Story
-----------------------
A T.V, years after being abandoned, seeks to change its life.
What Is This?
--------------------------
-------------------------
My Thesis film for my final year of college. I'm happy to finally be able to release this on youtube! I was contemplating over and over whether it was a good idea to post my film on a Zelda-only channel y'know? I have this feeling that a lot of people will just instantly leave because they think I'm not doing Zelda content anymore and if I post on a new channel it will just collect dust in the depths of UA-cam. So I pulled up my pants, just went for it, and posted it hoping for the best!
The assignment was to create a film by yourself. I decided the simplest way was to use Unreal Engine and use pre-existing assets/Megascans.
I couldn't model to save my life, so I couldn't do a Majorlink usual short film with humans and swords ( lol ). So I decided to do what I could to make a small Un-human character a TV. My favorite animated short films are ones without humans, only visuals moving the story forward, making someone cry over a faceless rock is a magic ability I think hahah.
I ended up getting a fantastic friend to model the TV character I designed check him out he's an absolute monster in this field and anything to do with animation.

"attached to a broken home. It can feel like dying to let go. Closing the door on one life and opening the door to a new one." Any child in an abusive household needing to let go and make new and healthy memories can understand this feeling.
I was looking for the words for something like this, thank you.
You didn't have to hit me in the feels even more 😭
"I was contemplating over and over whether it was a good idea to post my film on a Zelda-only channel y'know?" Dude this isn't a "Zelda only" channel, Its your channel. You have put out some amazing videos and honestly we would think nothing less of you if you wanted to add more to your content.
Thank you!😊
@MajorLink Yeah dude, what you make is not only narratively compelling but told in such a way as to tug at heart strings in ways I didn't know I could have pulled.
I'm currently watching the majority of your library of videos and am willingly choosing to lose sleep over it. Your LoZ is amazing, but this nothing short of amazing.
Please for the love of God, keep making such amazing stories, we won't care if it's Zelda or not.
I see, so this is where Ocarina of Time Link starts his family that eventually becomes Twilight Princess Link.
Amazing Storytelling
Lol. He divorced Malon.
This is really beautiful and honestly connects to me on a personal level. I was a weird little kid but I would personify a lot of the objects I had from the tv in my room to my lamp and would never want to throw them out or stop using them because I'd think they feel abandoned even though I should know they probably don't actually have emotions. It's just a subconscious thing I do when it comes to objects I personally own especially if it's something I've owned for at least a year.
I did the same thing with the things I owned. I refused to get rid of a clothes basket for the longest time even though it had sharp plastic edges and was old and bent, because it was a big part of my childhood. And I still do have some of my stuffed animals, now belonging to my younger brother, except for one, who stays with me.
Lol same I still have my old cassette radio I got for Christmas also still have my Pouncer cat back when Petz was popular 😅
I've done the same thing. All my old video game systems were my loyal pals as a lonely kid. I'd often make sure to leave the characters inside the games in a comfy spot out of subconscious feelings that they would be lonely or scared where I left them for months or years at a time (In a dark dungeon with monsters or something) I guess I felt they took care of me in real life in a way so it was an honorable thing to do as thier friend. Can't wait till I'm old and retired so I can visit my "friends" again. 🫂🎮
Same, especially after watching The Brave Little Toaster 😸
Dude...as far as emotions are concerned, this is Pixar and Disney (Well, in their better days) quality. I'm so glad you released it to the public and that the TV got his 2nd chance. I was afraid he wouldn't have for a second there...
Idk why but this made me tear up :’) what a wonderful short animation.
The animation and graphics are so great for someone independent making animations like you.
I must admit that you are the most underrated person in the world of animation (according to my opinion, because he is the only animator who does not have some fame or great recognition) And if you are reading this, follow your dreams and I hope you continue to release many more amazing animations.
Wow, thank you so much for this comment! 😭😭
@@MajorLink no problem bro, just keep working hard for your dreams and one day you will become famous
@@MajorLinkyeah man you are underrated as hell to the point it’s almost sad. Keep up the good work it’s incredible.
This is beautiful Majorlink! The animation and lighting and just everything is stunning😭 and the lil TV is so cute hehe
Things I didn't expect to happen today:
1) Upload from MajorLink
2: To Cry over an old TV Set
3) To cry over an old TV set thanks to MajorLink
Great job with this, it's absolutely beautiful and it hits is just a way that I'm having trouble put into words. Keep up with the amazing work, but above all, take care of yourself.
Doesn't matter that this isn't a Zelda video. You managed to hit me in the feels regardless. Thank you for conveying such poignant emotions in all your work. I can't believe you almost made me cry over a t.v. lol.
I don't whats is this, but due is from Major Link I'm still going to leave a like
This was a wonderful story to watch. I'm glad you made the decision to share this with us here🧡
...and yeah, it probably would have been lost if this was posted to a new channel. I'm happy to see anything you make on here, even if it is not Zelda related😊
You have an amazing ability to tell stories that pull you in and leave us wanting more. I can't wait to see what you have planned for the future🧡
Same
This looks really cool! Can’t wait to see more from you, even if it isn’t Zelda related. You are really good.
Dropped everything when I sawthe Notif and this was so beautifully made, well done❤️👏👏👏 don't be nervous about posting things that aren't zelda-related, your effort and work to create beautiful stories are what alot of people love to see🥹 thanks for posting this short film!
3 seconds in I was already betting I‘d be getting tears by the end. I was right. So, thank you for uploading this here, man.
This was like Pixar shorts level of feels, I really enjoyed this. I think any animation you’re a part of deserves to be on your channel. The power you have to convey emotion in what you make is what draws me to your stuff, not just the Zelda aspect
I have been following your job for three years or so.. It is very nice to see how far you got. But more importantly, it is great to see you didn't give up.
That was beautiful, the style and the music combine perfectly with this little story
Thanks for that
This story actually made me cry a little. I LOVE this! The story is so simple yet so beautiful! I love watching your animations! I can't wait to see what you have coming next!
This is depressing but so good at the same time I love it.
This looks so good! The lightning is superb it certainly helps a lot with the story's feel
I love this so much
The Tv got a home ;u; 💜
But really, we're here to support you even beyond your LoZ content! We love seeing what you'll show us next, and we cant wait for any of your uploads! Please keep creating, even if its not fan-stuff!!
Dude, this is some Pixar stuff right here good job man Props to you and your team
The way the cord yanked the TV back made me tear up. The startled look on The TV 🥺
This made me think of the movie The Iron Giant. The sense that inanimate objects wanted to be something they couldn't but still pushed on regardless of everything that was against them. I feel that honesty, 10/10
Hey man, I rarely comment or put likes, and I know you because you did Zelda animation, but this is your channel and this is what you make of it. So you post what YOU want, and I will love it ! (and surely not only me).
This is also us watching your evolution, and I'm sure a lot of poeple wants to see what you do besides Zelda animation and how you improve. I loved this little animation film, how you used the cuts, how you placed the music... All of this is really important and I love how creators like you used those tools to make me feel things !
I was so worried a garbage truck was going to pick the TV up. I was so relieved that he came back for him! Really hits that feeling of nostalgia, where I'm so fond of my old possessions that are blocky and out-dated and full of memories.
As someone who feels way more empathy than he probably should for inanimate objects, this made me tear up really easily, and I'm not even sure I fully got it. This is amazing work, man
This is easily one of the most heart wrenching, yet beautiful films I've seen in a long time.
This is a pretty good short animation, reminded me a bit of the Pixar animation shorts I've seen before
I never thought I'd be tearing up over a little TV looking for a new home, but here we are. Wonderful job!!
AAAAA THAT WAS SO GOOD!!! My heart melted through the entire film TuT
I love your channel, and it made me almost cry. I loved this animation so much, and I understand what is to be an independent artist.
Never seen a TV anthropomorphized like this before
Beautifully done, and I can clearly see the love you put into your Zelda animations in this as well. I'm glad you decided to share this here, it was a pleasure to watch!
And as always, Brock Hewitt knocked it out of the park as well. Beautiful!
This gave me "brave little toaster" vibes.
That was needlessly lovely. I see your alliance with Mr Hewitt continues. Nice.
Woah!
This was a wonderful original animation. It hit me like the Brave Little Toaster.
It's like testing your community. Not everyone will understand you. But we do and we're more grateful
Honestly I have no issues with you showing off other animation projects like this, we love your content not just because it’s Zelda but how because of your fantastic understanding of the lore, ability to capture emotion through gesture and direction of scenes.
The years of working with characters that don’t speak or have much in the way of vocal expression is really on full display here.
We know everything we need to know about how the TV feels and what it desires just from a few gestures and phrases on a Piano.
It honestly reminds me of a episode from Buffy called Hushed where everyone looses the ability to speak.
Fantastic work to all involved.
😭😭😭😭 Thank you thank you so much!
Damn this is amazing! I actually yelled "NO" when the owner drove away from the car and got super emotional.
Being able to make an inanimate like a TV show emotion is a skill. It reminds me of things like Pixars WALL-E and Especially the Cooker in Aardman's A Grand Day Out. Awesome!
That was great man, amazing work as always!
This piece is on par with the Pixar shorts or old, both in it emotional evocation and visual fidelity. If this wasn't on your Zelda-only channel, I might have thought it was by them.
I would say the telling of a tale about Link's post-Termina exploits is in good hands, but your production of Hero's Purpose is proof positive of that.
That animation looks incredible, it's amazing and beautiful ! Congrats to you and your team for making this !
This was an interesting surprise! I never thought you'd be doing this. I was worried that something had happened, but here you are. I'm impressed!
still honored that you would share your creations with us :) even if they aren't zelda related, the feelings and story are still there
Man, this looks like a nostalgic old-school Pixar film. I'm amazed how individuals like you can create content that can compete with content from multi-billion corporations. It would be great to see this channel expand by creating other animated films besides Zelda. Never stop impressing me Majorlink, never. Happy good day.
This makes me think of the tube TV I grew up watching. Most of my childhood movies were watched on that TV with VCR tapes (I'm not even that old, lol). Thank you for the nostalgia!
Just... LINKCREDIBLE.
AAAAH! This was beautiful! I was almost tearing up for the lil TV guy. Amazing production here. Great job, man!
Holy HYLIA! This had me crying. You are so talented and I love your animations. They have so much emotion and you can't help but get happy at triuphs and sad at tragedies. You are so good at what you do. Keep it up
Your use of the knobs to convey both eyes and facial expressions is amazing
It's understandable how you would doubt about posting non zelda related stuff here but honestly your Zelda animations are just so amazing that I had to check this one too and I'm not disappointed ! I really love your animations and the way you tell stories, keep up the good work
You only make works that are gorgeous and there are no exceptions
First time seeing a non-Zelda related animation on this channel but tbh I'm here for it
what a touching story, i even cried haha.
how beautiful is your work ♡
Oh hey! You're Canadian (or maybe you entered it in some Canadian film competitions), cool to see that one of my favourite animators is also Canadian. Keep going, you're going places.
This was really cute!! It gave me Brave Little Toaster vibes, haha. I'm glad you decided to take the plunge and share on here, ML!! And don't worry about being uncertain about posting non-Zelda stuff here! It's your channel, you can post whatever you like!
man , after years of following your channel , it feels refeashing to see you do some thing else other what your channel's content was about for years , you always put wonderful things , and what ever comes next of your futur works , i wish you good luck in making it happen
Such a great a video, I felt so bad for the CRT Tv trying his hardest to get to his owner, but ultimately losing its power when the tv got unplugged and abandoned on the side of the road. But someone gave it a new home. It’s cliché but totally works in this scenario. “One man’s trash, is another man’s treasure” and also good tv for Retro Gaming!
I love finding random animated shorts to cry about before bed.
Nice video, almost got a tear out of my eye, makes me think about how sometimes we can get attached to some object, from a simple toy we got when kids to even clothes
Dude don't you dare stop with the videos. You are incredible, and this is proof without a doubt! You did this in college for Pete's sake, and it is an amazing story! I can't wait for new videos, zelda or non-zelda!
Absolutely stunning!! You should be extremely proud of this moving piece of media. Thank you so much for sharing with us!
You tell stories so well Sean! You have such beautiful talent! Hope this platform can make all your goals/dreams come true!!! I will be here for that 100%!
You have a gift my brother. I am moved by this, and that is a rarity in any media I consume. Your Zelda videos have always moved me, and this continues that streak. I think you could submit this to Pixar as a resume, that's how good it is!
I will eagerly await more from you, whatever the project!
Well this was a nice little story
That was an absolutely beautiful animation and it really conveyed so much emotion just with a few sounds and gestures!! Great work, you’re amazing 😊
This could have saved me all the anxiety of "The Brave Little Toaster" ...
This is amazingly creative, emotional, and of an amazing quality in sound as much as in image you sure had me crying at the end SO WELL DONE!
That was so beautiful and the animation was beautiful. This is amazing you guys did amazing ^^
I absolutely love this!! There are so many emotions in this little guy, and you and Brock did a wonderful job on the music, as always. If you ever plan on posting more of your projects, I'd love to see them :)
I am super happy you shared this with us - it made me very emotional because there is so much room for interpretation.. and I think I never related to a TV before c':
Never be afraid - this is your channel. If Zelda or not is all up to you and clearly it is worth staying anyways! I am excited for everything that is about to come! 💜
Never in my life did I think I would feel bad and happy for a tv before 📺
This is a really good story, with a lot of emotion packed into it. I really enjoyed watching this. Amazing Job
This is very well done. Your work is always a joy to watch
What a touching story! Congrats on a great piece, thank you for sharing ❤
this is so beautiful im gonna go cry and think about my place in the universe for a moment
Awesome! I remember reading something from you saying that you were planning on posting this on here, and I’m really glad you did! You’re an excellent filmmaker
This was a very nice video, I liked how you were able to convey emotions so nicely to an object that doesn't have a lot of capacity to emote. It was a nice short emotional story and I loved it =)
Intriguing short animated film.It had me thinking and wondering what the next frame would bring. The music added depth and emotion.Great work Sean.👍🏻👍🏻
Very well done.
Here I am tearing up over a TV that just wants to be useful.
This was very well done, I loved the design of expressions you integrated, also more beautiful music from Brock. Another thing, while this channel has mostly been Zelda related, it's definitely a good idea to try new things and experiment a little. In any case, you've made beautiful art once again.
Amazing beautiful hearthwarming little story. I love it. So sweet. Thanks for sharing
Man time flies.... Beautiful man congrats 🎉
did I just get emotional over a TV ? poor little cute TV that story is so emotiona like gg bro, you nailed it
This was wonderfully animated and such a well told story! Doesn't even have to be Zelda content you do for it to be good. I love it! :D Can't wait to see what else you do!
Honestly, I've been attached to a lot of things, which I need to stop doing, but some of the main things I'm attached to, would probably be my blankets. Ever since I was little, I've just kind of kept them with me, even taking them out of the house and to other places, events and things. (Obviously I'm doing better with not doing that anymore. XD) I liked to wrap them around me like they're some kind of protective shield. With someone who has anxiety issues, having them with me and wrapping them around me, made me feel better, safer--even. I may never know why, but they did, and still do.
This is an unexpected as it is moving. Great work from you and Brock Hewitt!
Just finish watching that... Beautiful!
Glad to see you are still very much alive and breathing MajorLink! Am very VERY looking forward to seeing your new Hero's Purpose episode 😁✌️👍
Ace work on this! This was a beautiful short.
Very good! It connects with the feeling of something or someone that has felt left behind
This is amazing! Had me cheering them on to take that first step.
Fantastic man!
Emotional without spoken words!
This was awesome that you showed us this majorlink , you got a real talent I love the way you tell stories with few words and body language. The music just adds to the experience I need headphones when I watch your videos man I continuously go back to watch all the sheik and link scenes you did, the reflections video always hits different, enough about Zelda tho I want more of this I can truly can say I’m a fan of your work and I’m looking forward to every single video you put out.keep this shit up lol
Always love seeing your animations zelda or not. I like the knob/eyeballs.
