    Huge fan of the simple nomenclature strategy!! If not for anything else, cheers to Pirelli for that!!

      I wonder how much of this is intended to make internet shopping easier? I know when I bought my last three sets of tires, it is a little stressful. I check and re-check, and then check once more before pressing "buy". And that is after a thesis project at the manufacture's web page to make sure I know what is offered. Diameter, check, width, check, light or tough casing, check, folding bead, check, tubeless model, check, ... wait was it the Dangerous Maximus or the Racing Riot that was the fast one ... here we go again.

    Honestly i think it is smart from them to start of simple. Once they got in the market they can put some more options. But 80% of the money is made from Trailbikers. And if all i need is 4 tyres to fit in every condition... I love it!

    I love the fact that Pirelli and Michelin are back in the bike game. The last years before I felt like the only one pushing the game was Vittoria, and until then Schwalbe and Maxxis didn't have to do much to keep their positions. I think these brands with great material knowledge will pressure all the brands to stay innovative. May the best one win!
    No news yet when they will release their gravel tyres?

    They will probably be very expensive and knowing recent history of the most famous car tyre brands and their multiple and regular failings in delivering reliable tyres even at high price points, I don't think there's much to be excited about. Certainly wait and see situation. The simplified approach is definitely good and other MTB tyre makers could take example and limit their range somewhat, but it's still uncertain if it's the others or Pirelli, who will budge and take example. Limiting range would help stores, to be less affraid of stocking tyres, and should really be seen as a reason for price drop. Also lots of really unpopular tyres, could finally disappear from the market, uncluttering the choice a bit.

    • @polishguywithhardtospellna8227
      @polishguywithhardtospellna8227 5 років тому

      @@niccolorovano4580 To me it's not, it's maybe standard price for the top range, but I'm not affraid of riding on recent value hitters from China, available here for under 15 euro per folding dual compound tyre. So for the tyre to be at 50 euro mark, it has to be 1st proven, 2nd have something special about it that increases the price to this point. Vittoria graphene series is definitely much more value, Continental makes their top tyres in Germany, Pirelli stamps the logo on a tire, gives the press one day of riding and puts a 50 euro price tag on it ;-)

    • @niccolorovano4580
      @niccolorovano4580 5 років тому +2

      You're right,I've never seen Pirelli developing and producing a tyre. For sure they are a stick-a-logo-on-it company...

      same for me, look at the weight of them. not nearly one could be heavy enough to endure Enduro type of stuff. Also way to small and narrow treads who could loose grip easy on muddy sections and deep dusty sections.

      Richard Kromkamp oh no. I didn’t buy these pirelli’s. I’m only 3 years in to mtb riding and I just had to buy my first mtb tires and it was frustrating due to tire labeling. These pirelli’s would have been a lot less frustrating.

      @@bobobobobobo4597 What I find frustrating with buying new tires for bikes (and just bikes in general) is all the conflicting reviews. You'll find some people who love a tire and some who think it's trash. I mean obviously really good tires will skew towards more people liking them, but there are so many tires out there and because their performance varies so much by terrain it can be really tough to find the perfect tire for your riding.
