Suffer Ring - Never Pure (VJing with the HDK-01)

This is an example of me putting the HDK-01 (an HDMI circuit bent device by ‪@bpmcglitch‬ ) at the end of my visual effects chain and jamming with it. I really like the additional flavor it gives to my analog video halftone aesthetic. I think think it is strongest as one of the last effects. All this was recorded live in ‪@ResolumeVJSoftware‬

Wow ! This precisely the kind of visuals I really struggle to create.
I try to go for abstract visuals based off of real-world footage, but it either feels like cheap vfx or is way too distorted to be recognizeable...
Any tips ? Maybe a how-to ?

i would just start with simple shapes to stack effects on - and remember to include negative space :) build up to more intricate designs over time
