Ive used this Stove for 3 weeks on a bike-trip in norway - worked pretty well. I used it without the insert. Actually it's also quite light due to the thin material. Good stuff!
I believe you should have removed the upper plate in the stove, which is intended to hold a Trangia-type alcohol burner. When using it as a word-burner, remove this upper plate so you have room for fuel in the firebox. (Your firebox capacity was reduced 50 % by not removing the upper plate.)
cathy townsend I left it on as I thought it gave the sides a bit more support and direct the flames in the centre of the pot, but fair point on the fuel 👍 thanks
I think the biggest problem was that the stove was overstuffed with wood from the start...and never really got a good burn going til 3/4 way threw the video...needs to be able to get air under the fire...space for the air is important...
Thanks for the demo vid. I just bought one of these as I'm very into the idea of a lightweight wood burning stove. I think with just a couple of tweaks these could be made to be even more efficient.
I just bought this stove, I’m excited. Mine is some sort of gold tone. I didn’t know that the round part was supposed to be used, I’ve seen it fired up without it. BEAUTIFUL little pile of wood you made up. Now I know. Thank you very much Sir. Kids need more of this, get them away from frying their brains with video games and into healthy activities. Thumbs up 👍🏻.
I have the larger version of this Lixada stove and I really love it. I just ordered the titanium version of the larger stove, and even it's reasonably priced.
You need to remove the Trangia plate, and you need to use less fuel, not more. You're choking the fire by constantly shoving wood into it when it already isn't getting enough oxygen. And the wood is far too big. These are not stick stoves, they're twig stoves. Your fuel was as bad as fuel can get. It's far too thick, far too short, and you were stacking it far too tightly, guaranteeing a bad fire. The way to use these stoves, almost any such stoves, is by feeding long twigs, no thicker than a pencil, in from the top. You keep doing this until you have a coal base thick enough to generate a lot of heat. Then you break the twigs into a length that will allow you to sit a pot on top. When you need to feed the fire again, you can half a dozen or so twigs in through the door to maintain the fire, but if you need more flames, keep feeding it through the top. You want large flames that envelop the bottom and sides of the top. This isn't a campfire, and you can choke it easily with too thick, or too much tightly packed wood.
@@countysheepdog55 that is the top platewith the round hole in it, meant to hold the TRANGIA alcohol stove,( mine came with a TRANGIA burner included) GREAT stove for camping, and with the TRANGIA all so very handy for simmering food

They are great stoves. I was interested at the fire you were able to get in yours. Nice build. With that pin, I saw a video where a person ran the wire through top hole of the stove and hooked first a fishing swivel, then the pin. This works great and I have done for all my Lixada stoves. Before that mod I was just hooking the pin by the wire through whatever plate I wasn't using. Another video by Firebox shows that HEET in Yellow bottle is about the cleanest fuel for spirit burners for not getting pot black on your cookware. Great video thanks.
Use "Pink stuff" to easily clean all the black off your pans etc...I think my wife paid £1 for a tub of the paste, lasts a long time as well. I use it for my Stanley frying pan,Billy can and my Kelly kettle and hobo stove.
Works great..use it for twigs and Esbit on a foil shelf. Also Trangia and Trangia gas burner fits. My £10 Trangia gas burner from China is identical to the £90 Trangia and it runs on £1 butane cans with an adapter. With 10 meals (average) cooked per butane can that 10p per meal in fuel. Winner!
Great review mate! Found your channel as I was looking for a review of this stove because I've just ordered one with the trangia burner. I'm now looking forward to using this even more now. Subbed! Cheers and ATB. Stu.
I use this lightweight stick stove for Trangia burner use only......I'm not saying it wouldn't work in a survival pinch, but there are better stoves on the market for every day backpacking needs.
Me too..mainly Trangia gas burner using butane cans with a £1.50 adapter from Lazada.com to run £1 butane cans which give me an average 10 burns. Also made a foil shelf for Esbit and use it for twigs when there is no fire-ban in the provincial parks. Very good stove...

May i ask, as a local, do you ever get any grief from wild camping in North Wales, and do you think use of a stove like this would further upset a land owner?
Lance Flanagan When wild camping, I follow the set up later and strike early rule. This minimises the chance of being disturbed Common sense with fire as smoke can give you away. But always leave no trace including a fire scar 👍
I enjoyed watching the first burn in your new stove. I am wondering, though, why you left the round portion in. Isn't that used for holding a bowl of mentholated spirits?
I hear from some others that the Trangia stoves are in deed a little big for this hole. Others have filed a little material off from the inside of the ring to allow the Trangia to fit in.
seems you are missing the cross peices, mine comes with everything you have but with the two slots you put across the top in a + formation to keep pots and pans on
In my experience using this very-same Lixada stove, it warped after repeated uses. First burns are okay, but after several burns, this stove warped. I have used a lot of similar back-packable stoves, and I have come to realize my personal favorites. This Lixada stove isn't in my top five choices, but it will do in a pinch for a few burns. It's cheap, and it will get the job done. I'm also recognizing that it relies on a hinge pin to keep the stove together. If someone loses the hinge pin in the field, what does someone do? My suggestion is to carry a second hinge pin (a right-sized nail will suffice, I suppose). My experience may differ from others' experiences, of course. Thanks for the vid, Bushcraft Wales.
It can warp over time, but I've never seen one warp so much it couldn't be stored in the bag, and used again and again. The warping is also usually do to using the stove far too long at one time. As for the hinge, there is no way it should be lot since it's supposed to be fastened to the stove, LOCKED to the stove, when not in use. But a piece of small coat hanger wire works perfectly. I've had one of these stoves for years, and it still works as well as it did the day I bought it. It has warped, but this does not affect its use or performance in any way, so who cares.
Unless you are a very stupid person it is very difficult to lose the hinge pin as it is attached to the stove by a stainless steel cable. My stove has been through several months of heavy use and warping has not effected its performance as it is such a small stove. Too many trolls out here.
The warping is one of the reasons I ordered the titanium version of the larger Lixada stove for only $10 more than the stainless version. Yes, my stainless steel version has warped some, but it still assembles pretty easily and fits in the pouch. What stove do you prefer?
Bought mine recently from Amazon and i cut myself pretty bad. I have the large version of this stove. Some edges are very sharp. Then i see the included sandpaper. Hmmm.....why did they not fixe that problem before selling them? My stove did not look like the one in the photos and some parts not fitting the stove. I send some emails to them asking about this but it seems like they dont want to understand the problem. And Trangia burner does not fit.
You got the clip together large one which is not so good. That one is Emberlit style copy and too big for the Trangia burners..although for the £20 cost I did get the Titanium version you describe which I use for larger fires...basically a campfire contained in a box which I can car-camp with and strong enough to put cast iron skillets on.

Good review. The stove itself actually has no bearing how fast water will boil...or food will cook. Fuel, humidity, temperature, type ignition, amount of water, pot material and thickness and several more things will have affect on cooking before the stove does.
