Camping stove - Lixada folding wood stove (twig stove)
In this video I take a look at the Lixada folding wood stove.
It's a great value camping stove (costs under £13 shipped in the UK), that is great when you need to cook or make a brew and can't have a larger fire or fuel is limited to burning small twigs. The stove is very efficient and can cope with pots and pan of different sizes and weights easily. This stove is great value for money and it has the added bonus of unlimited free fuel. I have the exact same Lixada wood stove model that I have been using for about four years now. I've made cowboy coffee & cooked my meals with it Really works well and I am indeed very pleased with it.

It's a great stove Paul. Had mine now for over a year. There is now a titanium version weighing 225g. My titanium version is made by Tomshoo and cost £14 :)
Heck yeah, I bought the small version and just tried it today and it was great. I also have there gasifier stackable stove, and a 3 piece one like the one you showed, but it's only 3 pieces and has 3 cross bars in top.
All 3 from the same company and each one has it's own pros and cons.

Paul Messner for sure sir. I’ll check the video out after work :) nothing like cooking over wood. Next time you use your stove try wood pellets. They burn nicely and for a long time on the go when time is important.
Thanks for the review. I have been debating on getting one of these. I have a jetboil and want something that burns wood just to have something for boiling water for a brew. After watching you do up the sausages now I am sold on this stove.

Great wee stove, good idea cooking on top on that cut wood. Handy height to work with to.
Great video. I have one of these and Lixada stoves and have used it enough to say that it's a great value. The stainless steel will warp slightly over time, but that doesn't effect the functionality of the stove; it only makes fit together more tightly. I have ordered the titanium version which only costs slightly more and I'll be doing a review of it soon.

Setup could be quicker but apart From that looks good, probably going to buy it based on this review.
Lixada also makes a titanium version of this stove which only costs about $10 more. I have both the Stainless Steel and titanium versions and other than the metal used, there's no difference between the two. The smaller version which say's titanium is only titanium coated, so I don't really see the benefit of that, however the ones I have are great. When the nylon pouch wears out, you can just use a zip lock bag which will do the job just fine, so don't let the pouch keep you from purchasing this stove.

Yes, the medium/large Lixada/Overmont/Tomshoo "clone" stoves breathe better than the original Emberlit stoves because they added 16 air holes to the bottom plate where the Emberlit had none.

I got one of those chinese knock-off's. It works really well for boiling water and/or heating something in the field. And for 10-ish $ it's not bad value either.
I have a simular titanium version from China. Mine is 216 gram, love it!
great for carrying in the auto for emergencies. take fuel with you or source fuel on site.

Jetboil zip best option in every normal winter condition for me 400 Gramm gas bottle you can use this beast like 3 weeks 😉 even with potstand
So where is the comparison between one of the most expensive (and gas-powered) stoves on the market and one of the cheapest and efficient stoves where the fuel is free? Surely you are not trying to tell us that those who buy the most expensive for the sake of it are the only real campers!

Hmm, I think I will get one of these. I have a gas and spirit stove but after one go with the spirit stove gave it up, as I thought it was far to slow, plus the fact, I was getting funny looks when asking for meth's in the local shops. I know for a fact my grandson would enjoy me cooking with this one. Nice demo, cheers Alan
Thank you Alan. It's a great value stove and works a treat. It also fits a meths stove inside if you want use it as a pot stand for that. It makes it a very versatile piece of kit. The bonus for me is you can just snap off small twigs so virtually zero processing and it free. There's a link in the description with all the specs. Cheers
Awesome dude. I clicked on this video because i just bought that stove. Stayed because you are the spitting image of my mate Randy. Dude what's the script with the pot rest parts, can I get away with not using them if the pot is wider than the stove or do they act as stability? Thanks brother. One love from Scotland

I’m curious if that stove put out enough heat to make you feel at least a little bit warmer. Could you feel the heat anywhere besides your hands and face? At the very least, it seems like it might be a good way to heat up some water to warm you inside while you gathered stuff for a bigger fire. And then you’d have some nice hot coals to start that with.

10 minutes to boil! I guess that’s the price to pay for not carrying a jetboil + fuel canisters. I’m currently weighing the benefits and drawbacks of both.
I own both a jetboil and a lixada wood stove and recommend them both. I use them slightly differently. A jetboil is for convenience, the wood stove is for those moments when you have time and enjoy the ritual of fire
In those weather conditions and with almost freezing water and cold gas canister a jet boil wouldn’t be too much quicker.
Bushcraft way , it's the experience you get from it. We all know when to use tools respectively.
Well, is not like you are in a rush are you? if you take a 20-30min break should be time enough.
I have the same 16cm version of this "clone" stove, with mine being branded Overmont rather than Lixada. Both this 16cm (medium) version and the 19.5cm (large) version are basically well made Chinese clones of the beloved original (Made in U.S.A.) Emberlit stove. They not only managed to greatly reduce the overall price, but they also incorporating a couple of minor design changes that most end-users would probably consider improvements over the original. Those being a larger feed opening in the front and perforations in the lower shelf to slightly improve updraft.

Is there a bigger version of this ?
Does anybody know a good tripod style pot holder (folding, preferably)? I intend to use one instead of such a stove, you know, just make a fire underneath and surround it with stones to create a windscreen... But I can't seem to find one that is small and light enough for backpacking.
If I'm using a tripod I tend to make one from branches and cordage. I wouldn't carry a metal tripod myself although I see how they could be useful. Have you seen squirrel cookers before? They seem quite handy and you get lightweight ones of those.Thanks for watching. Best wishes. Paul

I've purchased a small foldable Lixada stove - 9cm model, and it didn't work for me. Well not really. I was trying to boil a water in a soldier kettle pot and after hours I still couldn't get it done. It seemed the pot was dissipating the heat faster than receiving it from the stove. The stove was burning really well, it was quite hot. I think it could've worked for a smaller pot. I'm going to give it a try for a bigger version.

I just bought mine. You sold me. Question? Read some reviews of then warping from over loading with wood. Has anyone had this happened??? And if so, the hell type and amount of wood were you using. Or was it just a matter of running it for long periods of time???
It's the nature of thin steel I guess. I've not noticed any issues to worry about. the stove remains solid and still easily assembles. Thanks for watching. Best wishes. Paul
