  • Lixada Wood Burning Stove Review - I finally picked up one of these twig stoves, and was very surprised at how well it worked. Check out how easy it was to boil water and cook breakfast. This will be going with me on trips moving forward unless there is a fire ban.

    I have that stove and really like it. I made a penny stove for the alcohol tray and it works like a champ.

      Very nice!
      I have started carrying an Altoids tin full of Sterno... it gives me 50 minutes of burn time and makes heating water very easy.

    I have the medium size version of the Lixada/Overmont stove, but both the medium and large versions are made of a heavier gauge stainless steel so they weigh quite a bit more than the version you have. The overall design is based upon the original Emberlit stove, but the bottom plate was redesigned to increase updraft. The medium stoves (1 or 2) fit perfectly under my Stansport folding grill, as though they were made for it.

      There were three sizes of this one available, and I thought i was ordering the medium, however this one works so well, I am glad for the mix-up :). Nice idea with the folding grill. Have you used these stoves often?

    Great video! I have the same cook set, I am considering this stove to go along with it. It's perfect for the price point!

      Agreed! It is a great deal, and worked better than expected... can't wait for my next trip to play with it more :)

    I have this and can tell you it’s amazing. A little pain in the butt to put together but once you get it it’s amazing.

      Yup... these are awesome. I can't wait to get through fire season, so I can start carrying this again :)

    Great job with this review! I just got my own and it works nice. Have you ever tried a pocket below with it? It really helps. Also,how's the Sterno stove in the sucrets tin? I had copied this from you and its been great!

    On Amazon, this stove is $17.. The Firebox Stove (similar situation + design) is $150... Don't know if that price is worth it, lol... thoughts ?!

      @RestlessWonderer  4 роки тому +1

      The firebox looks nice, and I think it is available in bigger sizes as well... I have watched several videos with it :)
      I went with the Lixada stove because of the cost and the size... it packs down to nothing, and I use it all the time on my trips when there is no burn ban in place.

      Topshelf Junior I got the Firebox stove because I wanted something that could be used as heating, something that could have a roaring fire for hours at a time without it warping out of shape- a problem with the thinner gauge metal stoves such as the Lixada. I think it cost me the equivalent of $116 American. I was impressed with the amount of design that had gone into it, mine is the 2nd generation. There is a lot more to it than cheaper ones, many different ways of using it, and add ons that came with mine for grilling meat, using fuel tabs, pathfinder mug/bottle sized cut out plate. Is it worth the extra £80 or so, maybe, maybe not, but it is a hell of a stove, that will outlast me, if I take care of it! It does everything I want out of it, plus more. The lixada, not.

      @@Mat-kr1nf Lixada has a genius design though, and you CAN use it to warm in a vestibule like situation if you are careful...it also can use solid/liquid fuels, so versatile, and I paid only $39 canadian for mine...so 1/3 the price of the larger heavier stove you have.

    Thanks for the demonstration and timeline on this! Seems like a better option compared with the Esbit or BCB fire dragon stoves.

      Given the cost and size this seems like a great option for a bugout bag or other similar emergency kit.

    Hi What type of frying pans do you recommend for wood stoves? Stainless steel, titanium etc ? Thanks

  • @simonh6371
    @simonh6371 4 роки тому +1

    Even if there is a fire ban, I think you'd be better off using this in conjunction with a small meths burner, ideally trangia original, as the fuel is still less bulk and weight for the hours used than gas canisters,, furthermore the trangia doesn't really have any moving parts and is bombproof, they can be used for decades. Made in Sweden and used by the Swedish Army so it must be good.

    Great video review thanks. How durable is it long term? Not that worried considering I payed like $14 for the stainless steel one lol.

      It still works great, and this is my third year running the stove. Unfortunately the fires here in CO have kept me from using it this season, but now that we are getting snow, it will be time to start using again :)

    Do you have the 9.8cm version or the 12.5 cm version? Trying to figure out if the 9.8cm version is big enough and if that's the one you're using here. Cheers!

    • @RestlessWonderer
      @RestlessWonderer  4 роки тому +2

      Looks like the 9.8cm version... I thought it was going to be bigger, and was a little bummed out when I first opened it, but this one works very well.
      I use it all the time when we are not under fire restrictions.
