Yeah ... I was so tempted to try a run of rum wash before the client picked it up but then explaining to the man why his essential oil still reeked of rum may have been a little difficult! 🤣 Happy Distilling!
Thanks Kev! Yeah, I'm keen to see it running and see what output the client gets off an E/O run with the basket packed. I know the yeilds from E/O's can be quite small in comparrison to alcohol for instance ... stuff is worth it's weight in gold tho' in some instances. The product worked out a fraction of the price that a NIB build would have. Job took longer than it should have tho' with all of the changing workshops and pissing about that has gone on this year. Been making a few smaller E/O distillation units for folks lately, this is certainly the Mac-Daddy tho' lol. Happy Distilling Brother!

@@devolution000 Heya Chris, I've been welding for quite a while, but mainly self taught and definitley no master at it. All my stainless to stainless welds are TIG with stainless filler rod except on some occasions where silicon bronze makes more sense for whatever reason. Silicon bronze I use for stainless to copper mainly or maybe copper-to-copper where welding isn't an option but the joint needs to be structural. Top tips I can think of for a beginner; Get comfortable, if I'm not sitting comfortably I make horrendous welds, sometimes you have to shoehorn into something but try and work comfy. Keep your tungsten clean and sharp. If you dip it badly, stop and sharpen it - don't keep going with a blobby tungsten. 100% Argon shielding gas, some ppl might recommend argosheild (argon-carbon dioxide mix, MIG gas) ignore them and go 100% Argon for TIG (exception might be helium for copper welding but it's expensive and you can still do that with argon.) @@AngryParrotDistillery Hi, thought I'd share my quick video running my pot still in the weekend. One can never have enough distilling vids :) ua-cam.com/video/WuLfVKu5IGA/v-deo.html

Heya BigEd! Thanks! 😊 Yes a TIG changes everything, especially once you start TIG silicon-bronze brazing and can attach dis-similar metals structurally. A 200amp TIG is all you'll want for this kind of work, ... although I did run out of beef with mine a while ago and had to go find a 300+amp to use - that was on the big copper/brass dephlegmator I mentioned at the end of the vid. That reached a tipping point and become a @#$%ing HUGE heatsink .... which oddly enough is exactly what it's suppose to do 🤣 Happy Distilling BigEd.
Just curious how you approached the weld/build. Top down, or on it's side. The sheer size is off the hook for me. I hard soldered a 2 inch shotgun. But a foot dephlag with 3/4 pipes... It's all about the journey.
@@BigEdsGuns Side for the side-seam and inlets/outlets, standing upright for everything else. Theres no hard/fast rules, I find if I'm comfortable I make nice welds/brazes, if I feel contorted or hunched around something it starts looking like a drunken caterpillar. 😊
