At the end of every Queen concert Brian's version of the UK National Anthem "God Save The Queen" would come over the PA. You knew it was senseless to keep cheering for another encore at that point because the concert was truly over. The last encore was always dedicated to the artists they grew up listening to, Elvis, Little Richard, Gene Pitney and in this case their new friend, Elton John. They always put a medley in of their own songs near the beginning of the concert as well. I think that's one of the reasons why they did so well at Live Aid. They did a medley of their hits and got 6 songs plus Freddie's mind-blowing A-Yo played while most others only got 3 maybe 4 songs done. They were always smarter than everyone else. The 1974 Live at the Rainbow concert was a lot of fun. Big Spender/Modern Times Rock and Roll is another encore that you might like.
That was it! They were always smarter than everyone else! Who else, with a hit as huge as Bo Rhap, would begin with the first section of that?! The Live Aid audience seemed to be Compelled to sing along within seconds of Freddie beginning to sing and play, and everything just got better and better! They say that's when the donations really started to happen. (Above, it was so nice to hear the older medley, and young Fred's sweet face pre-mustache, in the lame leotard, and hear Sweet dreams, everybody! Roger, sounding so strong, but looking about 17, seemed to be smiling at the camera when he remembered now and then!)
Queen almost always has a 'medley" somewhere in their concerts! They'll do their own songs in medley form mid-way, but when it comes to the Finale of the show, they'll pay homage to others like Little Richard, Elvis, Everly Brothers, Rick Nelson with basic old-fashioned 'Rock n' Roll" songs. There is a very nice video of Freddie slipping out of a kimono robe to the musical number of "Big Spender" at the Hammersmith/Odeon 1975 !! Super fun & worth the watch.
Wow 🥰 beautiful sweet Freddie ❤️ Freddie Mercury is simply unique 🤩 liked subscribed 😁 please react to golden boy by Freddie Mercury and Montserrat caballe ❤️
Best Queen medley ever bestowed on us mere mortals 😍 Freddie is so hot in his silver jumpsuit that I can barely touch my iPad without burning my fingers. I get kinda sad when it’s over bc I’m so shook up 🥹 but then I come out of my fugue state and remember I can watch it again. YIPPEE !! ✌🏼
Hello!! This is my favorite Queen medley .. plus, Freddie looks fabulous in that “bling” onesie!! 🫠 The Rock n Roll Medley at Wembley is fantastic, too! Love how Queen honors the rock stars before them. Jimi Hendrix was Freddie’s favorite idol ..
For performance idols, Freddie added Elvis and Lennon. Roger and Freddie said they saw Jimi Hendrix in London 27 times! Wouldn't it have been great to be along for that?!
this set is a cool medley, with the stage being so much smaller, the cameraman really captured everyone. Each got to shine. Notice the eye contact between them? They need to know what Freddie's going to do, so they watch him like a hawk. Also, you think they're done (they think they're done) when Freddie says "Stupid Cupid" around 8:15 - Yep, he's got them going ONTO another song.
Check out angry Queen they signed with a manager who had them sign a contract that had them touring and working hard but not making any money when they were young. Eventually they learned better and their bass player John Deacon managed their money equally for all of them. Freddie was so angry about getting duped early in their fame he wrote -Death on Two Legs and Liar.
You're probably thinking of B.B. King's guitars which he named "Lucille" which doesn't have anything to do with the song Lucille, written by Albert Collins and Little Richard that was released in 1957 and covered by Queen in this performance... but the story behind his naming of his guitars is quite interesting, definitely worth a Google.

From old rock & roll to something completely opposite, please check out Stone Cold Crazy at the Rainbow. Thrash metal before there was metal.

Their early shows were 🔥🔥. The stage seems to be too small for all that energy.
& of course Freddie had to change, & then get undressed again.😂
Great reaction... If you like Queen, please react Cakra Khan cover : Show Must Go On by Queen...👍😅🇮🇩
I think Brian broke a string during jailhouse rock. He was waiting for him
Not Little Richard - B.B. King
Lucille - by Little Richard
