@@eddieperalta7071 It shouldn't cause any issues at all and won't make you vulnerable to being hacked (as long as you don't give out your devices IP address to anyone you don't trust). If you do have issues joining an online game, just delete the ports that you added and see if that helps.

A lot of routers will have the same DNS and default gateway. Simply use whatever is listed for both of them, you can use 8.8.8.8 for your alternate DNS server. Same thing goes for your IP, just copy whatever is listed in your command prompt.
I have tried this many times and it just doesnt work for me, like the server never shows for my friends, could something else be keeping it from working
i would recommend disabling it for security reasons after sessions if your fine with logging in every time like I am at the cost of not losing ur pc to some random guy in Russia who could remotely connect to your pc through the port its the main reason many don't port forward in the first place, because of the risk but if u disable it after each session ull be completely fine.
I've followed all of your steps exactly except setting up the ports themselves, as I have different windows and dialog boxes to fill asking for different things. If you're willing to PM or contact me directly I'd love some help as I've finally organized a group large enough to want a proper server.
A few questions :) At the beginning of your video you show "Setting up a static IP address" is this on the computer you are playing on to connect to the server or are you setting this up on your server computer? I have a laptop that I use as a server using TADST, and my regular computer I use to connect to that server. Is all this setting up you do on your server computer or your playing computer?
I recommend using a static IP address on your server PC and on your server network router. You can also use a dynDns for your network IP. This is what you put in your server connection box and it would be annoying if it changes every time.
I apologize for such a late reply. Chances are you have already figured this out, but if not, I'll try and help. I believe you are referring to the local IP address at 5:10, I leave mine blank in the video, but explain that you would put your IPv4 address there. You can find your IPv4 address in the command prompt by using the command "ipconfig".
The minecraft port is nothing to worry about. You can have multiple ports if you need, or you can simply change the settings on the first port and use that one.
Sorry for the late response. Assuming you are copying the data from your command prompt there shouldn't be anything that is above the set limit for your router. If you are still having this problem feel free to elaborate on it because I am not entirely sure where you could be running into an issue where your DNS and default gateway are above the limit.
I recommend finding your routers model (Typically listed on the back of the router) and looking up the default range of IPs and gateways for your exact router. You can use any of the numbers listed. If none of these work you can typically find your default gateway printed on your router. If the IP looks something like this e80::21b::64ff then it is most likely your IPv6 address and not your IPv4 address.
You do not need both port forwarding and a DMZ. I recommend only using port forwarding due to the fact that DMZ has a lot of security issues and essentially disables the firewall on your network. Assuming you are starting the server through the "Host Server" tab in game you will need to make sure you have selected "Internet" as the server type. If the issue continues I recommend checking the firewall on your PC and your router as the default settings on these can often override port forwarding.
So this is weird I’ve tried many time to port forward it just wouldn’t work, then a few days later I randomly tried again to host a sever this time it worked Could it possibly be because I rebooted my router? Also I’ve opened ports 2302 to 2306 on UDP for Arma. 1 more thing, when I looked up my ip it showed the ipv6 one and my friend found my sever by clicking on the friends tab, not by me giving him my ip.
same here, i have an arris CM8200 and whenever i type in my IP it takes me to a page that just displays information, doesn't have any of the stuff on port forwarding
0:53 Contrary to what he says, the ipaddress (v4) of the server/ client computer and the default gateway are never the same when you have a router. The default gateway is the door of your router from your local network which leads to the internet. It usually is 192.168.x.1 or ending at 192.168.x.254. Can also be 10.x.y.1 or 10.x.y.254, or 172.16-32.x.1 or 172.16-32.x.254. In rare cases, like when the computer uses internet connectionsharing, is it the same as the default gateway. So check exactly what ipconfig reports as default gateway. You may need to add in front of it in your browser and may think it is an insecure website when you open it.
