This game is SUCH an absolute MASSIVE goldmine of an opportunity, it could be to video games what Football/Soccer is to sports. I think there just isn't anybody at Epic/Psyonix with the vision to make it so, truly their loss. The physics and play of the game, it's just perfect, and if you just give it the overall game the redesign it deserves, make the look cleaner with a little more edge and take in aesthetic and design qualities that remind one of football leagues across the world, go balistic on the training packages using all the best of the workshops but make it polished and with trophies and badges along the way, and redo some of the yawn inducing UI screens you've got yourself a global gaming phenomon the likes of which have never been seen before.
The problem with this is that the game has too steep of a learning curve at this point. It’s very hard to get my friends to play rocket league who’ve never played before because they can’t hit the ball and get discouraged. It takes hundreds of hours to get even somewhat good at rocket league and that will always stop it from being the biggest game.
@@Evan2768 i will say encouraging your bad friends to play together and have fun WITHOUT you on the side, is a great way for them to slowly get better. Ive had 5 of my friends get into the game over the last year, and one of them is already playing in high diamond (even survives in some of my gc lobbies). You just personally gotta remember why the game was so incredible to you in the first place. its just fun.

now all but 8 na/eu orgs will have an 8 month offseason. that's insane if you want to retain orgs. Think about how many orgs left or were close to leaving with this last offseason and it was 5 months
Thats also a really bad thing i didnt include, lets hope they made room for dreamhacks and stuff. I think a lot of orgs will leave because no one is paying someone 8 months while they do nothing and because every team plays in open quals there is no certainty that ur team gets on the main stage
Exactly, I think most people just look at the decrease in total prize pool and stuff of that nature and don't even look at the situation itself, obviously the prize pool is going to be lower due to the economic state of e-sports and there's literally 1 less split. I continuously hear pros saying how long they take to pay, and some haven't even got paid from last season, if theres lack of money, you gotta cut, it's just the nature of business, if it was blast, they did what they could with what they got. It wasn't perfect, full open quals for example, but still, most are overreacting to some extent like Jack said.
If big orgs get knocked out and there are always different players making the late stages it will bad bad for viewership, you will never get the opportunity to support a team because you will have no idea if they are going to make it. There will be different names all the time and it will be impossible to follow.
Johnny's entire defense throughout this episode consists of "they can", "they could", "they might", "probably". It would be nice if he could address what was contained in the announcement rather than using his hypotheticals as a defense. Really strong shill energy.
It’s a series of mistakes over the years that have prevented them from making more money. Limiting the crowds during wildcard and prelims, not capitalizing on team merch, less sponsored events…
I personally don't mind the longer off season. My biggest issue was that despite all these events announced to happen, RL Esports did zero promotion for any of it. I barely watched any of the off season events because I couldn't keep track of it since they weren't there to promote it. Like all it took was for their twitter account to retweet stuff from the other organizers but the account went completely silent.
How can you have a discussion around the new RLCS format with people in it they are actually getting paid for casting the RLCS ? How is that debate going to be honest in any way ? These questions don't even need an answer when you see how the casters try to stay as moderate as possible.
They have all of the Fortnite tournaments fully open because there are so many levels of qualifiers and winning in Fortnite is much more consistent where someone can’t just peak on you ruining your tournament. They also have it where you have a set amount of time to play games and get points to advance so even if you die early like 5 times you can still make it to the next round if you are a pro
