@@icedglizzyhonestly Bates and the crew had some good takes this time. I'm listening right now and he literally just bashed NA pros for relaxing once they get a qualification spot.
There is literally no argument to be made anywhere to have G2 above GenG. Comparing the rosters last split (when 2/3rds of both were the same), and the players from across the entire season there is a huge gulf between them. G2 might finally click and go on to do well, but to have them ahead of GenG is ludicrous.
They won a regional last season as well to be fair, nobody is doubting they can do that - it's their consistency being called into question. And let's face it, they had the mickiest of runs to achieve it, other than the final itself. Regardless, good for them. Doesn't change anything that was said here though.
looking back on this, everything Daz said anything about GenG could be said about G2... major winner, world finals runner up, offensive prowess... turned into a G2 sweep
For tbates sake... Rado is actually the draymond. (Not great stats wise, but the team needs him as the "Glue") I think Rise/Atow is actually the Chris bosh. (Not the same as draymond. Has the 3rd role but still is considered a star.) Thoughts??
To that question daz asked, I think he’s right mena definitely got the best benefits from the change, I think you can throw ssa in there too, but the league as a whole has taken a HUGE deficit due to the fact that there less teams at majors, and NO WILDCARD! That is ridiculous to me. Wildcard is essential in storylines in leagues like this. And I think everyone can agree, we all wanted more teams at majors.
no wildcard also makes worlds exactly the same as a major aside from prize pool and prestige, its one of if not the worst thing they could have changed
I’ve always said majors should have way more teams (like 24+) so its more like all the regions are coming together in big brawl for spots in the more exclusive and prestigious worlds (plus this just lets more teams get international exposure and grow the whole scene faster). The new format feels more like they just kept the 3 majors and removed worlds and dumped its prize money onto the 3rd major. If the game and esport was managed/promoted better over the last few years then it would probably be more feasible during the current downward trend of esports in general but as long as it doesn’t get any worse than this the esport should survive for awhile
@@sakamataRL yea it’s sad really RLCS could be the biggest esport in the world and watched by people who don’t even play video games since it’s easy to understand but epic is killing it
@@sakamataRL yeah I hear a lot of people say we couldn’t have foreseen the decline of esports but as soon as espn completely tanked and removed their esports division in 2021, it was obvious there was a growing agenda to rid esports from major outlets and numbers in overall viewership of tier 1s were starting to decline. Now numbers don’t lie, every year rlcs worlds has grown to a bigger audience by about 50-100k. With that said, I believe this season would’ve been the MOST important season to, not only improve the format, but go all in on grand esports events, selective promo, game improvement, collaboration from big names like they do with Fortnite, basically trying to cement rocket league as a tier 1 esport. There’s so much money so idk why epic wouldn’t do that. Now, I just don’t think it’s going to happen. Sure, it’ll survive for a while i mean look at us rn, still talking and watching.
