@@acey8274 well in my defense I decided to do her no summons shield or magic and my damage was bloody slash, so I couldn’t use bloodhound step or parry and I was constantly losing health even when I was just attacking her
I swear to god the night I beat her, I literally heard “I am Malenia, Blade of Miquella” in my dreams on repeat. That was a few days ago and I still have ptsd from that fight
@@palmersmith8557 yeah I used the same thing. +10 rivers of blood with Lord of Blood’s exultation / Rotted winged sword insignia talismans and a +10 mimic tear is so broken. I wanted to try to beat her without resorting to that but I just couldn’t. Beat her on my first try with that
Little fun thing: In the godskin duo battle, i've managed to get both of them dead at once, and no, it doesn't end the battle, one of them just ressurects to keep the thing going.
Same thing happened to me when I fought them, honestly at first I was like "did I break the boss? What's going on?" Than saw one resurrect and said "oh shit!"
That happened to me twice. I was really happy at first and thought I'd beaten the boss without depleting it's health bar fully, then apostle resurrected and killed me a few seconds later.
This, in my opinion, would make the fight actually bearable, I thought this would be how it worked, so I took my sweet time trying to kill them both in the same window, when I finally did it imagine my elation when no "Enemy Felled" appeared and the skinny fuck just materialized alone out of thin air and then summoned his fat friend. Getting them both to die in the same window takes enough determination, I feel like it would be appropriate if the fight could end like that.
It’s crazy how different runs are for everyone , Godskin duo was a one run for me, but near the beginning of your list is commander N with the lightning peg foot and him and his ghost buddies did unspeakable things to me for hours .
Yeah, same here, Malenia and Godskin duo werent the problem, Ordovis duo however.. I lost count eventually, I hated every bit of that fight, at the end decided to cheese it with rot and I am not even sorry. That commander funnily wasnt that much problem for me, however his scarlet version costed quite a few attempts.
I heard "I am Malenia blade of Miquella" so many times from her . that when I finally got her I my self became malenia at the end . and my god her weapon is op .
On my second playthrough I was using her weapon when I got to the mimic tear fight, still dumb easy but he spammed the ashe of war which triggered my trauma from fighting her😳
Her weapon is really sick. I've lost count though, how many times I died in NG+ because I wanted to use her weapon art instead of fast attacks or dodging :D
sadly her armor is incredibly dogshit, I hope they buff it to have more resistances or at least more balance so you cant get fucked out of the air so easily
@@silosh3460 Her armor is ok. The reason it's bad is because it's a medium armor with lower weight. So if you have the Endurence for the heavy stuff then obviously the heavier armor sets are going to outperform it.
Godfrey and Horah Loux is such an epic fight. The man literally created us and is the leader of the tarnished. When you die to him he compliments you on your strength and when you defeat him, he’s like good job bro here’s your crown. 10/10 boss imo.
So interesting how your build can influence the difficulty so drastically. Morgott I beat on my second try, while Rennala violated me with her staff for hours.
It’s funny you say that cause it took me till I had over 300 hours in the game to realize that. I used mostly a mix of faith based or arcane / bleed weapons for the first 300 hours. Moonveil, Rivers of Blood, Mohgs Spear, Godslayer Greatsword, Ancient Relic Sword, Nagakiba, Antspur Rapier. I could clear out the large majority of the game with ease before you reach Malikeith but once I got to him I always ran into trouble. Malikeith, Godfrey (both versions), and Elden Beast are of the few that I’ve never solo’ed so I’d just summon the mimic just to get it over with. After the last patch I started experimenting with every strength weapon I knew of and my lord do those weapons make those fights so much easier, Falling Star Beast Jaw is probably my favorite just cause I love the stagger potential and the lighting animation but Malikeith’s Black Blade and Envoys Longhorn are also fun to use. Long story short there’s not a one size fits all weapon or build in the game
I wear my Malenia armor set with pride. The fact that she's 100% completely optional adds to the sense of victory that I got when I finally bested her after about 4 hours worth of attempts.
I personally use the assassins set (the one that makes you move without emitting sounds) and when I finally beat Malenia, I got her arm and sword and it looks really good 🤩
I think you'd wear that armor with less ego if you realize how easy she is to cheese. Just give the game awhile, especially after some full walkthroughs are made. Everyone's gonna have beaten her
For me it's insane to rate the golden spirit of Godfrey and his real form so close together. The golden spirit was two tries for me, Hoarah Loux tossed me around for at least an hour
Malenia was the hardest boss I’ve ever faced in a soulsborne title, she nearly broke me and absolutely deserves that #1 spot. Still a phenomenal fight, though.
I didn't struggle much at all with Orphan on my first playtrough and got him down in around 5 or so attempts but oh boy Malenia was a brutal fight with no summons and ranged attacks. Definitely the hardest one for me personally
Maliketh is one of those fights that I don’t know how I won. I spent the entire encounter getting knocked down constantly but I somehow did enough damage to kill him.
@@PapaLuge me and another guy had her so close one time I ran into the flower a second too soon and got rot then she murdered me with shura ending isshin's dance move from sekiro because I was out of fp. I only beat her when I realized I just couldn't let her hit me and needed to carry a ton of magic flasks spamming flies and bloodhound step. Worked great but co-op partners kept dying so I used the mimic
There’s a tear you can get from an invader that is in a church on the Altus plateau that completely nullifies Mohg’s blood ritual, allowing you to get quite a few hits in while denying his damage and healing. Makes the physik basically nessarcary if you’re going for a no damage run of his fight
He’ll still do small amounts of damage to you even with the tear. Most people trying to no hit Mogh have to out-dps his phase transition and kill him before nihil.
Placidusax is one of my favorite bosses. His name is derived from the Latin Placidus, meaning peaceful/gentle/calm; we basically walked in while a dragon was sleeping/regenerating and killed him. If you inspect him closely the wings look ragged and there are scars everywhere. at 13:45 you can see a stump where a neck and head should be, then just after that around 13:50 when he rears up you can see 2 limp necks with missing heads(one is hanging down on our right, and one is wrapped under the arm on our left, pointing up). We fought him like 40% power if we're just talking head count, and that makes this fight all the more incredible to me. This Dragonlord was nowhere near full strength and still pulled out enough lightning to make Gwyn shiver; just imagine him at full strength.
I have a sneaking suspicion if we get a DLC for this game that involves time travel we might get this guy at full strength and that makes me so excited. We finally have a dragon that stands tall next to Midir that makes me feel like I am fighting an ancient all powerful dragon and I love it
Not even gonna lie, Malenia was the most abuse I ever took in a fight, period. I already had Black Knife Tiche at +10 and was level 160 and still took a solid 8 hours to beat her. That being said, it was the most glorious victory I've ever had in a long time.
@@dedexter88 i just feel like this boss was a let down to me, i went in level 120 with a +10 moonveil and a +10 mimic, needless to say it was a breeze, she offered some difficulty but nowhere close to where people were describing her, she has low health, here moves are predictable and shes not hard to stagger, i won in less than 5 to ten tries

Malenia was if you stuck 3rd phase Isshin and Young Owl in the same arena. I thought I had seen and done it all when I killed isshin ng+7 charmless and demon bell on. Malenia took me to school
@@ready2die723 to be fair once you've beat ishiin once it's not hard to do it again because you can counter all of his attacks. But in this game beating bosses is almost more luck than slill
Not sure if you've already learned this since uploading this video, but you can completely cancel Malenia's super attack if you hit her with a frost pot during her wind-up
Hourah loux has to be my favorite fromsoft fight ever. He’s not the hardest but I was not ready for that phase 2 I saw him run at me and mistimed the dodge early and my god getting thrown 30+ feet in the air then primary lotused was the most insane and hilarious things I’ve ever seen. Needless to say I also died instantly lol
I fought malenia for 3 hours My winning run was literally me with cold nagakiba on my left hand and a dagger with Bloodhound step on my right hand Only doing 1 or 2 hits per opening The fight was so slow and excruciating. After I beat her I had lost al my sanity. I respecced my character into full dex build Changed my character from male to female Copied malenia appearance Wore her armor and weapon And now..... I am malenia Blade of miquella
Malenia killed me sooo many times that finally made me swallow my pride and start using summons. With mimic bro i could finally down her in an unending four-katana barrage of slashes
Don’t feel bad bro, malenia is an objectively unfair boss since she is the one and only enemy in the entire game who can ignore the mechanics of combat, she can alter animation in the middle of an attack and can ignore poise damage in most of her attacks without a window of opportunity, she’s not hard because she’s fast, because she deals a lot of damage or because she can heal mid battle, she’s hard because she’s effectively cheating
In case anyone didn't know: you can use a mixed physick tear to negate almost all of mogh's damage when he does his phase 2 charge up siphon attack thingy. You get it from an npc invader in one of the churches on the altus plateau
A tip with Mohg, you can find a crystal that you mix in your wonderous flask that stops him for taking your heath when he does the life steal move(he still gets health). You could also use the Mohg shackle item to lessen the health health he has left or even skip his second phase if you deal enough dmg, but this is not very reliable.
Oh weird, I misunderstood the shackles, I thought that they only worked during phase 1 like when I tested Margit's Shackle, but I guess they only work if the boss has enough health, so then it would make sense that you can use it on Mohg's phase 2 since he heals and has a more full health bar again.
FYI: Each of the Godskin Duo is susceptible to sleep. The final fight against both of them is made much, much easier if you can sleep one and focus on the other. The one that is asleep will stay asleep for a tremendously long time unless you hit him.
Yeah it's incredibly easy if you just equip Sword of St. Trina. Each only has a small health bar before they die and resurrect, so from then on it's just a matter of killing one before the other comes back.
I never actually used sleep on the duo. I got really good at dodging the fattys roll so i just kept the apostle around the pillars and focused on killing the noble when he spawned
Fun fact about the Godskin Noble, it can be quite easy to avoid the roll attack after the initial dodge if you just run behind them and follow them. They can’t turn fast enough to actually get you and you’ll be in a advantageous position to hit them when they come out of the roll.
I don't like the massive amount of Duo bosses, but I think it's relevant to consider that spirit ashes are a core mechanic that fights were balanced around.
yeah ashes make duo fights enjoyable and stuff like melenia laughable i 2nd tried her with rykards sword just spamming the weapon art while she focused the mimic its stupid at times
My issue is that ashes make the fights too easy. Balancing around that many summons many of which are extremely strong is impossible so when I used them I first tried pretty much every boss without learning literally anything about them. The mimic tear specifically should probably just be removed from the game completely, or get 3/4 of its health removed along with the ability to use hotbar items and flasks. Not using them means dealing with some of the most bullshit fights from has ever made though, and I will NEVER do a no summon run again.
Hard agree. Mimic tear is TOO strong, fully upgraded mimic tear gets boss levels of health. On top of that the mimic can heal, dodge attacks, and spam weapon arts. The summon also costs no FP which was one of the requirements to use the stronger summons in the game. Truly way too strong and trivializes the game.
You wanna know what my biggest issue with Hoarah Loux is? They had the perfect opportunity to give us an awesome fist weapon reward, they could have made you combo kicks and punches, with big attacks like roundhouse kicks or flying knees. Instead you get one of the lamest Axes ever or the most underwhelming Ash of War ever seen...
100% agree, like Bone Fist from DS2, turned you into a martial artist when power stanced, one of my favorite weapons form any souls game. Flying kicks, long ass punch combos, leg sweeps, and even a kamehameha type energy blast. Spent a lot of time in the 1v1 arena having a ton of fun with a build for it, really hoped it would make a return here.
THIS! Imagine the possibilities, Give us a weapon that turns this game into a fist-version of Sekiro as well as a combo fighting game One handed, R1 allows punches that can be combed with R2 kicks, both can be charged to make unique combos, L1 allows a Sekiro style parry and L2 allows a flurry of kicks or a stomp depending on how long it’s held Two-handed allows even more combo potential, the idea being you are now all offense, forgoing the parry, as now the bumpers are assigned to each of your fists while the triggers are your feet, you can combo the attacks up to five times and the combo changes depending on the order and the final hit of the combo changes as well, imagine just a flurry of kicks that ends in a huge wind-up punch, or straight up the Lone Shadow kicks combo. The best part? Two handed can stun like a great sword but is balanced out by a combo ended having long recovery, knock back and stamina cost
@@UnCh4rT3D Great, I don't really care how strong it actually is. It just looks and feels lame compared to what it could have been. I have a hard time feeling like a badass, when the best I can do is gently tap the ground.
Mohg is hard, but he is a lot easier if you grab his two items. There is a crystal tear that blocks his triple ring blood loss attack and there’s another item that stuns him like his brother morgott Edit: Purifying Crystal Tear and Mohg’s Shackle for anyone who cares
The crimson tear is so easy to miss, but yeah, the phase transition gets a lot harder without it. Rather than 3 estus, it takes at most 1, and is down time you can use to catch your breath

On my third journey, I vowed to solo all the main bosses, so no mimic tears or summons. Bosses I found easier before were suddenly a lot harder, such as Mohg and Godfrey. However the hardest for me by far was Radagon and the Elden Beast, if you take both together as one fight. - even harder than Malenia. I let out the biggest sigh of relief when I finally bested it. Never want to experience that again.
@@benkulick2802 Malenia is not hard, especially with BHS. I mean she's like difficult but if you can dodge waterfowl with the sprint away and double roll then she is pretty easy
This is my first Soulsborne game, doing a Strength melee "Guts" build with the colossal Great sword, which has been called the games unofficial hard mode. No summons/tears. pure grit and willpower as a solo. Didnt realise i was downright masochistic going in this way for my first time. Finally beat the game and only have Malenia left and im finding her much MUCH harder than Radagon/Elden Beast. I love the vast differences in experience that people have in this game.
I'm doing 10 vigor run as my first playthrough and Malenia fight was fun compared to Radagon. Sure, I died to her about 100 times, but everytime I died it felt fair. I have no idea how to beat the last boss and I can't even push him/her to the second phase
fun fact: even if you kill both of the godskin duo at the same time, they still will respawn one at a time! figured this out in my new game+ run and was immensely disappointed.
I did that in my first playthrough. My first idea was to kill them both nearly simultaneously to prevent the ressurection. Seeing them both come back after thinking I had finally beaten them was quite demoralizing. Eventually went with the get both to 60%, kill one, kill the 2nd while the first is gone, and then blitz the first while the 2nd is gone.
@@DeadPixel___ Same, pretty much just cut them down without much thought. Out of all the bosses the ones I felt the hardest though were, Maliketh, Radagon/Elden Beast (these two weren't hard per say, but more of annoying), Malenia.

@@TGMS77 eh to each their own, I feel they put summons in the game for a reason and it would be silly and rude to the Devs if I didn't use it, I imagine the Dev who had to code in the ashes would be upset if people specifically chose not to use them. I get where you're coming from tho, I feel the majority of one shot magic builds are lacking the depth and adrenaline that makes a boss right truly fun and unique hence why I'm not gonna use a build like that until a seperate playthrough. Im still able to experience the fight if I have a summon helping me out so I feel it's a fair advantage over an unfair one
@@TGMS77 i wouldnt call it "easy mode" more like evening the battlefield, considering the bosses in this game literally have 8 string attack combos with lightning fast to delayed timings and make it neigh impossible to get out alive sometimes, having a reprive in the form of a distraction is less of an "easy mode" and more of a viable strategy of circumventing damage. i only was able to beat mogh in 2 tries because i was severely overlevelled after getting stuck on commander niall and overlevelling for him, the mimic only really helped in allowing me to live longer and deal more damage. the true easy mode of this game is level 65 int comet azure. that shit just rips through healthbars
Fun fact, if you apply rot to Morgott in the first phase, you can skip his second phase entirely if you don't hit him again after the point in his HP bar where it would trigger.
That just seems harder, it takes quite a while for a whole boss health Bar to run dry from rot. I beat him first try powerstancing 2 uchigitanas and it really wasn't that bad
I spent a week on the gargoyles because they did the exact opposite of what happened to you. whenever they both showed up the either comboed me into the ground at the same time or spammed so many layers of poison I died instantly to 4 or 5 layers of it. The fight was so much more obscenely difficult than any other fight in the entire game was for me.
Same here. First Time i fought as Mage-don't have to say more i guess. Second gargoyle went down in 5 Seconds. On my Paladin Build i still have to beat them, because they are constantly ganking up or killing me with poison..
I had a lot of deaths to them both doing the poison and it just perma stunning me with the fact it staggers every tick, who ever thought a poison cloud should do poise damage is evil
I honestly tried the fight once, saw that it was not only a duo but a repeat; died, respawned, and did it with the Albinauric archer lady I’ll face Malenia 1v1 before I face a gank by the fucking gargoyles
I fought Malenia and struggled with her for roughly 1 week. She is by far the most difficult video game boss I have gone against across every genre of game i have ever played.
It’s so interesting how what level you are changes difficulty so much. Radahn was the hardest so far and I’ve just entered mountaintop. Meanwhile i dumpstered Morgott in two tries.
Morgot and Godfrey were first tries for me, easy as hell. But I got my ass whooped by the Draconic Tree Sentinel 15+ times. Lol I think certain people process attack patterns differently.
@@TheInfii I think you're right about patterns because Godfrey took me forever an then Morgot i killed 3rd attempt. Do not know why but thats how it was.
I’m new to soulsborne games so I had my ass kicked multiple times, even if I was overlevelled, had an armor with good stats and 53 points into vigor, but for me personally my hardest boss was Maliketh (though I have yet to face Godfrey’s second boss fight and Radagon/Elden beast). It took me 7 hours to finally kill him, I had an impossible time to learn his attack timings and dodge them at the perfect frame so I got hit as little as possible. Still, I felt incredible when I did beat him.
It's funny how ridiculously easy Morgott is when you use the game mechanics instead of doing no hit runs / no summon runs / any other challenges etc., I did him first try with that Melina summon on my first blind walkthrough because you face him so late in the game where you are, idealy, already level 100-120. At least I thought that the capital is the last thing I was supposed to do in the game Same with Godfrey but for some reason I also had a lot of problems with Draconic Tree Sentinel and the Elden Beast at first But I have no idea why one shouldn't use the summoning bell at unfair bosses like Godskin Duo. They aren't even designed to be a double fight, it's unfair and the game wants you to use glitchy cheesy tactics that way (like using the pillars in the arena). Therefore I just summon the mimic tear there, why even care about a fair fight when they don't do it themselves lmao
ayy lmao my opinion is make radiation abit faster and give him a second phase at full strength instead of being all broken and it would be an amazing final boss
The insane thing is it took me like 3/4 hours WITH the Mimic Tear to beat Malenia. It was a close thing too towards the end of those hours. Then I remembered that you beat them all without summons. Respect man, I don't think I could do that.
@@BloopityBloop55 You can get the flask that lets you use infinite FP for 10 seconds. It allows you to use summon Tiche even if you don't have the FP for it normally.
It’s either I was overleveled or it was just my ROB but it took 3 tries for me with the mimic. You just gotta keep stacking the blood loss for the much needed staggers.
I fought Mogh, Lord of Blood at his palace WAAAAY before fighting Morgott. Didn't even encounter his other version in the sewers till endgame. Unbelievable fight that tested my limits. Only boss that I'd put on the same level is Malenia - though, she took twice as long. Loved them both
Same! Got to mohg at level 60. It was a fantastic experience to come back every now and then, trying new gear and strategies, and slowly and steadely getting further and further. Ended up beating him at level 78. Undoubtebly the best boss in the game imo
I think it was partially a mistake. Most bosses are really aggressive and relentless, giving very small windows to heal or attack because the developers counted players using very powerful summons. Like Margit... If you summon the jellyfish, you can almost completely stunlock him with a decent weapon. (just spam charged heavy attack) So playing with no summons is kind of already a challenge mode. This is especially true for duo bosses. I have nothing against people imposing extra challenges on themselves, but doing so then claiming the game is insanely hard is kind of misleading. (not saying he complains at all, I can feel the true passion for the game).
@@Debilinside yeah some fights feel like they expect it like most of the double bosses. I think that should be considered. I did everything solo like he did and while it was hard I didn't blame the bosses for my refusal to use the summon mechanic. It was a choice I made
@@HunterForHire422 I thing the bosses were designed on a way for you to use the summons, i mean most summons are not broken, is Mimic Tear the one that makes the bosses easy as fuck.
I'm probably 60% through the game and have not used summons yet as I'm a stubborn souls vet, that being said I'm not a highly skilled player and from what I've heard about some of the endgame bosses in ER like Melania, I may end up breaking that, I'll try though. If by ashes you mean the weapon arts I have been using those though.
Malenia was the first souls game boss that broke me. I didn’t throw my controller in rage, I pressed it to my forehead in despair. I did finally beat her after going with a summon, but damn. I did my best on my own.
In my opinion, Malenia having healing on every hit, combined with her damage output, makes her an actually bulls*** boss. I don't care if the boss is really fast and hits like a truck, I'm used to that, both from Bloodborne and bosses like Friede in DS3. But that healing just makes it so goddamn annoying. I'm pretty sure she'd have been beaten by more people if she didn't heal back every time that she hit you.
I hope in a future game from take note and never BUT NEVER make a boss that heal everytime hits you and an undodgeabble attack that one shot FUCK MALENIA
@@3lote997 Nothing she does in undodgeable. Difficult to read for sure, but most certainly dodgeable. Also if you get one shot you probably need to get around 1800 hp and the greatshield talisman that you can find right before her grace site. Gives a lot more wiggle room.
@Conrad Werth Sadly she isn't the only boss that is hard because of bs mechanics. I feel the same way with maliketh. Incredibly agile boss with range and a sword? Let's give him a poison-esque damage and a temporary max health decrease! :) I sadly have to say that there weren't too many bosses in this game who's difficulty I found enjoyable. There's always at least one aspect that turns the usually fun challenge into a storm of annoyance.
The real hero against Malenia is a random summon with generic knight armor. They did so well and we did great as a team. Amazing what a pair of strangers can accomplish.
I think sharing that experience makes it almost better. I beat her with a guy who spammed the thing that talks and says "Lets get to it". I thought he was going to be absolutely OP and one shot her or something, but he was just another normal guy like me. I had a frost Greatsword, he had a bleed katana and a couple of spells, i has tanking hits, dodging the flurries with bloodhound step and breaking her stance with jump attacks while he triggered bleed and aggroed her while I ran away to heal. Great teamwork, awesome fight, amazing experience
True that. Even I defeated her with a random guy named sekiro. He had a great sword with bloodhound step and when he took the aggro I'd spam my spells and divert the aggro to me. And when she aggros me he comes in for the help. He does huge posture damage while I go for the riposte with my frost + bleed katana. Props to that guy!
Malenia is without question the hardest boss I've ever fought across all of the Soulsborne games, beating out Ebrietas from Bloodborne who was the prior hardest for me. I didn't want to cheese her or use summons and I nearly went insane. Took me 86 tries over 2 days 7 hours (3 on day 1, 4 on day 2) to finally conquer her and nearly a third of those were just on phase 1. There were so many times where she would get me with her scarlet rot and then curbstomp me with her flurry attack. I was nearly crying from relief and joy at finally beating her and finishing my first playthrough.
This whole 'summons are cheese' meta that's going along cracks me up man, the bosses are literally tuned for summons, which is why these bosses are so difficult and have insane amounts of HP. If summons weren't intended they'd have scaled down the HP of most bosses so they don't drag on so long. I've been playing these games for 13 years and find no shame in summoning. Same with people who think mage builds are 'easy mode', I always run dex personally but it's in the game for a reason, and From Soft have balanced everything around. Saying this, Mimic Tear could possibly use a HP nerf
@@rayvon7534 i kinda agree to it. altough i dont use mage builds, bosses are tuned to use different attacks depending on what range you are and if you are attacking or uisng an Item. that Mages have an easier time is the fault of the developers to not include sufficient challenge for range builds if anything
@@rayvon7534 I agree that summons were intended. But unfortunately while the game is probably too difficult without summons, atleast the required bosses anyways,, its also way too easy with them. its unfortunate. I beat melania my second try after giving in and using mimic tear
@@rayvon7534 there’s no shame in it. But the fact is it makes the game considerably easier and ruins the experience for a lot of veteran players. So imo I prefer to play the game with 2 handing a weapon and nothing more. No disrespect to anyone who doesn’t want to play the game like this
yeah cause she heals hitting the mimic, killed her on my third try with bloodhound fang, you can stagger her pretty easy the only real problem is the second phase.
I just beat her today after 4-5 tries and I was level 170 something but I lucked out and she went after my mimic ash and we was just spamming sword of night and flame which melts her health. Still though she is definitely the most difficult boss I’ve faced in Elden ring.
For how many gank bosses Elden Ring has, it's hilarious that none of them are deliberate duo designs. You don't have an Ornstein/Smough or a Friede/Ariandel situation in the game, it's ALWAYS two minibosses thrown together without thought put into it.
I beat the godskin duo last night and they were a nightmare I'm using dual katana build so I have to get up close and your right about those two groups they were designed to be half to a greater whole but most duo bosses from has made suck and godskin is the epitome of this
Fortunately most of them are completely optional with the exception of the Foreskin duo, it's honestly probably just a result of of having so many bosses to put in the game, it's bound to happen.
they somehow bring the best part of dark souls 3 and one of (if not) the worst part of dark souls 2 into this game. Idea for boss's diversity is running low, what to do, well, 2 of them in the same room. And wait, theres more, the same 2 guys in the room you fought last time but they heal each other. I mean, come on, it wasnt like they unbeatable but its not fun, it like something you want to get rid of cus well, you already bought the game so lets play it through.
The thing is, i feel like the gargoyles and foreskin duo are designed to be fought together and their miniboss appearances are just prep for the real fights.
Don't forget that Mohg gets a strenght buff everytime a blood loss occurs in the area basically one shoting you with his downward slam if he bleeds you before once
I defeated every boss in this list just in a couple of hours max each during my gaming sessions... Except two demigods: Radahn took me one day and Malenia was literally worth a whole week of retries.
@@GauTrang_3e3 this is relatable. But, to be fair I embraced the summons for Radahn because I like story related summons. I dread going back to fight him without them on my second character.

In all of the souls borne bosses, I never experienced such a struggle until I met malenia. Definitely wasn’t “fun” but dammit it was rewarding killing her. I put her in the same spot as the evil within akumo mode. Basically saying, it’s a nice ride but I’m definitely not getting on again
Completely agree about the not fun aspect. I was way more annoyed than I was having fun. Only reason I beat her is because I got lucky and she didn't use the waterfowl dance on my winning bid.
I'll put your comparison and the fact I've completed akumo mode as well as achieved all trophies of both Evil within and Bloodborne as a means of giving me hope that I wont struggle too miserably when I finally take on Malenia
hard disagree about Malenia's fight not being fun. I ran a dual-wield build when I fought her my first time (straight swords at first, but I transitioned to scimitars with Bloodhound's Step eventually), and though it still took hundreds of times for me to learn her moveset, I still found her to be not only engaging, but thrilling as I danced with her among those flowers. Perhaps it's just because I'm insane, but I adore her fight, and can't wait to get to her on my other files to experience her again with all of those different playstyles.
@@theDeModcracy Aren't there like 80-something minibosses? How many videos is that going to take?! (Btw, Crucible Knight is a Pontiff/Gwyn-like situation where you can parry him to make the fight much easier, so take that into account.)
@@HunterForHire422 Yeah, I quite literally discovered it on accident when I accidently hit the parry button and he opened up for a riposte (it was at 3:00 am, I wasn't really paying attention to the buttons I was pressing), made all of his fights much easier, just roll the magic/shield bash and jump the stomp and parry the rest.
So strange when I hear people struggled with Morgott-- beat him on my first try in a strength build and assumed he was some sort of mini-boss reskin of Margit because he died so easily. Took me a while to realize he was a very significant character in the lore of the game.
A quick tip for fighting Mohg: There is a crystal tear for your physick flask that you find along Yura's questline that negates the damage from his phase transition. He'll still heal, but this gives you an opening to chip him down a bit and save you some flasks.
I came here to say the same thing. I felt there had to be a trick and laughed when it actually worked. I still died a bunch as he literally tries to blind the player from what is coming.
Malenia was one of those fights that made me glad I chose to try a magic build. Still wasn’t easy by any means but man I did not envy melee builds for that one.
What are your current stats? Your mind and intelligence? I’m building mine and don’t know when the best time is to fight big bosses. I’m level 54 astrologer.
That three rounds of one million attacks per second move is probably one of the most OP moves ive ever seen, i would be holding my own againts her until she whips that out and then its instant death. Ive always had a feeling that we THINK weve seen difficult bosses, but if Fromsoft REALLY wanted to make a difficult boss then they could be doing so much worse! Its scary to think they're probably holding back and are learning and adapting our tendencies. What i love about this game is it feels like its made towards the vets who think theyve seen it all
@@kaseymelkonian9587 If you're level 54 you're MILES away from even spitting in the general direction of Malenia so don't worry about that. Anything less than 40 VIG and you're dead instantly (and can still get one-shotted by most attacks). Just keep poking around the world. If a boss is ever too hard then leave and go elsewhere. I didn't kill Malenia until I had 40VIG, 40MIN, 30DEX, and 80INT. Used Mimic Tear+10 (Moonveil equipped) and spammed cold pebble spell phase 1 (to apply frostbite). Then phase 2 all in on defense until she flowers and then blast her from range. Took about 3 flowers before I managed to end her.
@@TarasiosW Thanks for this info! I only beat Margit and he wasn’t bad. Beat some other cave bosses too. I’ve got ways to go. I’m just exploring now and leveling up as much as possible! I wasn’t even going to try the bigger bosses until I’m a bit more powerful! This is helpful though!
The interesting thing about Godskin Duo is that although killing one doesn't "do anything" because he respawns after a while, the respawn timer is long enough to allow you to kill or mostly kill the other one, as long as you play somewhat aggressive. So even though it's not my favorite fight mechanically, I admit that I like the concept a lot of rewarding aggression. Aside from the beginning which was tough, I seldom had to fight two of them at once after the first kill.
Its insane how different of an experience everyone had with these bosses. I downed Morgott on my first attempt and it was one of the most rewarding moments in the game for me, but got my absolute ass handed to me by Godfrey/Hoarah Loux, taking over 20 attempts.
@@bighatastrea yeah same, i think ur actually supposed to beat him before radahn based on the scaling of enemies in the cealid area the order is supposed to be something like this limgrave > liurnia > capitol > mt. gelmir > cealid
@@vincent78433 I thought it's Limgrave - Liurnia - Caelid - Altus Plateau - City. Because I think Radahn's recommended lvl is 70. And when I was done with Liurnia, I was lvl 65 or something. But if you're talking about Eastern part of Caelid (where the Bestial Sanctum is) you're right, enemies and bosses are endgame stuff there.
Tip for the dual gargoyle fight. Stay crouched the whole time. Due to their large height many of their attacks won’t hit you when crouched. STAY crouched and the fight will be much easier.
I found a rock on the backside and jumped up where they couldn't hit with most attacks. When they were distracted by summons, I fried them with azure. Nice little cheese.
crazy how everyones experience varys wildly. he put Godfrey first elden lord so low. in my own playthrough he was like number 5 i would say if not 4th hardest. i killed godskin duo in 3 attempts and godfrey took me like 25attempts lol.
Exactly what i was thinking! I see almost everyone having different opinion on some bosses difficulty, I killed godfrey on my 3rd attempt, and it took me like 50 to kill Morgot.
@@DJRyby facts , i hp maxed to 1715 and then went on riot, like morgot on 2rd attempt and godfrey on 2nd attempt and still have to learn magic so to survive had to boost the hp ,surely one hell of a game and how it varys
It amazes me how these bosses' difficulty seems to depend on the build. For the first 30 or so hours, I used a sorcerer/spellblade build and I didn't really run into many issues until I ran into Mogh. Mogh easily killed me 40 or so times before I called it quits and respec'd into a bleed build. I still then only just managed to beat him because I got the purifying tear. The only other boss that gave me issues aside from Mogh was Malenia. I first tried my Int build and she killed me 7 or so times before I had enough and I came back respec'd in a Bleed build with a fully upgraded Rivers of Blood. The weapon art on it absolutely punishes her when she leaves you openings and her phase 1 was pretty much a joke for it. Phase 2, on the other hand, yeah it took me a few more tries to beat her phase 2. I really did enjoy fighting Melania because it felt like a dance between two blade masters.
Yes, that range on corpse pileris what wrecked her for me. Start it early enough and let her walk into it. And yes phase 2 took a little more finesse but it also works there too
Malenia is the only boss where I had to throw my greatsword build out of the window and just grab up a bleed weapon. The greatsword was too slow to get good damage on her before she would just heal it all back up. But bleed is just busted and takes chunks out of her health bar.
If you're running a strength build I've had a lot of success with Hoarfrost stomp on the twinblade. It's an odd strategy but the damage it puts out on top of the Frostbite procs it's absolutely wild. It takes a bit of getting used to and you'll still have to dodge her but it can stun on hit and allow you to melt her HP. That being said, best of luck with anime wombo combo as that has demolished everything I've tried other than a great shield with Barricade which still allows her to heal but at least you're not dead in the process XD.
Status building weapons in general are nutty in this game, and dex really lets you take advantage. First FromSoft game I didn't play through first with a strength build.
@@samuelvibritannia4831 STR builds are total garbage in this game. I’m on the final boss and I’ve only used mimic once so I’m playing “legit”. It’s sucks
Never once have I been stuck on a boss for as long as malenia, before the sword saint was the hardest. Took me about 1 and a half to 2 hours to beat him while she took me 3 days.
I just felt disappointed after the fight cause she could’ve been one of my favorite bosses but instead I beat her with a mimic and literally respec’d to a rivers of blood build which I tried to avoid the whole time. If you remove her healing capability and add just a bit more of a window to dodge during the flurry she would’ve been an S tier boss all around. Her design and cutscenes are art.
@@edindjc8735 honestly I have no problem with her healing as it isn’t much different than sekiro bosses refining posture as it only happens if you mess up. The flurry strike is terribly design and nearly ruins the fight but if you use bloodhound’s step the fight still manages to be amazing
I beat her tonight, after 3 days. It didn’t even feel good to win, i just bum rushed her with mimic and used moonveil weapon art and got good enough r&g on my winning run. It felt like i had stopped the bleeding of an open wound when i finally beat her. Didn’t smile or pop off or anything
Tried to win with no summons for two days because I wanted the sword and great tune, but eventually I gave in and beat her first try with mimic tear at level 148. I’ll need to go back to try again on a later playthrough
The night I beat Malenia after 6 days of attempts and hundreds of deaths, I screamed so loudly that my roommate thought my mom just died or something. Probably the first time a game physically exhausted me to the point where I felt lightheaded when going out to dinner with my girlfriend after. Easily the most memorable boss I have ever fought, with the sole exception being Zant from Twilight Princess for extremely personal and sentimental reasons
I feel like the “what if there were 2?” bosses, especially in the late game, are meant to be countered with “well now there are 2 of me, too” with the mimic tear summon. Godskin Duo is pretty easy if you have a tankier clone of yourself taking agro and dealing big damage. Also the Godskin Noble’s hilt slam attack can be parried.
This honestly feels like a problem that wove itself into the core thesis for the encounter design in the game as early as Margit. The mid-late game bosses are at least not as bullshit, giving you a fair whack at the no summon playthrough. But when they got to the end they decided that they had to make the difficulty all encompassing for everything you have at your disposal. The hilarious thing is that for the Elden Beast the summons barely even help. They created an amalgamation of bullshit that doesn't get evened out by having a summon.
@@bladechild2449 I thought the Mimic helped with Elden Beast. Or at least it helped a lot with Radagon, so that I was more prepared for the Elden Beast.
I wouldn't say it's "meant" to be that way. Especially given how easy it is to miss the Mimic Tear ashes in general. It's an effective counter, but I can imagine many players who didn't 100% the game on their first playthrough missed that thing.
@@dralakba-dusk31 yeah he made the ai of the elden beast stay still for the last like 25% of his which i hacked away at it did leave me feeeling guilty about killing him that way but i had died too many times to him and radagon before hand so i said fuck it XD
i agree. a lot of this game seems geared around some variety of co-op. all the purists are like "don't use ashes git gud scro". well fuck me. don't use a sword then. or any weapon for that matter. and forget leveling you filthy casual. just use your base character and fists like god and miyazaki intended. it's such a silly argument. USE. THE. TOOLS. THE. GAME. GIVES. YOU. or don't, i don't give a shit. you do you.
@Weyland Punani Well, what they intended and what the result is are mutually exclusive. Spirit Ashes trivialize the game to a point that I tend to not use them personally, and I don't think they intended to have them make fights so easy.
I think ashes are almost like an in built difficulty slider. Wanna get your ass pounded? Don't use em. I was a bit disappointed how easy radahn was with all the friendly summons and haven't used them since
@@janusthemanus1416 i agree, spirit ashes should be better balanced, some are pathetic, some are godlike, but after you level most of them up, they simply make the game too easy, I'd like to be able to use them without trivializing the bosses, I was fighting malenia by myself and was getting wrecked, summond a lv10 mimic, and voila, the mimic could almost solo her, that doesn't make sense
Malenia was the fight that made me decide to go full cheese. Hoarfrost stomping with a +25 weapon and my Mimic doing the same made her die. It was quite the hoedown
I did that, went full cheese mode PLUS summoning 2 online players to help me, after 30 or so tries I still could not beat her. Either my summoned players would be just as bad as me or she'd focus me with the flurry attack and instakill me unless I managed to dodge through it. Then I tried again this morning just playing it normally with mimic tear (i had tried this many times) and somehow beat her second try. Not sure what I did differently but I guess I got gud.
I got a glitch that made her have like 1 hp when she entered her second phase. Only reason I won within this century considering how much trouble I had in phase 1.
@@SorowFame I actually got that too on one try. Had my mimic use blood loss weapons (twin katanas) and I used the hoarfrost stomp with weapons all maxed. She just came in with one health and it was so out of nowhere, i accidentally died because i didn't pay attention enough.
Morgott is one of my favorite bosses, learning all of his moves was a lot of fun and never felt unfair. When i finally mastered them it just clicked, different from other bosses. Fighting him with only a ultra sword and no summons was so much fun for me.
ngl, i summoned melina for the fight(i mean, your firekeeper fighting with you? i couldn't miss the chance) and got him first try... no clue if melina is just that strong or if he's one of the few bosses whose ai sucks against multiple opponents, because i used oleg against a lot of bosses and most of them managed mine and his aggro pretty well... but not morgott, he just kept attacking melina without ever managing to kill her.
@@iota-09 yeah my first playthrough i used mimic tear and beat him first try but my second run through he was a really fun and interesting boss to fight
One thing I found with Malenia is that she’s particularly susceptible to guard counters, which I guess is why they made her attacks heal even on block. That said, used conservatively along with bleed and parries it’s possible to get several ripostes in
@@KoKKoPoeKaa No, you can't. The blood loss will hit you for a percentage of your max hp, can't be i-framed, can't be blocked, can't be tanked even with a max bleed resistance build. I wish I could fight malenia in sekiro. She really feels like a sekiro boss pulled straight into Elden ring. She’d probably be way easier with sekiro mechanics but I think it would just look and feel amazing
Yeah in sekiro her waterfowl dance if you could deflect it perfectly which would be made easy using the magnetic umbrella then you would get a huge chunk of posture damage on her. Also sekiro has info it's sprint and a really fast sprint at that so you could just run away too.
There is an item called Mohg's Shackle that can be found in the Subterranean Grounds and Mohg can be stunned with it twice during a fight. In the real fight with him it only works in the first phase though.
Yeah its kinda a bummer that it only works for phase one because phase one is really easy to deal with. Also there is the cleansing flask which removes his curse so that his transition into phase 2 does very little damage to you.
I thought I’d be able to shackle him right before his Latin attack, but shame it doesn’t. I still won but it’d honestly be such a cool and rewarding strategy
There’s also a bug, before entering the fog to fight Mog where if you use the shackle 3 times right in front of the fog and then enter, he’ll bug. Although if you stagger him during the bugged fight he will resume the battle like usual.
I think it's pretty funny that if you do about 25% damage to him right off the bat he'll just stand still spamming his ring move and you can kill him before he even enters phase two
I feel lucky seeing how many people struggled with godskin duo, I beat them on my first try. However i paid for it in some way because I was stuck on Radahn for days and Malenia for days.
I know for sure everybody gets a fluke victory on a boss. I killed Malenia without even figuring out how to dodge the flurry attack. If I try a 2nd playthrough I know that will be a 5+ hour hellhole. *Also I think Bloody Helice special attack allowed me to easily dodge everything but the flurry.
@@SlippyLegJones Bloody helice is an amazing weapon in general. Tbf duo bosses can be dealt with just by being patient. The godskin duo for instance you can just run from if they aren't both enraged. Because they mostly resort to just throwing easy to dodge fireballs and aren't very agressive about closing the range with you. It's how I managed to first try them without Mimic Tear. Just run away until they split up. Of the two I personally find Godskin Noble easiest to deal with.
@@SlippyLegJones I had this with maliketh going into the second phase I did one jumping heavy and he staggered I did the punish lion's roar weapon art and one more attack killed him on like my 20th attempt though. @@jel8141 funny thing, there's an item that lets you parry some of his second phase attacks. This leaves him open for a very long time to attack. You can find it a bit before the fight if you explore. But the timing is tight, so if you fuck it up you will get fucked up by Malekith hard.
I'm someone that tends to learn fast. Bosses don't take me that long since i can kinda memorize their moveset early on and then it's just having patience until a good opening appears... Until Malenia. Jesus, i have NEVER suffered as much as i did with that attack. I forgot to keep a tally, but i'd say 70 deaths is a good guess. It got to a point where i could do a perfect battle just to perish at the Waterfowl Dance move. It was infuriating yet, the rest of the fight is so good (Both in moveset and overall ambience as well as music) so i just kept going (Stubborn as a mule) decided to beat her. I learned how to dodge it. I HAD TO LEARN HOW TO DODGE THE WATERFOWL DANCE "Let me solo her" STYLE. And you know what? that felt both horrible for making me go above and beyond conventional means to defeat a boss, but really rewarding when i finally pulled it off. Hands down the hardest boss in the series just for the healing on impact and Waterfowl Dance alone. Literally screamed so hard when i beat her my neighbours called me to see if i was doing ok.
I feel like knowing Margit was there at the castle due to the CNT, I went and explored entire Limgrave and I was hearing how he was nerfed cause people found him too hard, but when I went in he didn't even put up a fight. I think they were assuming one would turn back on seeing margit's difficulty and explore.....and I believe that's the case for a lot of bosses. If one explores thoroughly I think a lot of bosses become WAY easier as there always will be an item or talisman that helps, a weapon, spell or ash of war that can melt the boss.
@@GentlemanJasper Yeah, I carved him apart in a few seconds with that. Fighting bosses without their specific items is like fighting Yhorm the Giant or Storm King without the Storm Ruler. Doable, but not intended.
I didn't even explore all that much. I was excited to try Margit myself after all the CNT footage I watched, strolled up as a level 8 wretch with no chest or head armor and a +1 club, and beat him pretty smoothly on my 3rd attempt. To this day, and likely for a long time to come, I don't understand why people struggle with him.
I jokingly summoned Melina for the Morgott fight, thinking that she would just be shit and die fairly quickly, but she was god tier for my fight, ridiculously aggressive and constantly drawing his agro, so I never got to really experience how difficult Morgott can be. For my next playthrough I will be sure to try and 1v1 him, I've heard he was really difficult.
This. It's crazy how Spirit and NPC summons radically change this list for me. lol. Even at the same level some of the easier bosses seem WAY harder to me.
While Malenia is without question the hardest, I still wonder what Radahn would have been like if he hadnt lost his mind by taking her bio-bomb to the face. From what I understand, all we ever saw was a fraction of Radahn's power.
@@jordan.d1475 no he was using gravity magic to hold the stars at bay thats not a power fantasy headcannon all the characters even state it. He holds the stars and a meteor at bay while rotted... But we don't know for certain it's just likley. He was the strongest demigod outside of melania and honestly if he was not holding back the stars nor rotted...he'd be as bad or most likley worse than malenia.
One thing I discovered helping my friend fight Mohg after respecing into a Caster to get ready for NG+ is that Mohg's Big Blood attack actually isn't infinite range. If you are far enough away (though I doubt that a melee up in his face when he starts it will get far enough away in time) you just avoid the whole thing. And he doesn't move once he begins casting it.
As a mage my boss rankings were completely different Godskin Duo was one of the easiest for me while Rennala was easily the second hardest. Its super interesting to see how other builds experienced the game!
Rennala went down like a sack of bricks when I took her. Weaving around a colossal weapon. Colossal weapons and jump attacks stagger like no other. I didn't get to see some a lot of her magic. Didn't even know about moon magic until very recently lol
Mages find the hardest bosses usually criminally easy. Since ranged 15,000 dmg spells are pretty effective against bosses with a moveset and a health bar.
What. Rannala as a mage is one of the easiest bosses, and this is my first DS game, I can't dodge shit yet. Just throw gravity rocks at her that deal physical damage and she staggers all over the place and doesnt even have much time in the 2rd phase, actually making her 1st phase the hardest of the two.
As a mage I can totally relate. I've beaten Godskin Duo at my first try, and I didn't even know I was going to the boss arena XD I've also killed Rhedan in maybe second try. But God, Rennala took me around 40 attempts. And The worst part is that after each death, you have to run a fucking maraton, and then kill that biting bitches, wich allways took you around 3/4 minutes, before you can start the accual fight... I have also struggle with Rykard, cuz he could easly oneshot me with each attack, and with that Lion-Beast-Thing, cuz it's so damn quick that you can't even cast a spell. As you say, it's really intrasting to see how people with different builds play, and how they suffer with some bosses.
The hardest part about the elden beast is depth perceptiion. With the Arena and the looks of the beast its sometimes really hard to gauge how far away it actually hits which messes with timings a fair bit
yeah, ngl if not for that i wouldn't even have died once, mind you i was also using dual greatsword and abusing to no end the heavy jump attack so i had range and damage for days, but still...
Malenia was deffo the hardest for me aswell. Out of all the move sets in the entire series, that leap into the air into the combos is the one attack i've never figured out how to actually handle. So my strat basically became to stunlock her with a gs + lions claw, throw everything to prevent her from even doing the attack, then second phase abuse takers flame while she is in the flower.
Fun Fact that makes Godskin Duo even harder, if you do manage the kill both of them they still both come back until the healthbar is gone. One attempt of mine I killed them both thinking I won because they were both dead at the same time but nope they'll just ressurect themselves back I guess.
I will not lie... I pulled out the laser sorcery with the infinite fp physick to absolutely laser the two of them down while mimic tear hoarfrost stomped his way into the aggro table. If you start the laser as they move into next phase you can consume the hp bar, and kill the revive.
I must have done 40 attempts to help coop her as practice. Only one suceeded and they player joyously ran laps around me and emoted (I basically soloed the last 6th of her health bar when they ran out of healing) I found that dual spears consistently staggered her and putting on the bloodhound strap was the only way to consistently dodge her flying combo
@@travisbewley7084 there's a fingerprint shield build that cost 0 stamina to block pair it with a spear and you can solo malenia like she's nothing I tried it today on NG+1 and I'm so happy to take that sweet revenge on her

yeah the Purifying Crystal Tear is only good for Mohg as it lets you cancel his binding three rings attack....or just forget to equip the right Physick and heal through it like I did!
You can also get a shackle, same as the one you can get for Margit, so root him twice in the fight. If you want a cheese strat, you can use mimic and hoarfrost stomp him to death through his phase transition.
Malenia is the only boss in a soulsbourne that I literally had to swap my build to succeed. my double colossal great sword str faith build into a 60 dex bleeding frostbite build so I could burst and minimize the chance she decides to use her super slash attack to basically kill me. It also required me to keep the mimic above 60% hp cause mimic likes to change into her phase 2 explosion and lose 30% hp to scarlet hp. Every other boss was a first or second try in the late game, but I thank my mimic for that.

The curved sword running L1 is 4 hits and regular L1 is 2 or 3 I think and bleed and frostbite proc via separate bars so the more hits you get in the larger burst, throw in the mimic whose literally me doing the same thing the burst is outrageous. For my core build for the game, I rocked greatsword +25 and grafted greatsword (both colossal) until after Maleketh then greatsword was replaced with his I just kinda ran into boss fights with mimic and we just jumping L1 every boss trading aggro lol. It feels like at a certain point your level is just softcapped and nothing you do really substantially affects the power of your character. Given how little margin for error there is due to bloated numbers you could probably just do the second half of the game naked and have about the same results. It’s a really confusing design decision that feels poorly thought out.
@@cronotriggered4314 every Soulsborne (bar DS1) goes nuts in the second half. It isn't as bad or poorly thought out as some might say (except Godskin Duo, those are trash).
Watching this and your "unbalanced difficulty" video really made me realize I had a lot more fun with the "easier" bosses. I felt accomplished when I beat them. Not because they were easy, but because they felt more fair. Bosses that instantly get out of an attack, leave no down time, and attack again are not fun. If some of the "easier" bosses had some more HP I think they would have been challenging but fair. The fact that most of these bosses almost require a summon if you want to beat them in less than 30 tries just feels wrong in a series that is about challenging, but fair, 1v1 fights. I died dozens of times to some of these "harder" bosses before summoning others. The result was usually that we would get much closer to a win due to the aggro being split. Winning after summoning 10 different people did not give me that sense of accomplishment, because it felt like I had to summon or waste an entire weekend on the boss. I never felt the need to summon in any other Souls game, rather summoning in those games felt like a way to just beat the boss faster if I wanted to get to a certain item/spell/whatever. Also I personally dislike how many bosses are bigger than my screen. I died so many times because I could not see the boss attack because their arm was off my screen. You can use sleep jars on the Godskin Duo boss. I did not know those items existed until I looked at the Duo's Wiki page. Personally I would not rank them that high if you use those items.
I feel the same way. Endless combos and no time to attack after those combos are over. Also your endurance meter is gone, and then you just get wrecked. Plus the bosses that can heal themselves. I felt like the developers put the mimic tear summon in there because they knew their bosses were a little unfair.
the game was mainly designed around spirit summons or npc summons and some coop which is why some bosses are super easy especially if you over level and gear early on or if you somehow hit well over lvl 200 by end game of your first playthrough not newgame.
In addition, both Margit and Mohg have shackles you can use on them to stun them for a period of time. I also have an item that nullifies the black blade. I didn't use it at the time, but I'm guessing it nullifies the burn\health drain effect. Now if only there is a counter to Malenia's healing. I suspect she's supposed to have a moving health bar ala Bloodborne, as that's what her rune implies, but it doesn't seem to work that way.
Let's go the second part is here i am sure it's gonna be crazy some of the final bosses also i am glad to see you streaming again demod hope for the best
I can't wait to see how the community rankings compare to these. Since it's open world and alot of bosses can be fought at different times it will be interesting to see what fights move up and down on the list based on multiple runs of info
I am pretty sure number 1 will always be Malenia. I was Level 150 with an insane Dex build. She is relentless and totally destroyed my no summon run. I summoned different players just to see how others fight against her. Never mind that, they got deleted in phase 1. In the end I had to create a completely different build and use the Mimic summon to defeat her, which left a sore aftertaste…
It's going to vary so much depending on what level people were when they fought the bosses. I struggled way more with Margit than Morgott for example. I haven't reached the later bosses yet but Radahn was by far the hardest one I've faced so far, at the time he could one shot me at any point. Whereas with Morgott I managed to kill him in 2 attempts thanks to exploring for a while and doing optional bosses.
Yeah I always take these with a grain of salt. Not that they’re poorly made or anything, I love these videos everytime they’re made. But I find mine and my friends experiences with the games and bosses much different everytime.
@@TheCaptnJakk I feel like Malenia will drop at least a few places once people figure out how to avoid her big combo, there are already guides on how to do it and once you know the trick that combo (which seems to be one of the main points people keep on bringing up about her difficulty, the other point being her life steal) becomes pretty trivial probably the main difference in community rankings will be summons though, I feel like a lot of these bosses were clearly made with ash summons in mind (Radahn was clearly made with summoning in general in mind) which made a few of the placements on DeModcracy's list feel a bit odd to me. the Godskin Duo for example, throw in a tanky ash summon and it basically becomes a 1v1 against whichever one you decide is easier, all the while your summon is basically doing free damage to the other one and therefore progressing the big healthbar. I summoned NPCs (I can understand some of the stigma against player summoning in fromsoft games but I feel like NPC summons are a core part of the games and help me to get emotionally invested in the characters since they are providing direct benefit to me) for Margit and Morgott and neither of them would even be in my top 20 for difficulty in this game. I've seen videos of Malenia getting stunlocked by ash summons. Mimic Tear can utterly trivialise some things if you go in with the right build. personally my top 3 would be 3. Malekith 2. Rennala (squishy long ranged sorcery build vs a boss that can hit me from further away than I could hit her, could one-shot me with several of her attacks, and was extremely resistant to my main form of damage. ended up having to melee her to death with a completely unupgraded sword sword and the same strength and dex stats that I'd started the game with) 1. Radahn (all of his attacks could one-shot me. turns out that if you let the summons die too often they stop coming back for that attempt)
As stated by more viewers here, the difficulty is heavily dependant on your build. I defeated Morgot last night, only dying once. I use a Sorcery build so I pretty much always have a window to attack him when he is still in animation, but I can imagine he is an absolute pain when full melee. He almost leaved no openings.
I just beat him with melee last night, also second try. Having a spirit to distract him and using my shield heavily helped me win, though it took a lot of healing and was still a challenging fight nonetheless
he wasnt that hard with my strenght claymore melee build, beat him a few days ago. but I think thats partly a mindset thing bc I expected godfrey and seeing that its only morgott took away a lot of stress
PSA: You can keep attacking a dead godskin in the godskin duo while he is the death animation to keep damaging their health bar. You can get about 3000 damage before he is gone and respawn.

Same happened to me. The skinny one was resummoned then the fat one then he just died randomly it was weird.
That happened to me twice. I was really happy at first and thought I'd beaten the boss without depleting it's health bar fully, then apostle resurrected and killed me a few seconds later.
You can put them to sleep. They stay down for a long time too so you can deal with one at a time
This, in my opinion, would make the fight actually bearable, I thought this would be how it worked, so I took my sweet time trying to kill them both in the same window, when I finally did it imagine my elation when no "Enemy Felled" appeared and the skinny fuck just materialized alone out of thin air and then summoned his fat friend. Getting them both to die in the same window takes enough determination, I feel like it would be appropriate if the fight could end like that.
Here’s some perspective:
I died to the Godskin Duo twice. I died to Malenia 119 times.
Godskin Duo got nerfed a bit since this video was posted. Malenia however... did not.

So interesting how your build can influence the difficulty so drastically. Morgott I beat on my second try, while Rennala violated me with her staff for hours.
yeah, some bosses with heavy colossal swords builds are ez and others specially the ones that barely stager are hell
This. Hugely impacts the game and how certain bosses fair. Dragons were easy but Godfrey tormented me
It’s funny you say that cause it took me till I had over 300 hours in the game to realize that.
There’s a tear you can get from an invader that is in a church on the Altus plateau that completely nullifies Mohg’s blood ritual, allowing you to get quite a few hits in while denying his damage and healing. Makes the physik basically nessarcary if you’re going for a no damage run of his fight
What church
He’ll still do small amounts of damage to you even with the tear. Most people trying to no hit Mogh have to out-dps his phase transition and kill him before nihil.
It doesn’t completely mitigate the curse but it takes about 95% of the damage away from it. No damage run is impossible for Mohg I’m pretty sure
We finally have a dragon that stands tall next to Midir that makes me feel like I am fighting an ancient all powerful dragon and I love it
Imagine if it was indeed Gwyn who blasted two of his heads off with lightning.

That's how I did it also. Sleep pots on Noble first, then keep cycling. Made it a breeze.
Equipping Mimic Tear with Sleep pots did it for me.
I never actually used sleep on the duo. I got really good at dodging the fattys roll so i just kept the apostle around the pillars and focused on killing the noble when he spawned
Only gays use sleep. Fight like a man
Fun fact about the Godskin Noble, it can be quite easy to avoid the roll attack after the initial dodge if you just run behind them and follow them. They can’t turn fast enough to actually get you and you’ll be in a advantageous position to hit them when they come out of the roll.
I don't like the massive amount of Duo bosses, but I think it's relevant to consider that spirit ashes are a core mechanic that fights were balanced around.

@@maltep9659 sword of night and flame blasting her with Kamehameha waves from two sources was fun. That weapon definitely puts the game on easy mode.

Imagine the possibilities, Give us a weapon that turns this game into a fist-version of Sekiro as well as a combo fighting game
One handed, R1 allows punches that can be combed with R2 kicks, both can be charged to make unique combos, L1 allows a Sekiro style parry and L2 allows a flurry of kicks or a stomp depending on how long it’s held
Two-handed allows even more combo potential, the idea being you are now all offense, forgoing the parry, as now the bumpers are assigned to each of your fists while the triggers are your feet, you can combo the attacks up to five times and the combo changes depending on the order and the final hit of the combo changes as well, imagine just a flurry of kicks that ends in a huge wind-up punch, or straight up the Lone Shadow kicks combo.

One of my favorite things about Elden Ring is how wildly different everyone's experience is. Some of the bosses higher on this list were a piece of cake for me, while bosses that were towards the bottom of this list stumped me for days. I love it.
I appreciate how you actually acknowledge that you were a bit overpowered for some fights or got lucky, and actually see a battle's nightmarish potential even if you don't fully live through it yourself. Good video.

That’s just insane man. It took me less than 10 times 💀
I had a lot of deaths to them both doing the poison and it just perma stunning me with the fact it staggers every tick, who ever thought a poison cloud should do poise damage is evil
I was dreading it as a melee build but did it second time, somehow. I never got poisoned either. Maybe it's RNG? I dunno.
I honestly tried the fight once, saw that it was not only a duo but a repeat; died, respawned, and did it with the Albinauric archer lady
I’ll face Malenia 1v1 before I face a gank by the fucking gargoyles
I fought Malenia and struggled with her for roughly 1 week. She is by far the most difficult video game boss I have gone against across every genre of game i have ever played.
It’s so interesting how what level you are changes difficulty so much. Radahn was the hardest so far and I’ve just entered mountaintop. Meanwhile i dumpstered Morgott in two tries.
Morgot and Godfrey were first tries for me, easy as hell. But I got my ass whooped by the Draconic Tree Sentinel 15+ times. Lol
I think certain people process attack patterns differently.
Killed every hard boss but no one was as hard as radahn for me, took me 2 hours even with a cheese in the end
It's funny how ridiculously easy Morgott is when you use the game mechanics instead of doing no hit runs / no summon runs / any other challenges etc., I did him first try with that Melina summon on my first blind walkthrough because you face him so late in the game where you are, idealy, already level 100-120. At least I thought that the capital is the last thing I was supposed to do in the game
Same with Godfrey but for some reason I also had a lot of problems with Draconic Tree Sentinel and the Elden Beast at first
But I have no idea why one shouldn't use the summoning bell at unfair bosses like Godskin Duo. They aren't even designed to be a double fight, it's unfair and the game wants you to use glitchy cheesy tactics that way (like using the pillars in the arena).
I agree, Mohg is a pain in the ass. I think I died just as many times facing him as Malenia.
He was balls hard! I'd say he was the second hardest in the game for me. The number one being obvious...
Can we also appreciate how this man fought all these bosses with no summons or ashes so he can have accurate reviews on the bosses
I think it was partially a mistake. Most bosses are really aggressive and relentless, giving very small windows to heal or attack because the developers counted players using very powerful summons. Like Margit... If you summon the jellyfish, you can almost completely stunlock him with a decent weapon. (just spam charged heavy attack)
So playing with no summons is kind of already a challenge mode.

@@Ms666slayer doing my 2nd character and I'm using summons this time. But I will not use that one cause I heard it's OP
Do it on your own in another run. You can do it! I was there!
I sadly have to say that there weren't too many bosses in this game who's difficulty I found enjoyable.
Nah the real hero is a naked man with a pot on his head
Elden ring felt like the first game where some bosses couldn’t be no hit. But then I see no hit runs on those bosses. It’s incredible…

Funny how the Mimic ash can neutralize most of the difficulties for these bosses. But not Malenia… she is just too op with that heal.
With hoarfrost stomp, he can do it to some degree, phase 1 she is just stun-lock, but phase 2 she still hard as hell, hah

The interesting thing about Godskin Duo is that although killing one doesn't "do anything" because he respawns after a while, the respawn timer is long enough to allow you to kill or mostly kill the other one, as long as you play somewhat aggressive. Morgott was really easy (Got him on my second try) for me but Godfrey and the Duo were a massive problem
Yeah Godfrey is easily top 5 for me whereas I got Morgott on first try

It's an effective counter, but I can imagine many players who didn't 100% the game on their first playthrough missed that thing.

I've come to the conclusion that all the gank bosses are meant to have you use the spirit ashes. Only thing that makes sense to me.
i agree. a lot of this game seems geared around some variety of co-op. all the purists are like "don't use ashes git gud scro". well fuck me. don't use a sword then. or any weapon for that matter. and forget leveling you filthy casual. just use your base character and fists like god and miyazaki intended. it's such a silly argument. USE. THE. TOOLS. THE. GAME. GIVES. YOU. or don't, i don't give a shit.
After the patch they added Recusant Bernahl to the Godskin Duo fight and he _fucks_ them up.

It's fun that some off Malenia's mechanics look like they would work wonders in Bloodborne. Fast paced hits, huge combos, healing by causing damage
Morgott is one of my favorite bosses, learning all of his moves was a lot of fun and never felt unfair. When i finally mastered them it just clicked, different from other bosses. Fighting him with only a ultra sword and no summons was so much fun for me.

One thing I found with Malenia is that she’s particularly susceptible to guard counters, which I guess is why they made her attacks heal even on block. That said, used conservatively along with bleed and parries it’s possible to get several ripostes in

There also a tear you can add to your physick that cleanses the rings he puts on you
There’s also a bug, before entering the fog to fight Mog where if you use the shackle 3 times right in front of the fog and then enter, he’ll bug.

The malenia fight made me fall in love with the candle whip weapon, patches you may not know it but you made this fight possible.
There is a item that will root margrit to the ground, made it waaaaay easier! Exploring pays of every time
@@GentlemanJasper Yeah, I carved him apart in a few seconds with that. Fighting bosses without their specific items is like fighting Yhorm the Giant or Storm King without the Storm Ruler. Doable, but not intended.

I beat him on the third try but wouldn't have beaten Margit for a while without the shackle

How can you bring Melina to that fight? I did not see any summon signs at the Elden Throne :(
he was fairly easy with double greatsword jump attacks (slightly overleved perhaps), as it breaks his stance fairly quickly
While Malenia is without question the hardest, I still wonder what Radahn would have been like if he hadnt lost his mind by taking her bio-bomb to the face. From what I understand, all we ever saw was a fraction of Radahn's power.

I've beaten Godskin Duo at my first try, and I didn't even know I was going to the boss arena XD
I've also killed Rhedan in maybe second try.
I almost forgot - Malenia was so freaking quick that I had to change my build, becouse I always missed my spells
The hardest part about the elden beast is depth perceptiion. With the Arena and the looks of the beast its sometimes really hard to gauge how far away it actually hits which messes with timings a fair bit

I found that out too! I was beyond pissed lol
That fight is stupid such a lazy design
I was fuming fuming
I will not lie... I pulled out the laser sorcery with the infinite fp physick to absolutely laser the two of them down while mimic tear hoarfrost stomped his way into the aggro table. If you start the laser as they move into next phase you can consume the hp bar, and kill the revive.
I fought Malenia for 9 hours straight before finally beating her. Took her Scarlet Aeonia and used it for Radagon
I must have done 40 attempts to help coop her as practice. Only one suceeded and they player joyously ran laps around me and emoted (I basically soloed the last 6th of her health bar when they ran out of healing)

I guess you've been told already that Lord of Blood's curse can be uplifted with the special tear for your flask. And ye, Godskin Duo is bullshit xD

Mimic tear makes the fight a joke
In addition, both Margit and Mohg have shackles you can use on them to stun them for a period of time.
I also have an item that nullifies the black blade. I didn't use it at the time, but I'm guessing it nullifies the burn\health drain effect.

Malenia is definitely the objective top 1 no matter when you fight her or what your build is
@@TheCaptnJakk I feel like Malenia will drop at least a few places once people figure out how to avoid her big combo, there are already guides on how to do it and once you know the trick that combo (which seems to be one of the main points people keep on bringing up about her difficulty, the other point being her life steal) becomes pretty trivial
probably the main difference in community rankings will be summons though, I feel like a lot of these bosses were clearly made with ash summons in mind (Radahn was clearly made with summoning in general in mind) which made a few of the placements on DeModcracy's list feel a bit odd to me. the Godskin Duo for example, throw in a tanky ash summon and it basically becomes a 1v1 against whichever one you decide is easier, all the while your summon is basically doing free damage to the other one and therefore progressing the big healthbar. Mimic Tear can utterly trivialise some things if you go in with the right build.
personally my top 3 would be
3. Malekith
2. Rennala (squishy long ranged sorcery build vs a boss that can hit me from further away than I could hit her, could one-shot me with several of her attacks, and was extremely resistant to my main form of damage. ended up having to melee her to death with a completely unupgraded sword sword and the same strength and dex stats that I'd started the game with)
Same here. Rennala gives me a lot more pain 😡
Take notes. Take notes!!!!
Good to know, I've been focusing on trying to 100% all areas as I go, so I haven't gotten there quite yet.
