  • Today, we’re looking at the very strange life of Star Trek’s most well-traveled time traveler, Agent Daniels, sometimes also known as Kovich.
    He first appeared on Star Trek: Enterprise in 2001 as Crewman Daniels and then most recently was part of Star Trek: Discovery as Doctor Kovich. His true identity was revealed in the final episode of Star Trek: Discovery in 2024.

    Wait a minute, Daniels/Kovich travels in time, has died a few times and come back to life, he also famously showed the crew of the Enterprise NX-01 a future spacecraft which was bigger on the inside than the outside(in "Future Tense" from his database)- it's obvious now - he's a Timelord! 😉

    Kovich/Daniels is played by David cronenberg, the director known for his body horror movies. In the final scene of star trek discovery, where the items behind him are panned over, there is a kind of bone gun that can be seen which is from one of his body horror movies (thank you amazon prime x-ray trivia)

      No. Watch the Voyager episode "Relativity" and you will understand how exactly this works. Its no kind of reincarnation thing or avoiding death somehow. Tomorrow, you go on a mission to save the past and you fail, so your superior goes to you TODAY and send you back in time to solve the mission. Now you have two of you at the same spot.

      I would make Gerry 7 or any version of the "Gerrys/Supervisors/Aegis" the true antagonists of the Federation or humanity. Who's to say The Q weren't the ones trying to prepare humanity for "Aegis" instead of the Borg.
      Alternatively, they could bring back the character of Lazarus. His one and only appearance was bonkers (it didn't come close to making any sense), not to mention his character repeatedly lied his ass off.
      If you return to the original series, many of the 'chronal misfits' within the franchise seem to scream a return. I believe they are some of the most interesting characters in all of the franchise. Gary 7 was my favorite; next, it's Daniels and Guinan.
      With Section 31 and Daniel's existence in Discover Universe, there are too many possibilities to count. I have also always wondered: Did Section 31's actions cause the Mirror universe? In that Universe was Section 31, Section 13?

    The real question is where does Craft fit into all of what happens in the future of Star Trek that they had a Red Directive, which is interesting that they call these secretive missions that directive because of the Red Matter that Spock was able to use in the 2009 Star Trek movie to pretty much accidentally went back in time trying to save Romulus as well how Michael Burnham could time travel and was called The Red Angel due to the light that the suit emits while traveling

      No, absolutely not. The temporal cold war was what made ENT horrible, and it cemented the whole series as not even taking place in the TOS/TNG/DS9 timeline. Time travel in Trek for the most part sucks, and with the exception of IV their storylines are just bad.

      Considering both the Enterprise D and Voyager survive multiple times against a Borg ship, it seems overkill that one Borg ship can take out over 30 starfleet ships at Wolf 359. Some of them, should have smart engineers and science officers to learn how to fluctuate shield frequencies and their combined torpedoes and phasers should have damaged the Borg ship. Seems odd.

    There's one more general possibility. Kovich - or Daniels - has joined the group that Wesley Crusher mentioned in Picard Season 2 and more than that - heads it up as it's boss! With the brief to guide but to deal only with matters of serious threats to the timeline.

  • @MGmirkin
    @MGmirkin 4 місяці тому +2

    Okay, but, like, if Time Travel is outlawed entirely, what about Wesley's group, who is apparently tasked with "preserving the timeline" or whatever. IS he related to Daniels/Kovich, or are they a rogue temporal agency like a Section 31 for time travel stuff? And who decides what is the "proper" timeline, or whatever? And what about alternate realities like the mirror universe, which presumably just a particular different timeline? Which presumably "exists" in some form, given the barrier or whatever can apparently be easily traversed from our "reality"/"timeline" to theirs? Does the mirror universe also have a Time Corps of some kind maintaining **their** "timeline"? And how would that work, if the Prime Universe is also maintaining their own timeline? Seems to me like it would either have to be one timeline or the other, right? I mean, they can't literally both co-exist, right?

The Time Agency may be partly connected to all forms of time-connected aliens. Cats feature in that too, with Gary Seven and even the City At Edge Of Forever having interconnected timelines.
    Gary Seven and Daniels and not forgetting a few odd characters from Star Trek original series like Mr Flit and even Cpt Christopher. And that whole Area 51 story and lastly Q who is a little outside the box with timelines and the original Time Agency/Travellers. Q would never involve themselves with primitive races or alternative timelines, but who knows where the Travellers and Q are in this story. In one sense, I agree, in that Tripp could have been replaced in or excised altogether from the Prime timeline with a cloned body double at the point of his placement in the imaging chamber in "These Are The Voyages..." by Section 31 or the Travelers to work as an agent or a Supervisor, and I'd really love to see Trinneer back on the screen, but I think that the Daniels reveal leads to even more possibilities for both characters in upcoming projects. The first moment that I saw Kovich, I said, "Watch this be Daniels or Tripp...." It's one of the few guesses in which I've come close. I'd love to see Trinneer, along with Winston, Cronenberg, Wheaton, Briones and Menyuk, in the upcoming Section 31 movie or some other project, with a series spin-off where we get to see more of Section 31, the Travelers and the Temporal Integrity Commission, possibly reconciling and uniting in a cohesive storyline the various canon timelines and universes, including explaining the origin and mechanics of the Mirror Universe being tied to the primary, acknowledging and celebrating the various incarnations of Star Trek (via the multiple worlds and/or infinite branching timelines theory) while remaining respectful to Roddenberry's original vision. Since I'm shooting off fantasy storylines from the hip, maybe Wilson could be brought in to reprise Mudd, his "rehabilitation therapy" in the hybrid Prime-Kelvin timeline having gone awry, with his escape and shenanigans running him afoul of all three groups across multiple universes in various centuries and timelines.

      No one called Beverly Crusher or Deanna Troi, "Commander," nor Julian Bashir as "Lieutenant." They were referred to by their "working titles." Dr. McCoy is an interesting case, he was referred to as the "Admiral" in "Encounter at Farpount." But the script was very deliberately not calling him "McCoy." Dr. Kovich's rank permits an authority within Starfleet especially as he uses Starfleet assets. Much like the US Navy's Admiral Rickover, who not only had his Naval Rank and Position as "Director, Nuclear Propulsion." He also had a civilian position with the Atomic Energy Commission. He wielded his authority in and out of uniform very powerfully.

      @@DavidKnowles0That's possible, but another possibility is that an organization outside of the waring factions was formed with representatives from each faction to monitor compliance with the treaties, with the technologies and functions of the Temporal Integrity Commission and the Department of Temporal Investigation being absorbed by the new body, sort of like a meta Federation of Time Faring Species. Of course, this doesn't preclude a Section 31 type of rogue time agency, either.

  • @deathstrike
    @deathstrike 4 дні тому

    I believe what we are actually seeing is one of two possibilities. That the 32nd Century Daniels/Kovitch is actually from another dimension. The "Schreondinger's cat" proven true. Basically one dead in one dimension, alive in the other. And therefore retrieved from another dimension. He also reveals to former Emperor of the Terran Empire Philippa Georgiou, that he has always had a fascination with the Terran Empire all his life. Could this Daniels/Kovitch actually be from the former Terran Empire itself? He seemed to know the Emperor VERY well, and even has the same birthday as the Terran Holy Day of April 5th (Arrival of the Vulcans in 2063) so your thoughts? Could he be from the Terran Empire? Found a way like Captain Gabriel Lorca did?
    One other possibility is Daniels could be a clone. Cloning is illegal, but perhaps Section 31 has access to technology like that? And that is another thing. I believe Daniels DOES represent Section 31 as it's highest and most distinguished "Officer." Of course this can never be revealed due to its extreme secrecy. He might even hold a very high Admiral Rank, probably higher than even Admiral Vance has.

    I would have to speculate, but Daniels may not entirely know who he is, or what he as done because he may have had to submit to some form of "mind wipe" for at least some of his memories. Or has undone time in such a way, that his involvement never occured. I would think the word "Director" would be suitable for one as probably highly decorated as Daniels. And as for whom he serves, probably a Federation Branch similar to our CIA or ATF or DHS. So his not being part of Starfleet, but serving Federation interest is true.
    Also, he might be part of an organization within Section 31. Perhaps "Section 31, Bureau of Temporal Enforcement".

      @@Yibambe. ok simple mind, i got a minute before bed.
      First and foremost, separate timelines are literally canon in Trek and have been since TOS.
      ENT takes place in a timeline that is an offshoot of the First Contact timeline, itself a deviation of the TOS/TNG/DS9 timeline (VOY takes place during the FC timeline since 7 mentions the borg making it to earth at that time). The ENT timeline splits when the temporal agents arrive and change the past beyond what FC already did, as Daniels explained with both the Suliban and the Xindi. ffs he literally shows a powerpoint presentation of the timelines splitting due to that idiotic cold war premise.
      Your simple minded "it's all prime" is predicated on a throw away retcon line in SNW, as simple to discard and reject as the entire Kelvin timeline.
      the temporal cold war and 99% of all time travel episodes are absolute trash, the only exceptions being IV and the LD/SNW xover.
      daniels was a worthless character and Picardo would've made a much better reveal, especially since we know his mind can last a long long time. I didn't even like VOY, but the Doctor having made it that long to continue to guide Starfleet would've made people cry fucking buckets.

      I agree, canon places ENT squarely in the Prime timeline, but it looks to me as if SNW is laying a foundation to place the ENT timeline as a hybrid branch of the Prime timeline that is somewhere between it and the Kelvin timeline. With the way that the timelines and associated technology advancements have been so convoluted, I don't know how future writers can resolve the technology differences and discrepancies without resorting to the multiple worlds and/or branching timelines theories. And no, I'm not one of those fans who insist that all the issues have to be resolved, but I'd be all the more pleased if they could do so without utterly disregarding canon.
