@@RJM12345 Nah. This is much different. I see what you're saying, but if anyone thinks that this timeline in human existence is somehow better, I strongly disagree. We have fewer values and less connection with one another by design. Social media and apps have overtaken us and made us stagnant and apathetic. In the process, this has dumbed down our youth and made them lazy. Every decade that follows, we hand over a little bit more of our will and put it in the hands of technocrats, thrusting us into a dystopian oligarchy. A progression of time doesn't necessarily equate to "better". Look at Iran pre-1960s. Women were liberated and it was a thriving social climate. At least in the context of today.
I was in my late teens early wos then and i would go back if all the dmoking wasnt there. No cell phones, internet, social media etc was more peaceful & we were fine without it. Some things were more inconvenient & we did not have all of the entertainment options that we have now. But I think it was better.
Man, takes me back to my childhood. Such an innocent wonderful time. My parents would record movies off TV so every time we rewatched them we saw the commercials too, when we weren’t fast forwarding through them.
Such cool '80s commercials! It really shows what life was like in the '80s. Would love to see more of these commercials and ones in the 2000s if possible
Are you kidding me? Kenny and Dolly towards the end, and Rick James? Wow. You have archived some gold Dave. Good job man. Imagine people in the future seeing this stuff. 500 years from now? Just because you cared enough to do it
And, when they were first invented, for the US Military in WWII, the shells were all brown. The colours were added after the war, to appeal to civilians.
I do sometimes often miss the VCR in my house growing up mostly own RCA and Sony best two in my opinion My Mom and Dad had a Curtis mathes when they got married in 1982 RIP to my parents miss those years
Amazing commercial block Dave. These 80s commercials are in a league of their own. All of the memories come flooding back. One of my favorite parts of this tape was Lily Tomlin as Bernadette at 21:58 singing and tapping her feet to the song "Maniac". LOL. 😆
This is totally excellent! There are so many memories here. So many great performers who are no longer with us too. Thank you for sharing this. God Bless You & stay safe.
I was born in the mid-80's. But, I surely wish that I can relive that decade and the 90's as an adult. There is that quote "You never know what you have until it is gone forever".
Dave!!! Thank you so much for allowing me to be able to time travel back to better times whenever I want. It gives me this weird peace and clarity I can’t explain 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Well this one came out much earlier than normal. Pretty sure you tell just from looking at some of them which ads are actually from the 80s and which were made in the 70s but were still on the air. 12:14 - 12:42 Dude's talking about mildew like it's waiting for a chance to eat your face. 14:45 - 15:14 It's hilarious that if I see two or three seconds of an ad and guess it's for a fragrance, I'm almost always right. 18:25 - 18:27 I'm sorry, it's only funny to me because I'm male, but that was hilarious. Not at all where I was expecting that ad to go, but at least it got straight to the point. Oh shit, Rick James! How much you want to bet he did a couple lines before going on stage that night?
They really don't make commercials like this anymore. These were micro movies that told you about new products and actually made you want things, there was acting, jingles, mascots, they were cheesy but fun. Now all I see is commercials for class action lawsuits, rx drugs, class action lawsuits over rx drugs and if I'm lucky the occasional pizza ad that shows way more cheese than you actually get on your pizza. 😞 thank you for this nostalgic compilation!
Whats crazy is that im only 23, yet i still feel this strong sense of nostalgia. Like as if I grew up watching these as a child but i never did. Its comforting for sure, but weird it feels so... familiar to me.
The series premier of both Dungeons & Dragons and Manimal? Magnum P.I.? DOH? Follow that up with Kenny & Dolly and you got one of the best years in pop culture history!
Funny thing is the last bit had a copyright block so I had to edit it out and reload the whole thing. Oddly, it was a live performance from the group Berlin. After reuploading, I got a copyright in the dolly song but it's allowed to be used without monetization... which my channel is all about lol
I wish we could teleport back to this period of the 80s. It seemed so much simpler and less chaotic and crazy.
I totally agree! 🎯👍

The commercials were better in the 80's, but life was not. The Soviets overhanging threat of nuclear war, AIDS, unemployment, and no social media
I agree. I miss the 80s so much.
There's a sort of weird warm fuzzy feeling you get watching these commercials it's like called nostalgia 😂
Man, takes me back to my childhood. Such an innocent wonderful time. My parents would record movies off TV so every time we rewatched them we saw the commercials too, when we weren’t fast forwarding through them.
I agree. The 80s feel more innocent.
So glad I was part of the 80's❤️
My first computer before my Commodore 64, which I still have, was a TI 99 4/A. That was a FUN computer for its time!
I remember some of these from when my parents used the tv as the babysitter.
Mine used the TV to avoid parenting. ;)

OMG, that variety show at the end, quintessential early 80's!
M&M's have been lying to us all of these years: they DO melt in your hand!
Great commercials, Dave!
And, when they were first invented, for the US Military in WWII, the shells were all brown. The colours were added after the war, to appeal to civilians.
Watching these is truly like using a time machine. Thanks for these ❤
I love losing myself in these commercials! Also, I've been losing myself in "Tommy and the Order of Cosmic Champions," too! What an awesome book!

Lol, Rick James!! So funky!! Where can I find pants like his??
This channel is outstanding. Keep up the great work!
Damn i love when you post these videos! It's a time machine!
Rick James sure gave an energetic performance!
Yep.
Charlie was right. Rick James does have an orange aura...nevermind, that's just his outfit.😂
I believe that's Timothy Busfield at 14:35 in the Best Foods Mayo commercial.
Love it! Thank you
Some of these are suggestive lol that Charmin and Louis rich commercials jeez
Dang!! Got the gem 💎 at the end with Rick James Live!!

Good mix of products, some of the things are hot right now like campbells soup and Levi's

The announcer at 21:28 sounds like Brad Crandall.
It's funny to hear the women discuss douches in their actual context, and not referring to asshole guys. 😂
Exactly! And I don't know about you, but I always have my douche next to me when I'm re-planting flowers! 🤣🤣😂
Fantastic
