I just bought one of these Gran Premio's locally, I'm looking forward to giving it a good clean and polish. It must be a few years younger than this as it doesn't have the nice metal badge, just a decal.
Just watched this and was was wondering a few things. I have a Legnano Roma frame from 1953 and am planning an almost identical build with it. I have built many bikes and am pleased to see another builders techniques. I do have a few questions as I search for parts for my frame. The rear brake has an unusually long reach like yours, and I was wondering what model you used. Also I liked the stem and wondered what model it was as well as suggestions on where to find some of the vintage stuff like the clamp on bottle cage and also the vintage kit. Thanks, John from Florida.
Also the Roma Olimpiade was built with falck tubes until 1966/67, then these were replaced with Reynolds 531. Columbus tubes were only available by special request.
Shouldn't the cable guide on the down tube be a little nearer to the bottom bracket shell? The cable looks to be too far above the chain stay when it leaves the cable guide.
What a fabulous looking bike. Well done.
Rides great to - check out our L`Eroica videos, Dan
Love the color and the patina is great.
Yep, the original Lizard green is a great colour - doesn`t quite look the same when re-painted, probably due to healthier modern paints, Dan
Loved the cat!

yep, sounds like a seventies model, enjoy it, Dan.
I always wanted the 88 (Bianchi) Legnano ridden by Maurizio Fondriest.
Now thats a bike I`d like to ride... Dan
I owned a couple of Legnano Roma Olimpiade and Gran Premio frames. I'm finding time to get them assembled

Kind of wish I could bring my bike up to Vouvant next month to have the big guy service it 😂
Where can I buy an old fashion helmet like yours 🤔
Ebay - search for Cinelli hairnet or vinatge helmet (repro`s best avoided, go for the real deal), Dan
wouldn't the g in legnano be pronounced the same as in campagnolo?
No
I think it is, at least Google Translate pronounced it that way. Means Wood.

Good to know, Dan

Maybe - works well though...
Where did you find that clamp on water cage. I need a couple of those.
Came with the vintage cage I`m afraid, Dan.

GB alloy 38cm if I remember, Dan.
@@vintagevelos9517 thanks
Shouldn't it have a good ol' leather saddle?
I mean it's from the early 60's.
I fitted the Flite for comfort but I may change it for a Brooks leather saddle soon, Dan
I actually fitted a Brooks Swallow B-17 saddle on my vintage Legnano Roma Olimpiade
