.... im a small size... and i do consider myself a hourglass... or am i blind lol or am i just not curvy enough cuz my shoulder and hips r similar while my waist is smaller 🤷🏻♀️ idk ill prolly grow into something else when im done with puberty lol
i'm normally not a fan of videos or articles about "fashion rules" but yours always have such a positive and encouraging tone to them instead of feeling restricting, i really enjoy them!
I love this body type series! It would be great to have a video where you apply these principles to a real person/people and actually see how the clothes transforms and accentuates different figures.
Love the video! Can we get a video (or maybe a blog post) with a more sporty/ street style for hourglass? It seems that every video for this body type includes clothes that are very "office" and that's deffinetly not everyone's cup of tea
The thing with sporty style is that it's hard to find proper types of clothes. For example, hoodies are usually loose, not with fitted cut; also if T-shirts are fitted, they look out-of-date. This is the brainteaser: how to look slim and nice in such clothes?
Екатерина Кухаричева I think at this moment in time there’s a lot of relevant cuts that hourglass can choose from! Fitted tops seem to be back in fashion, same as straight pants. Fitted dresses with zippers and proper cuts even in more casual styles.
@@katerynakukharicheva2456 This is a really late response, but my strategy with sport/casual tops is to be picky with length - a hoodie or t-shirt that sits around hip height is usually really flattering!
I agree with many of the other comments. Hourglass, but not plus. And, I virtually never wear clothing like this. Jeans, t-shirts, leggings with tunics...that is my style. I have discovered how to cut up t-shirts and make them better with slashed sleeves, v-neckline, as well as cut up the side and tied to get rid of the straight hemline across the wide part of my hips. Lots of times it requires altering clothing to make it work! I often buy xxl tops at a thrift shop with beautiful fabric, then cut them up and make something that works better for me. I'm generally only out 50 cents if it doesn't work..LOL!! Thank you for your guidance.
the only "fashion rules" video for curvy girls I've ever identified with. The styles are actually wearable and work and look fantastic, especially in real life even more than in the pictures. thank you!
2:15 was very helpful, i always gravitate towards long tops but i tucked my shirt in the other day and baaam my legs didn't look like stubs anymore. Thank u
Thanks for this video! I'm a hourglass and even though I prefer to not give too much attention to fashion rules and to wear what I like because I don't like restricting myself too much, having some rules corresponding to what I Iike helps me feeling better and getting more self confident. So I'm not going to apply all the rules in this video, but some of them can be very useful. Thank you for creating videos that provides positive messages like this one, it really changes from the usual fashion talking wich is like "you must look like this, you must wear this, etc..."
I really enjoyed it when you used colour in wardrobes inspired by various artists and I would love to see more of your wardrobe as you have a very unique style that I find interesting and inspiring, thank you x
I just stumbled across your video because I wanted fashion inspiration for my very curvy figure. I’m nearly 70 years old and before retiring from my last job as a medical clerical specialist I was allowed to wear street clothes instead of a uniform. With weekly purchases from my favorite consignment shop I was able to put together outfits that garnered a lot of compliments. I’m a very curvy petite woman, 46-36-52. Nearly all of my clothes have to be altered. You’ve given me very good advice for how to dress without looking frumpy or age inappropriate. Thank you.

Hello, Daria. I am in love with your curvy hour glass wardrobe! I never thought there are so many sustainable options for curvy figures. Thank you! Great video
Congrats !! I love when there is a hard job done to make a video and a real concern for people, you are so generous and very very professional. Love your videos and all the research you make for us, always with a smile and nice attitude. Thanks a lot !!!!
Thank you. I love this. I am so happy to have found it. I plan on creating as close to this wardrobe as possible. Fantastic presentation. Clear, concise, and creative.
Really inspiring, as always, Daria! I think I can use a lot of your ideas. I am not exactly plus size but not slim either, rather something in between (a German size 42/44) and I think we in-betweens aren't often addressed specifically. My problem is that hitting 50, most of my weight is around the tummy - if you look at me from the front, I'm an hourglass, but from the side - there's the belly. So tucking in shirts is not a good idea and I struggle with accentuating a waistline that is only partially defined. Culottes and palazzo pants look horrible on me. But I think your ideas on fabrics and soft lines are fabulous!
Thank you Daria, for such useful tips! What I like most are combinations of dark with dark colours (top and bottom) with outstanding accesories (scarfs, necklaces, big earrings). It gives huge versatility, is very practical for traveling (usually a necklace or scarf take less space than another clothing item) and it very easy to pull togehter when your mind is busy somewhere else than clothes! xoxo!
Honestly wasn’t expecting this video to be so informative! It’s funny cause if I look at my favorite pieces in my closet they match what your recommendations almost perfectly. Thanks so much!
Maybe but most importantly by watching your videos I began to understand how to work with shapes, fabrics and colour harmoniously around a body figure. It's encouraged me to try clothes that I would have never considered wearing before. And it's allowed me to visualize my wardrobe and perceive it as a whole, almost like a painting with a colour palette and geometrical shapes to mix and match. You are a fantastic stylist.
I'm Pakistani, so we usually wear different outfits back home. When I moved to Germany for my studies, I wanted to wear more Western clothes as Pakistani ethnic dresses don't work for every day here. I was having so much trouble styling myself, as a curvy girl, as the styles here seemed to only look good on thin people, and the advice of other fashion UA-camrs didn't seem to work on me. However, after seeing this video, I see that I was just unable to style myself according to the cuts here. You are an amazing stylist and an amazing person - I love your positive vibes!
thank you for your presentation Daria. how glorious to be a full busted curvy hourglass. i was really in demand back in the day! fortunately i always had a good eye in my 20s and looked at curvy role models like Hollywood starlets and vamps for ideas. if only i had the wardrobe and salary to match. lol
Dear Daria: I watch your videos all the time, and this video is one of my favorites. Not all curvy girls are plus sizes and I would like you to research more about girls curves, for example, latinas (me). Why ? Because unfortunately the Latin curves have to dress provocatively to “show off the curves”; and that is sad, falling into vulgarity. Honestly I was a victim of this but I realized in time and I always try to update myself. but it would be good to do this challenge for the other side of the curves girls.
I have the same body type and I'm also latina. I had the same problem, even if you're not trying to dress to look vulgar sometimes with your curves and small size some clothes would make it so ( like fitted shirts that are a little too tight on the bust, or a modest cleavage that becomes immodest because of your cup size) I have always been shy so I avoided this type of clothing but I ended up looking frumpy and a little overweight. Thankfully now I follow most of what Daria recommends but it's still a struggle sometimes.
You body type corresponds to your bone structure not size. So if you have an hourglass figure you can be any size from small to big, and change of size doesn’t change your bone structure. But also true that women with any body type can be plus size (obviously). Thanks though.
Thank you, esp the trousers part was usefull. However, I'm quite tall with already long legs, sometimes when I wear stuff that "elongates" my legs I find that my torso becomes very unproportionaly short...
This video was amazing! I’ve been looking for something like this for a long time, thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to make this ❤️ this will be a huge help!
Thank you so much! Finally some concrete advise:) I'm hourglass but not plussize, but I've never been able to find a clothes that wouldnt make me look like 20 pounds heavier, or, on the other hand, weren't super tight around my boobs and waist, so it looked too provocative. Thank you for that!:)
I would Love it if you could do a video like this on a round body shape. I carry most weight on my stomach and have big boobs but no butt. So hard to dress :(
I like all your videos, the ones based on paintings are great!!! Maybe a series about best colours for burnettes, blondes, etc. Since I started dressing with colours that complement my complexion my wardrove is better!! Another idea what to bring in a small business trip? Maybe 1 or 2 nights out with a fancy dinner? When you travel with your male colleagues it always looks like you carry bigger travel bags
That's nice and all, but what about a plus size hourglass figure with a belly in front? If I wear high waisted bottoms to accentuate my waist, I look pregnant because my belly becomes very visible! And when I wear long draping tops, I lose my waist.
This is so great! If only it had lighter colours (summer type) :( Would love to share this with someone, but she would look dead in such powerful colours..
Body shape is determined by bone structure and your body's natural weight distribution not how much you weigh. I would be an hourglass no matter what my size is. But can we talk about how impossible is it to find dress shirts that fit off the rack? I literally don't think they exist. My waist is 13 inches smaller than my hips and shoulders and I wear a 32DD - 28G bra. I'm about a medium in the chest area and a small or extra small in the waist. Dress shirts have too much baggage in the waist on me. Straight cut dress shirts are the worst and there is always a TON of excess material in the back. I had to buy a dress shirt for work and the smallest size that fit my chest was way too big in the waist and back.
Good tips. I might add, it's important to consider what "type" you are in choosing the correct colors. If you're not sure what that is, check out Carol Tuttle.(I have no association with her) or . . . . remember the 4 season colors to determine best colors for you? I prefer Tuttle's personality types.
I know exactly what it is, as it’s my job :) I’ve been working as an image consultant and personal shopper for over 10 years. The Wonder wardrobe method was created by me to allow people to build fully interchangeable, unique and sustainable wardrobe. It includes the most modern methods and tricks. The typology you mentioned is a mix of colour types and kibbie system, which is nothing new, but it’s ok if you find it helpful. I love that she works with natural beauty elements, I do that too in my work as well. But the styles she recommends look very outdated for me personally.
I'm hourglass but not plus size... Not all hourglass girls are large......
I love the recommendations for this type though thankyou
Thank you for that. I am the same; hourglass but not plus size. Agreed, the rules are good though.
TheDebbiespagnolo same I’m pretty skinny yet I do...
I agree, scrolled through the comments seeing if other people felt the same. I wear a size medium and have a hourglass shape but not plus-sized.
.... im a small size... and i do consider myself a hourglass... or am i blind lol or am i just not curvy enough cuz my shoulder and hips r similar while my waist is smaller 🤷🏻♀️ idk ill prolly grow into something else when im done with puberty lol
Ugh! Preach sister! 🙌🏻👏🏻
Ok so I’m a hour glass, and I am bad at styling I needed this so thank you.
i'm normally not a fan of videos or articles about "fashion rules" but yours always have such a positive and encouraging tone to them instead of feeling restricting, i really enjoy them!
Thank you!!! ❤️☺️

I’ll try! But the thing is that the cuts and shapes will be the same anyway no matter what style is used.

This single video has changed the way I look at clothes. I am on my way to creating my own wonder wardrobe.
I find your approach to colour and fashion refreshing and exciting.

Quite a helpful video.
Great content, congrats!!
