I used to watch your past classroom vlogs on repeat because I identified with your feelings so much. I started my career with the same definition of success in my mind that you had. Through the tips from you and Bridget I am becoming more balanced. I still have a long way to go, but it is a process. Thank you for sharing and commenting on your previous video. I love all your videos and appreciate the time and effort you put into making them. Thank you, Michelle!
You're the best Mandy! 🥰 I'm so happy you enjoyed my older vlogs and were able to identify with my feelings, both good and bad. I know you've come a long way as well, and being able to identify that is so important! Thank you as ALWAYS for all your support, kind words, and encouragement! 🖤 I hope you have a great week ahead!
I have been a long time subscriber of yours. I began college courses for teaching in 2011 and graduated in Spring 2022. I definitely hit some bumps through my journey but am happily teaching kindergarten. Over the past two years you have motivated me to set those healthy boundaries. Teaching is one of those careers where there is always something we could do for the classroom and for our students. I really like your stance on doing what is best for you as an individual and still being passionate about what you do. Thank you, Michelle!
Oh my gosh... thank you SO much Chelsey! That's so incredibly sweet of you and I appreciate you sticking around for all these years! I also love hearing that you're happily teaching kindergarten and that you've been able to set the necessary boundaries... you go lady! That's incredible! Thank you for all your kind words and support! 🥰🖤🎉
Full moon, change in the weather, upcoming vacation…all things that absolutely affect class behavior. I have watched you since the beginning and I love how you’ve evolved, grown, and matured. This was a GREAT video idea. Loved your insights and reflections about your younger self. However, I have watched and continue to watch because you helped me feel less alone. I felt supported and validated every week. 😊
YES! I'm with you about the different things that behavior Dorothy! Also, thank you so much for watching and sticking around after all these years! 🥰 I really appreciate your support and am so happy you enjoyed this video 🖤 You're so sweet!
I know that's right!! Michelle I have seen classroom vlogs when your students were acting up on those occasions. I was wondering if you can react to another classroom vlog like this?
Michelle, I also left teaching in 2021 and WOW!!! I am truly surprised at how different and happier you look now. In the older vlog, you seem happy but deep down you can tell how overworked and tired you were. I remember my teaching days and watching your vlogs was one of my favorite things to watch on youtube. We need to end this stigma with teachers where their self-worth and how "good" they are at their jobs, relies on unrealistically high expectations that can't even be achieved during normal working hours (for most). I am glad to see how happy you are now doing what you love while also loving yourself and not missing out on non-work things!!😄💝
Thank you for this video! As an elementary teacher myself, I can TOTALLY relate to how hard you worked. With teaching and having a classroom full of students that rely on you, it is very easy to end up spending A LOT of time preparing...and getting a lot of enjoyment out of it as well.😄
Thank you so much for watching and commenting Christina! 🥰🖤 I really appreciate it! I completely agree that it's easy to get caught up in spending too much time working, but it's definitely important to reflect over time because that enjoyment may not always be there.
I was a school nurse for many years before moving to France with my husband. Once in France, my mother told me “If you ever go back to the states and take that job back, I will beat you! It’s too stressful for you to have!” Obviously, she was kidding about beating me, but once I could step back and see what it was I actually did I could see what she saw. I like that you can see some positive points to your earlier work.
It's definitely important to take a step back every now and then to be able to evaluate what really matters to you and what makes you happy. Your mother is definitely right! Thank you for watching and commenting with your insight! 🥰
one of the best things I took from you was when you explained why you say "its ok" or "its going to be ok" even when things were chaotic. You explained that it helps your brain to relax to remind yourself that in fact, it will be ok. I always tell myself that. :). Thank you for that little slice of positivity!
I remember finding you through your vlogs and they were my absolute favorite thing to binge watch! Now I’m almost done with my Elementary Education degree and feel like I know so much from just watching you! 💖
Aww, thank you so much Bridgette! That's so sweet of you and I really appreciate you sharing that with me! Best of luck to you as you finish your degree and enter the field of education 🎉🥰🖤
I have been one of your subscribers for a long time; and, I believe I have seen all of your videos. I really enjoy this video! I think it's important for educators to look back to see how they have improved over the years. Thank you for always making such honest videos. I appreciate you being so real.
Aww, thank you so much as always Jill! I really appreciate you saying that and it means a lot to me 🥰 I agree that reflecting on our growth is SO important, not only in teaching but in our personal lives as well. Thank you for your constant support! 🖤
Full moons are so real no matter the profession you are in! In my medical job on full moons patients act out of their minds. The realities of teaching have changed over the past five to seven years given all the circumstances. I consider myself an OG subscriber. I’ve watched all your classroom vlogs and fitness vlogs. The fitness vlogs have helped me when I’ve been feeling down (much more lately given my work and life circumstances).
I don’t know if you’ll see this but I wanted to say that I’m so glad you seem to have more realistic expectations now, especially since you’re going back to teaching. I’m excited to see what your style will be now. I myself have a busy looking classroom but I’ve chosen calming colors. It’s a struggle to try to keep it simple but still have my areas for library, calm down, small group and instruction. After 10 years, it’s still a work in progress and student needs are different every year.
I found your vlogs back when I was in high school and watched them so often. I come back every year to rewatch my favorite ones at least once a year. This year has been quite a bit of rewatching because I’m going to be doing student teaching for art in the fall!
@@PocketfulofPrimary You're so welcome ❤️ Little back story, I found your channel when I was in the hospital back in December 2016. I was a junior in high school at the time, and I was looking for lessons for my honors algebra class. And your first classroom tour popped up in my recommended vids the day after lol. Even though I am not a teacher, I was just hooked from that day on!
Aww, thank you so much for watching and following along for so long Sarah! 🥰🖤 I really appreciate all your support and wish you the best of luck as you apply for jobs! 🤞🏼
Absolutely- full moon is a thing. I have been teaching at a behavior school for the last two years and my class has struggled around that time each month. They also have to go to the bathroom more.
Hi , I’m not a teacher but your videos really motivated me to be dedicated to the work that I did.. don’t please go back and criticize yourselves as I loved you in classrooms and your passion that you showed in your profession.. Keep rocking and keep inspiring us !!
I’ve never been a Dunkin coffee fan, but the ASMR of you doing the straw was my fav 😂 sometimes i go back and play the vlogs for calm background noise and if it’s missing the Dunkin and a mental breakdown, it’s not a true blog week lol
This was so much fun. You r who u r because of where you've been. I always enjoyed the outfit segment - I think u did an excellent job! Would love to see more oldies but goodies!
Full moon thing is SO real. As are super windy days and rainy days (so cal) when we rarely get them. This recent weather is not typical 😂 Before you even commented about the extra working, I was saying oh no you can have your students do that! But, I get it. You live and learn.
I’m 3 minutes into the video and laughing out loud. I tried to get into Dunkin because of you, but couldn’t do it!! It usually tastes watered down and too sweet to me. 😂 On another note, those vlogs got me through a tough teaching experience and you motivated me to power through and be the best I could be. Thank you for that! ❤
Oh my gosh... I'm with you on the Dunkin coffee now! My taste buds have definitely changed 😂 Thank you so much for watching and commenting Sophie... I'm so happy my vlogs were able to help you! 🥰🖤
I actually would really like if their was discussion on the podcast about homework after covid. I am a second year teacher 7th grade math teacher and I was looking into the flipped classroom model and I am actually thinking about implementing it next school year. As I like the idea of students being at home and watching videos of me modeling and teaching at their own comfortable pace along with guided notes no more than 10 minutes. I like this cause I imagine it leaving more room in the classroom for Inquiry and student discourse, which is what I love most about teaching. So I would really like to see (or well in this case hear lol) you and Bridgette's kinda in depth thoughts on what does homework look like now after covid or has the implementation of homework has changed. Side note: I told my co-worker 3 days ago "their must be a solar eclipse happening or something" later that evening a solar eclipse. So yes we know when their is a full moon no debate sadly : )
From what you described, it sounds like you should give a flipped classroom model a try! If you're curious how it would work, try it and see! What works for some teachers and students doesn't work for others, so there's no harm in trying to see if it's a good fit for you and your students. As for the homework discussion, I think it depends a lot on the grade level and purpose of the homework. But, we'll consider doing a full episode on the topic in the future... mostly from the teacher perspective though since our podcast focuses on the teacher. Thanks for watching and commenting!
See this is the thing about that I noticed in the state of Maryland, There is a Dunkin at almost every other Corner versus other places there is a Starbucks at almost every other corner ancelet teacher it's easier to stop at Dunkin that it is to stop at a Starbucks or any small shop for coffee so I think you kind of just got done can cuz it's the easiest here in Maryland
Yep full moon issues are a real thing, have had them all my life. And yes I intentionally prevent myself from knowing when the full moon hits… well I know every month because 2 to 3 nights before and after I can not sleep… a lack of sleep will make me crazy. If it has that effect on me well into my adult life and according to my parents it has been true literally since birth… I am willing to take any bet that you can find at least one kid like that in every class.
In regards to the full moon discussion We actually talked about this in physics class. When there’s a full moon, the moon is closest to the Earth and the moons gravity is pulling on earth more than ever. That affects the H2O in our bodies and throws off our hormones and moods
I have a question is this from when you taught 2nd grade or 4th grade. I’m a 5th grade teacher and I have my students do a lot of the paper management but if I was teaching a lower elementary grade I might feel like it was my responsibility to do it all. If you were teaching 2nd is that maybe where the feelings came from?
This is from my third year of teaching second grade. The older grades are definitely capable of more intricate tasks, but I think all students are able to help with some tasks and organizing papers is one of them. Honestly, I think my feelings came more from my struggle to let go of control 😂
Oh my goodness I love this! This video was so nostalgic for me. I know I have said this many times, but I discovered you in March of 2020. Your channel got me through the lockdown. I liked your videos so much that I decided to start from the beginning and every night before I went to bed I would watch one (or more depending on the length) in ORDER, because of my very type A personality. First of all, can I just say, wow to teaching with analog clocks! I remember teaching time in French with those and now I don't bother because kids today have NO CLUE how to read them! I have to say when you mentioned how lesson planning took more time then it should because you had an idea in your head of how you wanted something so you made it yourself.... I FELT THAT IN MY SOUL. I am the same way! Speaking of your materials. I have always wondered where you get your icons. Did you get those from Flaticon or a different platform? I also have to admit that I have a school laminator and a home one as well. You never know when you will need to laminate!!! Ok, now on to the most important part of this comment and please bring Billy over to read this because knowing when it is a full moon based on the kids behavior is ABSOLUTELY A REAL THING! Every time my kids are acting like the animals in the "do not feed" section of the zoo I say, is a full moon coming and I Google it right in front of them and I'm right, every. single. time. For example: I got that full moon feeling from them this week, and Googled it in front of them and lo and behold it was a full moon. So, yes Billy, teachers can tell you when it's a full moon based on their students' behavior! I just HAD to publicly defend you Michelle! Sorry ONCE AGAIN for the long comment. Thanks again for this video, I think I'm going to go and watch another one of your classroom vlogs now! Have a great week!
Aww, thank you so much as always Valérie! 🥰🖤 I always look forward to your comment and I'm so happy you enjoyed this video and all it's nostalgic glory! Also, so many kudos to you for going back and watching from the beginning 😂 That's some serious dedication! You're so right about the analog clocks LOL! Yes, most of my icons came from my subscription to Flaticon 🥰 Also, I'll definitely let Billy know that he's wrong when it comes to the full moons 😂 This comment section confirms it! Again, thank you so much for always watching and commenting... you're the best and I really appreciate you! 🖤
Well Michelle, First off, I would like to share something with you as well. At one time in my life, I was summoned to do a presentation for My Former High School Teacher's College Students who were seeking to become Special Education Teachers about what it is like with a student with special needs in a Special Education Classroom being that I was a student with special needs. Long story short the only part that I could tell is what works for me and I never knew what all works for the teacher and afterwards it took classroom teaching vlogs from you and the like to A. help me see what was happening from the teacher's stand point, what works for the teachers, and at the very least some of the why of what I experienced back when I was an autistic sped school student. Also, Long story short, Your Vlogs and the like have inspired me to not feel so scarred about coming out about My School Experiences from when I was a student. You have blazed a trail for me where I once thought there was not one so to you and a LONG list of others in the teacher community, May God full square bless you all times infinity and thank you for what you are doing. Second, back in the 80s and the 90s it was cartoons on television and today it is the teachers on UA-cam that draw my interest. In spirit of avoiding the pits and meditating on the peaches, here are the peaches. A. I once had a teacher whose looks blew me away and I let her know it. Michelle, You look beautiful and I have got to let you know it. B. Back when I was a newborn baby, the hospital doctors who saved me from a death sentence by high fever told My Parents to give me educational toys and to basically participate in my educational development or I would stop learning growing up and here you were trying to provide educational play activities within at least some if not all of your lessons. I hope that somewhere down the line that God will bless you with a school who will appreciate and embrace and support your method of education and inspiration influence and not delude you out. In all cases do what you know is right for you and please continue to be here for us. - Dwight
Hi Dwight! Thank you as always for watching and commenting your perspective! I appreciate you sharing your story and am happy to hear that my vlogs have helped inspire you to be more open about your past experiences. That's great! 🥰
I know you're about my age and have probably tried everything, but I also have had a hard time falling asleep since I was a kid. I'm better now but my trick as a kid was having something to listen to, A tape or CD - but it had to be one I had listened to a million times before so I knew the music or story and could zone out to it. Sometimes I still find my old tapes to listen to if I can't fall asleep 😂
Thanks for sharing! I've definitely tried listening to sounds, music, books on tape, etc. Some nights it helps but ultimately when I have trouble sleeping, there isn't a whole lot I can do to fix it. It just is what it is! Thanks for the ideas though!
I didnt believe the full moon thing was real either until I experienced it for the first time. I has a rough day one day and decided to look at the full moon schedule just to see out of curiosity and sure enough it was a full moon. It made total sense. Still not sure how all that works or what it is in the full moon that affects them but it's so real 😂😮
I just listened to your podcast today and you talked about doing a PD about green screens! I just purchased one for my first grade classroom! Please, please, please do a future UA-cam video about using green screens! As always, I’d love to get your ideas! 😃
I address that question in this video: ua-cam.com/video/b3gzRi1FUo8/v-deo.html It's not that I'm taking a break from teaching, it's that I'm now focusing on presenting professional development for teachers. Basically, I'm teaching teachers instead of students.
Thanks for sharing your opinion on my life decisions, but I don't do any of this for "views" and I'm not focused on jumping from one social media platform to another. Ultimately, I enjoy helping teachers and that's what I do through the creation of my videos and resources. I never quit my teaching job for UA-cam. The primary catalyst for leaving the classroom was moving to a new state, but I decided not to go back to the classroom because I'm currently focusing on presenting professional development for teachers and it isn't feasible for me to teach full time and present PD, create videos to help other teachers, create new resources, etc. The classroom will always be there if I want to return, but I currently love getting to support teachers in new ways. Hopefully you love your job as much as I do! 🖤
I completely agree that those are things teachers need, but those aren't things that I have much power to change. I'd love to hear your ideas on how I could use my platform to change those factors besides bringing awareness to them, which I would argue isn't necessary because we are all aware that those are elements of education that need to change. I have never said that UA-cam is my career, but regardless, "people burn bright and fast on the platform" doesn't quite apply to me considering I've been consistently creating content here for 7 years now. UA-cam is one element of my business, not its entirety. I think I'm allowed to defend my life choices when a stranger who has never met me in person feels that it is necessary to tell me what I should do with my career.
Thanks for sharing your perspective! Ultimately, we all learn, grow, and change and that's part of the process. It's important to remember we're all on different paths and different points of those paths so we shouldn't judge others too harshly.
@@PocketfulofPrimary Oh no, found it endearing. I started watching/discovered you after you started working your contract hours. With time we all adjust. You mentioned why you made changes, so I started watching your older videos. It’s like a football game-you can’t hear me, but I’m trying to help through the screen lol.
I could not agree more. Forcing teachers to pay money to charity to wear comfortable clothing is just exploitative, manipulative, and a stupid power play. If I want to donate money to charity let me decide how and when I want to do that. I work in a school with a strong union and coincidentally no dress code. You can wear jeans or leggings any day of the week. We work with primary students and are on the floor a lot so I'm grateful my school leadership trusts everyone to determine how they want to dress to do their job.

If it has that effect on me well into my adult life and according to my parents it has been true literally since birth… I am willing to take any bet that you can find at least one kid like that in every class.
I completely agree with you and because I’m a pre school teacher
100% full moon truths in a chemistry classroom!
Yesss! I completely agree! Thanks for watching and commenting Ann! 🥰🖤
Full moon and the day before the first snowfall of the season.
Full moon thing is soooooooooo real!!
I definitely agree! Thanks for commenting Alyssa! 🥰🖤
The full moon is definitely a thing!!
Me at school in the morning getting organised for the day watching your videos!
100% have to have something playing 😂
You should watch one of your videos from later in that year when you were having all the behavior problems and react to all the problems
Full moon definitely makes a difference with behavior and kids! Lol
Loved this video!!!!❤ And I'm totally on Team Full Moon makes a difference in student behavior!!🌚
Thank you so much Michelle! 🥰🖤 I appreciate you watching and commenting and yes! It definitely does! 😅
oh yes the full moon makes a big difference with my kiddos
I definitely agree! Thanks for commenting Gina! 🥰🖤
The full moon thing is 100% real. Every teacher knows!!
I definitely agree! Thanks for commenting Tonya! 🥰🖤
Hey Michelle I think when I found you one of the first videos I watched on repeat was this video
Wow, thank you so much Erik! I'm honored you would rewatch it 🥰 Thanks for your support as always!
Can you please do a tutorial on how to make a clip chart
Not a teacher but worked customer service. We could tell as call center reps when it was a full moon by the folks calling.
The full moon theory is real......so are time changes, snow storms, rain storms, etc.
YES! Absolutely agree! Thanks for watching and commenting Melissa! 🥰
My husband doesn’t believe the full moon thing either- but my sister is a nurse and I am a teacher and it’s 100% true.
OMG! This is HISTARICLE! (don't know if I spelled that right😁) You should do more of these!
Thank you for watching and commenting Will! 🥰 I'm happy you enjoyed it!
Well Michelle,
First off, I would like to share something with you as well.
Oh, the full moon is a thang!!
I definitely agree! Thanks for commenting Katie! 🥰🖤
Can someone post the link to her first video if it’s still available pls??
Full moon: definitely effects kid’s behavior!
I definitely agree! Thanks for commenting! 🥰🖤
The moon is a real thing children who are sweet lil munchkins become the flying monkeys, wont ever convince me otherwise
Hahaha, I definitely agree! Thanks for commenting Beth! 🥰🖤
EVERYONE WHO WORKS OR LIVES WITH CHILDREN KNOWS about the full moon! lol
RIGHT! That's what I've always said! 😂
I just listened to your podcast today and you talked about doing a PD about green screens! I just purchased one for my first grade classroom! Please, please, please do a future UA-cam video about using green screens! As always, I’d love to get your ideas! 😃
Ahhh, thank you for listening Heidi and yes! I've got it on my list to create for the future! Thanks for watching and commenting as always! 🥰🖤
Just out of curiosity I know you were taking a break off teaching after moving, have you figured out if you're going back next year o anything?
I address that question in this video: ua-cam.com/video/b3gzRi1FUo8/v-deo.html
It's not that I'm taking a break from teaching, it's that I'm now focusing on presenting professional development for teachers.
You’re saying everything that frustrated me about your earlier vlogs😂 I started watching you after you started following your contract hours.
You are the reason I started drinking Dunkin!!
When you create resources, what do you use to create them?
Hi Myranda! I've shown how I create a product from start to finish in this video: ua-cam.com/video/xv9MlS9qRgk/v-deo.html
The full moon is real Billy! We are basically teaching werewolves with how much their behavior changes.
Full moons definitely affect behavior!
I definitely agree! Thanks for commenting!
Not gonna lie, I miss the Dunkin run every morning
My Dunkin addition happened because of this UA-cam channel lol I need to stop, love Michelle but also embodied her coffee addiction.
Is your dream to quit the classroom and do this full time?
Teachers can definitely tell when there is a full moon.🤦🏾♀️
Good video. 👍
love your videos
Thank you so much Cade! 🎉
I am a huge fan of you and love the videos
Aww, thank you so much Lucas! I appreciate you watching and commenting! 🥰🖤
