Yes! You do have to wait a bit for shipping (just make sure it says it's in stock and ships within 24 hours), but it's so worth it. I just made a huge order of I think 17 products and only spent $150.
Good Morning Mandy, I stopped using Agency as well due to constant pilling and irritation. It never stopped. I was also using their Dark Spot Formula. I am almost thru with TT 1% gel and am using Medic8 Retinaldahyde and am really enjoying it. But, like you, I want to introduce Tret back into my skincare. Ive been using a lot of Essence and hydrating Serums, but I for sure am going to do as your doing, great method for Tret use. Thank you so so much for sharing this with us. I’ve got to place an order with YesStyle and am going to add your recommendation’s. Have a blessed weekend sweetie
I've been at .025% tret for 7 years and don't plan to ever increase it. I tried .035 once and my skin didn't like it at all. I still do not put it on my nose and or upper lip. It doesn't go well. Thank you for this video. Very helpful.
You are such a blessing Mandy! I have been trying to get subscribed with Agency. But since I was with Curology for so long I am not able to get in touch with my provider or whoever did my formula. Just a long story and I gave up. But this is such a blessing and an inspiration to me. I think I am going to try just regular Tret. I am going to go to the link in your description box. Your skin is just gorgeous. You’re the best! Thank you!👑✝️🙏🏻❤️
It was a bit of an effort to get switched over to Agency from Curology. I am not sure why it is such a chore. I hope you end up loving tret cream by itself!
I’ve always used tret. Tried to go 1%, but it was way to much. Backed down to .5% and use it 5 days a week with no problem. I couldn’t use Agency either.
Awesome routine! I have never had any irritation using tretinoin, probably because I use the microspheres gel formulation (alcohol-free) which uses an encapsulated method of delivery, but ALSO because I totally did the same schedule: one-night-a-week for a month, then 2 nights a week for a month, then 3 nights a week for a month, etc., starting out with .025, and eventually working up to .1%. The microspheres gel tret (brand name is Tretin A Micro) is more expensive as it is a 2nd gen (advanced) formula, but I need it because my skin is super sensitive. [I don't really love the Cureology and the other company (which basically is the same company, right? just difference in marketing/branding?), as they mix in other actives that all dermatologists advise against when starting/using tret. I don't know who they hire as dermatologists who formulate adding azelaic acid and other stuff like that into a formulation with tret. No thank you! lol]
I need to look into that one. I have been thinking about asking my derm for Altreno too. I am not sure how pricey it will be (have heard it is) but it seems amazing and the reviews are great!
@@MandyDavisMUA Is Altreno the super-moisturizing one? That sounds good too, although my dermatologists like to stick to a formulation if it works. Like a few years ago, I asked whether I should switch to the cream version after 3 years of Retin A Micro, and they said no, that the microspheres technology in this gel formulation is superior to the old cream, and there's no need to switch and possibly introduce irritation.
@@jcjccmz I do agree with that. If o get into using this multiple times a week I may just stick to it. It’s hard though when there are so many good reviews. 🤣
Great Video Mandy, I was just thinking about going back on my tret, and now I'm convinced. I am a big lover of K beauty as well. I hope you have a very merry Christmas
I tried Curology during lockdown and could never get to even three nights a week. I was ok with that but my skin was so irritated and flaky that I just gave up. I have used the Medik8 Crystal products and now Avene Retinaldehyde with no issues. But I would really like to give Tret another go. Maybe just skipping Curology and Agency and getting a tube of tret is the way to go. I have read you can use a lower percentage of tret with the same results as long as you are consistent. Hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas, Mandy!
Thank you Dee! We had a great Christmas. I hope you and yours did as well. And I do think that using just the tret is helping in irritation vs a compounded formula...at least for me.
I dropped back down to the .05% tret. My derm said better to use a lower strength nightly than higher strength less often. I still alternate my tret night with a retinaldehyde night. I still have occasional flaking but I think that is when my skin is damp when I apply my tret.
I need to try this routine! I get teeny tiny bumps from Tretenoin and it drives me nuts! That’s what my skin does when it’s irritated. I really don’t break out terribly anymore but I get those bumps from Tretenoin if I put it on first.
Great video!! Have you ever heard of applying Tret around 5pm and washing off at bed time? Know there is a real term for this. in other words not sleeping with it? I have terribly dry eyes and have heard people do this-think it would work? Avoids it coming off on pillow or somehow migrating to eyes even though I use eye cream and a bit of Vaseline under my eyes before applying Tret and never apply it under eyes…
@@carolesimmons9476 I have heard of this. They call it short contact therapy. I think once it’s been on for a certain amount of time, the likelihood of more migration is very small. The Vaseline (or any occlusive) really helps with this. The washing off is more for people who are SUPER sensitive to it or were told by a derm to stay out using tret this way to become acclimated. Hope this helps!
I stopped peeling when I ) went down from 0.1% to 0.07% 2) apply it over a good dry skin moisturizer (Paula's Choice Intensive Repair Cream) that sets before applying tret., very much like you.
Thank you for this video, Mandy! It never occurred to me that my tret peeling may be due to the Agency formula. In hindsight, it makes sense since the peeling has not stopped regardless of. how I tweak my routine. Either I'll go through the site you linked or ask my derm. for a script in Jan. I'm one of those people who cannot put tret around the mouth or nose due to peeling, but I can put .05% on my neck without irritation.
Oh wow...that's awesome you can put it on the neck. I tried once (albeit with my curology) and I looked like a snake shedding it's skin. It was coming off in literal sheets. Ha! I may have to give it a try eventually with this new one I am using.
Great video. So few influencers seem to use Tret except for a few and the dermatologists. I still believe it is the gold standard but I have horrible dry eye. I read somewhere that you can put your Tret on like as soon as you get home from work and then wash it off before bed. That way you avoid it migrating towards eye or getting on the pillowcase and near eyes. I actually have it on for about 6 hours. Do you think this would work?
I have heard of that. It's called short contact therapy, but typically it is much less time than 6 hours. I think by that time, it has sunk in so well, you won't be washing much, if anything, off. It helps to put an occlusive eye cream on before you use tret so it helps it not to migrate that direction. The Stratia eye cream is amazing for that.
@@MandyDavisMUA so glad you think that will work. Before my Tret I have been putting Revision DEJ eye cream on lids and under eyes and some Vaseline on top of it to keep Tret out but you think the Strata eye cream has enough occlusive in it. My Revision is wonderful for my eyes but very thin
Thanks for the video Mandy! I was using tret but I wasnt getting dry and flaky I was getting super dehydrated and it causes snake like texture and getting very oily ( but from dehydration) I was using lots of hydrating agents but not in this order. I wonder if I use this routine if my skin could tolerate it more. Also I just got the Allie’s of skin night cream you spoke of and I just ordered the at peptide serum ( boy that was expensive 🤦🏼♀️) I wonder if I might be able to use that as a serum under the tret too?
You are so welcome! The growth factor serum? I want to try that so bad. You could definitely use it in this routine. I would use it in the first "round" and the first product you apply after toner/essence.
@@MandyDavisMUA I ordered the growth factor it should be here this week I’m so excited!! I also ordered some Numbuzin no 1 glowy essence and no 2 ( for my tret routine I’m starting this week. I have a question. I dermaplain ( myself with stacked razor every other week and I shave 1x a week) would you use the retinol on the week I dermaplain or on days or days after shaving? Would you still use other exfoliants the same week of using tret ie: clindamycin pads or Paula’s choice or the Allie’s of skin mandelic pigmentation corrector? Thanks!! I tend to over donut with exfoliating and then spend months repairing my barrier. Hope your new years is blessed and full Of joy!!
I started using Curology back when you did per your recommendation. I thought you wanted to peel with RetinA - I thought that was the point of it - to slough away the old & dead skin cells and bring forward the young & fresh skin. That said, the RetinA you are now using is what I was using before switching to Curology. Maybe I will revisit it. With all these Essences, are you still using your Revision Toner?
Peeling is a potential side effect of tretinoin, but it's not an indication that it's working. There are many who never peel and still see amazing results from long term use. And I do still use my revision on occasion, but not near as much as I did before I started incorporating the essences into my routines.
Mandy, I know im like a broken record but if you have a P.O. Box I’ll have a bottle of the glazing milk mailed there. I swear if you love dr C essence you would LOVE it. I think you would but I would love to hear your thoughts anyway. 😊
Hi there...from my asking of Derms and understanding, no. The tret will still do the work it needs to do. In fact, some derms will suggest mixing it with a moisturizer to combat potential irritation.
Do you think since you’re using several products before the Tret that you’re really not getting much absorption which causes no flaking? That’s always my dilemma . If I don’t peel or flake I don’t feel as though I’m getting any benefit from it at all. Ohh the love/hate I have with Tret!! 😊
I personally don’t think so. It’s always been suggested to me to put tret on as a last step in a routine anyhow and because I am waiting so long in between, I don’t think it effects it at all. And I have heard many derms say that it is just as effective if you mix the tret with a moisturizer and apply. So there is definitely still benefit. ❤️
I love your routine. I don't have a lot of time to let my products absorb before applying my tret. I use a fan to dry my skin before applying tret. I'm using 0.15% from Dermatica right now and bumping up to 0.25% with my new shipment. That is where I was before I took a break from Curology about 6-8 months ago.
So helpful video! I’ve been using the same Tretinoin in cream for years, but just realized that it has BHT ingredient which is not good, what do you think about it?
For me it is. Just like I state in the video this is what works for me to make sure I don’t peel. If it work for you to cleanse, tret and moisturize, that’s great. It just doesn’t work for me.
Hi Mandy, thanks for replying. I have just recently got a script for Tret from my dermatologist, but haven’t started it yet. I’ve been a bit worried about using it. I must say your skin always looks so good and glowy Thanks again xx
