As you said no one budget fits all, I would hazard that if YOU compared each year that you sailed they would vary massively. Also because you will get your hands dirty, you can reduce a lot of expenses in most categories...I came across your channel when you bunked with "ODD" and "Expedition Evens" at the Boat Show, slowly catching up to your current location and content. Take care, stay safe and sail on.
Outstanding presentation guys. Thank you so much for an entertaining and educational "info-show." You have just convinced my wife that Europe, which is my desire, is the direction to point the bow vs the Caribbean. Cheers!
So the cruising life really cost about the same as having and running a house , with insurance , maintenance and cost of living (depending on your lifestyle) but you have the bonus of being able to move to a new neighbourhood when ever you want
James and Nat Was great Information Question Yall didn't talk about how yall get ur funds weather it be credit card or using ATMs in each country yall land in. fees and such for transactions One other thing I was wondering how yall started the process to get ur boat and what u spent to get started on ur adventure Also what u gave up to do so Where do u spend ur down time Love yall Great Couple
So how do have the equivalent money coming in to support yourself? Is it all out of a savings? Or do you earn as you go somehow? I’d gladly take this up full time but I don’t have $2000/month to stay afloat
We don’t really have health insurance as such....so we have been caught out a couple of times...having an emergency and just having to pay the big bucks! But thankfully....touch wood it only happens once in a blue moon! 😀thanks for watching 😍see you next week
You're living on the 'cheap'. My wife and I live in Florida, house, cars paid for. We don't pay interest to anybody and yet our monthly expenses are $3,ooo plus. We haven't gone anywhere in the last 5 years (unlike you). That does not include a new roof every 15 years @$15,000 or A/C @ $8,000 or pool renewal @ 10,000. Just trying to make you feel better. You're doing alright! Also noticed your constant vlog improvements over the last 96 episodes. Becoming more and more "entertaining and watchable" (is that a new word?).
The one cost no one wants to talk about is opportunity cost and or o lack therof..living a nomadic lifestyle can be cheap you are exchanging that lifestyle instead of working time working saving for when you are older you are losing out on that cost can never be recovered as investing young pays volumes when you are older. ask me how I know this it happened to me....enjoy your channel a lot and journeys!
The lady (aka first mate?) was dressed in such Paco Rabane style that would justify minimum half of that grand per annum whatever figure! Am sitting at zero $ anchorage at Hiva Oa and looking fwd to a very expensive wine party w you folks when you get over here (look out for SV "Single Malt"). Yep, Galapagos was a disappointment.
"How much does it really cost to live on a Sailboat?" In reality, everything you have. If you are smart 10% of your income goes into investments that grow faster than the rate of inflation. This gives you an "emergency fund". And obviously smaller boats cost less than larger boats. Remember this is always measured by displacement not length. Food seems to cost about the same regardless of boat size.
Being silly: y’all saved a ton By James NOT cutting his hair!❤️😎 truly my fav sailing UA-cam channel!❤️❤️❤️❤️🦩
Awww thanks so much. ❤️
Great video. You forgot to do the grand total at the end. Wish I added it up as we went along.
Thanks for the info..
stay safe..
A total would have been nice!
Congratulations. First time somebody explains in such detail and understandable. Bravo!!!! Keep up with this excellent work🤙
Thank you so much! Glad it was informative! It’s been on our list to do for such a long time! Glad we finally smashed it! Cheers for the support! 😍😃

Thanks Ron 😍🙏
Greetings from 🇨🇦. Excellent info and the video as always. Cheers 🤘
Thank You
Thanks for the detailed breakdown. You guys run a tight ship and it's good to know that it can be fun and not cost a fortune
Very helpful, thanks.

Yep. A super nice RV basically 😂
Pretty good and accurate information guys!

Cheers
$1,102 total.. you forgot to show a total... More importantly HOW do you pay for it.. What's the income stream???
James and Nat

One other thing
I was wondering how yall started the process to get ur boat and what u spent to get started on ur adventure
Also what u gave up to do so
Where do u spend ur down time
Love yall Great Couple
A great episode, thanks for sharing!
what is the nane of the Page you mention to calculate costs of clearance before you go to a new place?
Great video and thanks for breaking it down
I'm thinking if you get an aluminum boat than the maintenance will be much less to take care of the hull.
Too right! Next boat might just have to be 😂

It definitely doesn't need to be this expensive. Frugal sailors on small boats are running a couple hundred a month.
Thank you for so interesting video. What about health ensurance?

so the total for the year is? :)
If provisioning is $400 at 36%, then the total is 400/36x100=1111
@@francismontocchio9910 l got a 1960s education in England not a clue :)
@@francismontocchio9910 Per month or 13k US per year, +/-.
@@svhappymondays Apologies. Didn’t mean to imply that you were unable to figure that out. Was meant as a quick help. All good 👍🏻

No experience sailing
An older boat
How do I afford insurance ?

Who is in charge of the budget? It must be a nightmare of prices and currencies to deal with.
What category and how much did you spend over the past 12 months on propane for cooking etc? Keep up the videos, great viewing.
We put it in the other category. And we use very little over 3 months. E.g - 1 bottle at a cost of 6-10$ for 3 months.
U WHO. WHAT WAS THE TOTAL EXPENSE FOR THE YEAR. DA!

Covid? What's that?? 😃
for you a lot, for a dirty old crumb bum at anchor on a 22 hunter drinkin rain water and eating can food then not much
Your health ins costs are incredibly cheap.
