      @@inseiin Another ignorant liberal heard from... It's a FACT that Saddam had WMD's, that's what he used on the Kurdish civilians. He dropped the chemical bombs on them with Il-28 "Beagle" bombers, which are still sitting at Al Taqqadam Air Base in Iraq to this day. He shipped his remaining stock to Syria so they wouldn't be found, and that's why Syria has been using WMD's.

    Two major changes; a) F22s would be controlling airspace - it's literally the role they were made for. b) B-1s would be flying NOE at barely subsonic.

    • @Tattlebot

      B-1B can no longer fly low due to airframe fatigue.

    • @Twister6424
      @Twister6424 5 місяців тому +12

      And F22s would NOT be controlling the airspace especially if others like an F-15C, F-15E or F-16 could do the job for two big reasons: cost and risk. We've become very selective of what we'd use an F-22 for...most of which the public will never know about. It has to be worth it on both counts.

    B-1bs carry 3x the load of a B-52, and half again as much as a B-2. If the B-1Bs were unkept, they would flay terrain-following subsonic. This was tried in the F-111 Aardvark. They were originally meant to come in high at low supersonic, drop speed, and drop low to follow the terrain. The bombs would likely have parachutes to give the plane time to get away.

      Russian air defense deployed in Ukraine seems to be a lame duck. Speaking of air(craft), Aeroflot is to be avoided:
      A Russian cargo plane has been pictured exploding in the sky just minutes after taking off, with flames seen trailing through the air.
      The stricken Tu-204 aircraft sparked an engine fire, forcing the jet to make an emergency landing back at the airport it had departed from in Ulan-Ude.
      Russia has suffered a spate of air safety issues and the country is the subject of a “red flag” by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO). In the first eight months of this year, there were 120 air accidents in Russia involving civil aircraft operated by Russian airlines.
      This is more than double the number in recent years despite significantly fewer flights as a result of Putin’s war against Ukraine. Western sanctions have hit the supplies of aircraft spare parts to Russia.

      For all intensive purposes B-1s are subsonic jets. They can exceed Mach 1 only after emptying their bomb bays. The original B-1A was to have a higher top speed, but Jimmy Carter killed it.

    @adamwsaxe said, it's a nice video but impractical. Besides, that sort of carpet-bombing strategy, beloved of the RAF and USAF in 1944 has been made obsolete by contemporary HIMARS/MLRS systems (or the BM-30 / 2A36 systems as used by the Russians)... not to mention the SYPAC/CORVO drones costing no more than $4000 each as tactically deployed by Ukraine...

      that HIMARS strategy only works if you have troops on the ground within 300 clicks, the entire world is full of places that you don't want or can't have troops that close too
