As you dont yet have the beacons to mark places, you could use about 4 wooden posts on top of each other to mark the places you want, when you return you should be able to see them from a short distance away. there is a way to get the beacons by doing a certain mission, it will give you a beacon to place, when the ship arrives to deliver the beacon, take it and wait for the ship to disappear then go into your menu and you will see where you can ask for a replacement beacon, send for it and then when you have the second one cancel the mission, wait for ten minutes and try for the mission again, you can get four to six beacons to help you mark places long before you get to them in the tech tree. still enjoying your trip through Icarus keep up the good work.

Or craft a Creature Deterrent (Tier1 is cheap). It will mark the zone of it's effect with a Circle in the map. Even if the Deterrent doesn't have fuel, it still shows up in the map.

The place where you found the Deep ore Titanium and Iron (timeline: 7:00), high up is a perfect place to build a base. Crocs will not go there. Also Don't think Bear spawns in that place.
To fight a Bear, you need to step aside as soon as a bear charges at you. Shoot your arrows and step aside. Just like Mexican Matador and Bull fight.
The Deep Ore Mines -
A.) Tier 3 - Biofuel Miner. You need to Unlock 1.) Bio Fuel Composter & Bio Fuel Can 2.) Biofuel Deep Mining Drill.
B.) Tier 4 - Electric Miner. You need to Unlock 1.) Electricity Tool 2.) Wind Turbine/Water Wheels/Biofuel Generator/Solar Panel and 3.) Electric Deep Mining Drill.

Thanks for the advice about the base placement and bear fight tactic! I need some more practice to distinct when the bear decided to jump on me 😹

@@thescrewupteam The Bears/Polar Bears generally run straight towards you. You can avoid them by stepping aside. Just have to be carefull. Always make sure you have peak health and stamina. All your weapons and tools are 100%. A good set of Armor. Alterations (Alterations Bench, tier 3 &4) to improve the Armor and Tools efficiency. Invest in talents to improve the personal specs. Speed, Health, Health Regen, Stamina and Stamina regen.
Also for Arrows, I generally Unlock -> Stone -> Bone -> Flint (Tier 2, Level 15) -> Composite (Tier 4). For Bows I use Long Bow -> Recurve -> Composite and the Shengong CZ4 , available on the workshop.
Then you have the ultimate Trench Shotgun (Tier 4) along with Metal Slugs you have a massive damage. 3 Slugs a bear is down.
