Chokes are a total mental thing... seen some extreme stuff killed with half choke. The shot all goes the same distance! Just depends how confident you feel putting the pellets on target at range. Pick what works for you and leave it in the gun in my opinion!
Really good video guys! Very often new shooters are not fully informed, (or are afraid to ask) about the effect of choke. Best option is to shoot your gun at a pattern plate with each choke to get a picture of what the gun is doing. As Andy said, different cartridges throw different patterns, so bare this in mind when testing. BTW. (I believe I'm correct in that Skeet chokes are optimised for Skeet shooting. i.e. Throw an even 30" pattern at 22 yards with small shot.)
I use to change chokes all a time dont bother just stick with half choke in both barrels and I use gamebore 32 in plasic for pigeon shooting get long range in plastic and I use half choke for every think crow shooting and even going on pheasent shoots to but if you shooting crows use 32 grams number 5 shot for both crow and pheasents like gamebore black gold and least you can put steel shot through half choke to if you duck shooting or geese shooting as well
In Scandi pigeons very rarely decoy, so we must use tighter chokes for flightlines. Half for the bottom barrel and 3/ 4 or full on the upper barrel. For sporting 3/8 and half👍
Choking is such a minefield even before you factor in shot sizes and muzzle velocity there's really no easy fix feel sorry for the guy trying to answer these kind questions no one has the solution practice is the only way to understand how it works I've been shooting 50 years plus and still not sure
@@fieldtester7655 hi Charlie, what would you recommend a good fibre wad game cartridge that would be fine for pigeons/ ducks and pheasants? Thanks in advance

I wish I had half of Andy's pigeon shoot knowledge, great video as usual.

Great shooting Andy, always a pleasure to watch. All the very best
1/4 and 1/2 always works for me for pigeons 30g 6 for crows a like to drop a pellet size 30g 5
I like how Andy's head is constantly bobbing and weaving about, looking for the next kill, like a hawk. Proper predator, haha.
Homeboy is trying to concentrate with hunting and “question boy” decides that NOW is the time to conduct the interview! 😂
If in doubt 1/4 & 1/2 works for the average man on most days, game or clays. Most fixed choke guns unless Trap or Skeet, come with that anyway.
I have 1/2 and 3/4 in mine works perfect
Great content, but like interviewing a meerkat 😂

Why do you cover the cartridge when you are putting it in the Gun why can’t we see what shotgun cartridge you are using
Blaser barell 71cm. 76cm ?

Chokes sitting tight enough this way? (without tool) The manuals are never clear enough when you reach that paragraph. :)

Brilliant explanation thanks 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Great video! Does Andy prefer plastic or fibre wads for shooting in the field?
He's anti plastic wads because of the number a single pigeon shooter can leave in a field. / Charlie

What ever he's given or paid to shoot
I learned so much from this ! Thank you

Q buenas cazerias amigos saludos 🇪🇨
Muy buenas cazerias
Improved cylinder both barrels for decoying at sensible ranges
Particularly if you want to eat the birds. I have shot really high pheasants with cylinder and improved cylinder and 28g No 6 cartridge.
There are better discussions about chokes than this on youtube and why in a hide? Just posing, I mean who starts changing chokes in a hide😂
andys head movement makes me dizzy hes like the fly ( geoff goldblum )
