Enjoy these side by side of regular IPA and their big imperial brothers. Interesting to hear some of the similarities and differences. Also with some of these older IPAs it’s crazy how much this style has evolved. I agree these IPAs are essentially modern APAs. Me too, man! It's always fun to revisit some classics, but especially older hop-forward beers, as you can see how they evolved, as you mentioned. If I traveled back to the early 2010s, I'm sure I thought the IPA was super bitter and over the top, haha! I'll always hold a special place in my heart for Southern Tier, but a lot of their modern beer leaves a lot to be desired for me personally. The classics are still good, though. Cheers, Dan!
Dude, I drank so much Southern Tier from late 2009 until 2013ish. So many good beers! I wish they brought back some of their OG Blackwater series beers, as many of them were outstanding. These two have always been solid for what they are -- and I agree about the price point -- but they just don't stand out nowadays. I enjoyed doing the side-by-side, though. Cheers, buddy!

Nice, Billy! l remember you mentioning that you enjoyed Eel River's offerings. As for the tornado, it took place about 20-25 minutes south of me, as I'm in a northern suburb of Buffalo. However, a few friends of mine saw it, and they said it was crazy. Can't believe a tornado hit downtown Buffalo, but it's 2024, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Cheers, brother!
I don't think I've had many hop-forward beers from them that I love, but the 2XIPA and Unearthly are probably my two favorites, although the latter I haven't seen in years. Their big pastry-esque beers are definitely more my vibe. And yep, pumpkin season is almost here. Trying to figure out what to review for the 10 Days of Pumpkin this year, but I'm sure I'll figure it out. Cheers, again!

Just had a dipa from eel river brewery and it's pretty good. Did the tornado 🌪 come close to where you live or could you see ir here it cheers 🍻 🌪🌪🌪

I have not been super impressed with their IPAs. I think they do much better with their sweeter beers. Almost pumpkin season!
