      If you’re confused about the charges I just think of it as “if an atom loses two electrons that means there are more protons( positive charge )in the atom than electrons( negative charge)so it has a 2+ charge as all atoms started off with the same amount of protons and electrons. By adding an electron it means there are more electrons in the atom than protons. This means that it will gain a negative charge.

      just think about ions, 2+ formed when 2 electrons are lost, and 2- formed when 2 electrons are gained. Which means that they are like inversely proportional so yeah hope you find useful

    All fun and games until...
    You have to finish equations yourself
    You have to consider pH
    Ions no longer make sense (like in CaOCl2)
    You start creating stuff from nowhere

    One mistake is that the electrons in the half equations for oxidation and reduction should be swapped around. For oxidation the electrons should be on the right, vice versa. Great Video overall tho!

    Last-minute revision before the unit test. Chemistry is not my strongest point always got 4's hopefully this time round will get 6 and above. Physics and Biology are very easy, mathematics is my strongest.

    Isn't calcium sulphate going to form a precipitate? Does it make sense to split it into its ions if it's a solid? It isn't in aqueous state 🤔

    if I was given something like CuSO4 + Mg ➔ MgSO4 + Cu
    how would I know the charges without being told? Is it just something I have to remember?

      You can get the charges by checking the periodic table if that’s what u mean. Group one has +1 charge etc

Email them to give you the entire powerpoint they presented which is what i used to do as I used to miss pretty much most lessons for meetings on behaviour control and personal development opportunities as I was the head boy
