CORRECTIONS: 1) The Silent Hill 2 Story Trailer released August 19th 2024 and not September 19th. Minor, but wanted to mention it regardless. 2) A few of old members from Team Silent have since been spotted in the credits for Silent Hill: A Short Message. Since they're not part of the core list that i talked about in my video I didn't mention it, but it's still very nice to know. 3) A couple of times throughout the video I used the new logo of Kojima Productions (the ludens helmet) even though I should have used their old logo (the FOX logo). Again a small detail, but seeing as the studio had quite a lot of shifts after the Konami split and is effectively a brand new studio I wanted to mention it here anyways.
Team silent members are working on silent hill 2 remake thanks very much as was confirmed. By Konami. But you know no one pays the fuck attention to anything . Let’s see you have silent hill 2 original audio composer and creature and character designers 😍.
Yes I absolutely loved the Remake! I'll talk more about it in a video I'll make at the end of the year where i count down my favorite games for 2024. Thanks for the kind words man, appreciate it.
To add another, Shingo Yuri (a character modeler from SH2 through 4 and the lead character artist on 3) would later be a character artist for Death Stranding.
In fairness... SH1 was literally made to be a game made to benefit from the success of RE. Even the director of SH1 said they were literally trying to copy RE at first. Lucky for us... history didn't want to see it that way.
With the way the video is edited and presented I would've assumed you were a professional UA-cam with thousands of subs, I really hope this blows us cause your work on this video is incredible!! Great job bro!!! 👍 Fun fact: Akira is also working on the soundtrack for Bokeh Studio's Slitterhead
Game development roles were more interchangeable back then. A 3D modeller could become a writer and vice versa. Nowadays games are serious business and any chance of failure means losing a lot money that most people can't even fathom and sometimes even studio shut down, at that point you wouldn't dare to put new guy in charge or experiment with new ideas.
There is a strong rumor that Konami has a new internal team. They already officially started a in house production team. A lot of old Team Silent members helped on The Short Message as well. Surprised you didn't mention that. Sato is king. You never going to get all the old guard together. It's too late. Get who you can and inspire new talent. Also who hates Shattered Memories? Nobody.
I was thinking about including a part about Short Message, however seeing as only two people from my list were credited here I chose to omit it. There's so many people that went in and out of Team Silent that it would take ages to cover every single one. Thanks for mentioning that, it's been added to the correction comment!
@@Kmarksman Ito did the design of the Otherworld and Sakura Head. And Akira did the soundtrack. Short Message has flaws but it didn't miss with both design and music.
One random ass note at 24:25 , Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is actually really good, it's just pretty different. Homecoming is a piece of shit though.
Just the running sections with the flares are annoying. I'd love to play it again, but I don't have my PS2 anymore, and can't emulate the game for as much as I try. It's all laggy and glitchy.
@@SaddestManEver The Wii version is way better. Using the wiimote as a flashlight is so satisfying. Well, I do agree on the flare sections being the weakest part but I didn't find the particular bad.
I really like how this shed lights on this wishful thinking of Team Silent being this tightknit group of developers with a unified vision for the series rather than the reality that, arguably, there barely was such a team and the games were developed much the same way as every other gaming franchise with employees coming and going as Konami saw fit.
The Silent Hill team did have female members. Speaking of Heather, even though Shingo was her primary designer, parts of her design are as a result of input from the female members. Unfortunately, not all members of the team are given big name credits. Those are usually given to more prominent members with bigger roles and because we have more info on them, they're the ones who are discussed the most.
The wikipedia article doesn't mention the women at Team Silent but there were a few, there's always the story of how they said Heather would look better with a skirt and that's what she ended up having in the final version.
"Questionable interactions on Twitter" Ito blocked me forever for responding to a person that accused him of just making art that "Encourages rape culture" lol. He nuked me and I have no idea why. I told the person they had no idea what they were talking about. Oh well, I still love his work and can't wait for SH2 Remake. I've interacted with Hideki Kamiya three times on Twitter and never been blocked. First time stepping foot in the vicinity of Ito and I'm blocked immediately. How's that for irony, lol. Edit: I got to the part where you weren't sure if Ito is officially working on SH2 Remake. They're using all of his designs. He's in videos and livestreams discussing his input. Look it up, he has cool white hair now, lol. Anyway, great vid man. Edit 2: Now I'm confused, you mention it right here at 24:50. Maybe it's too late and I'm just caught in a time loop.
Shame about Mary/Maria, the voice acting for them are just plain awful especially for Maria. Also A Short Message was complete trash, showing once again trying to drag the old guard back into the game doesn't translate into quality games.
Plain awful is just rude. Monica Horgan (the og actor) was better in my opinion but the new one is very good as well, it's just a few lines that are not delivered with the needed emotion.

Great video! Akira Yamaoka also did the music score for The Medium (Bloober Team) and Stray Souls!
Except from Silent hill's ost, is there any of these osts worth mentioned?
Noone ever told that Medium had great score etc
@@akaunderdog4223I think Yamaoka wrote only a couple of songs for it, one of which is in the credits

Team Silent view It as a Masterpiece.
While Konami sees It as a Resident evil.

Great and interesting video, keep up the good work!:)
I wonder why they did not have fixed roles for consistency. Director, producer, writer... should've always be the same person in each game.

great video
Thanks youtube for recommending this to me
Akira Yamaoka also worked on Persona 4 :Dancing
Damn people are really coming out the woodwork to defend shattered memories… it’s uhhh not great
Iirc, Murakoshi directed one of the DLCs for Evil Within 1 as well. I found that on Moby games.
It is surprising that there were no women on the silent team considering how excellent they worked on SH3 and its themes
But there were on some of the old photos. So who were they if not part of the team?
