- In this week’s video, we’re taking a look at an excerpt from our Essentials of Elite Performance course that breaks down the Pencil Push-up and demonstrates how the eyes can have an immediate impact on physical performance. Grab a pen or pencil, observe how coordinated your clients’ eyes are, and re-assess their strength or flexibility to see the broader effects!

Thank you for always giving us good contents.
I'd like to know about specific mechanisms for this training. May I ask you about primary theories or refereces related to this training?
Great content doctor. Thank you. My 11 ys son was born with vestibular and learning disorder. He is getting better by doing therapies targeting propioception, vestibular sis. and mobility. He dreams of playing pro basketball. But he struggles a lot with reaction time, agility and brain processing. Some one suggested workout wearing strobe glasses. Do you think it can improve those areas?
Really cool. Love the distinction of tip of the nose and bridge of the nose. I'd been mostly doing these at the tip.
Glad it was helpful!
How about a course specifically for those driving tractor trailers buses and trolleys . Vision & brain health is so important
Thank you for the suggestion! So true!
What does the whole idea mean for someone with a severe visual impairment that beside other issues includes a nystagmus (uncontrollable eye movements) who is plainly unable to perform this kind of visual focusing / targeting with regard to his/her movement and training possibilities within the ZHealth concept? Can the motor system improve significantly if the visual system can't?
We think there are virtually always options available to improve motor system function, even when some systems in the body are more challenged. We have worked with a number of clients over the years with different forms of nystagmus with very positive changes. The challenge really lies in finding a professional or team of professionals to help design an individualized program. Thank you for the question.
Wow. I recorded myself and one of the eyes goes in a different direction... Is it just a lack of practice or there's something to be checked on? Thanks
It could be both! However, if one of your eyes goes in a completely different direction then this would be worth having evaluated by someone that specializes in vision training. Typically this would be considered "convergence insufficiency" and there are many options for working on it. Good luck and thank you for the question.
@@ZHealthPerformance Thank you!
Hello, I want to give a series of exercises to clients in an academic research work by combining the three vestibular, vision and spatial systems and measure some physical fitness factors such as balance, maximum strength, range of motion, Sargent's jump, etc. How can I get your help? Especially for exercises
Fairly sharp object. What if I use a knife as the focus tool?
Seattle area anyone trained in this?
My son is ADHD kid,his eyecontact is less, this exercise will help in eyecontact
My daughter had a MTBI in 11/2018. She developed convergence insufficiency which was 70% rectified by therapy. However, the issue has come back with more severity since 2022. Her convergence issue is beyond the point where she can start therapy. Therapist advised to use prism glasses to start therapy but that doesnt work. whats your advice?
I feel real sorry that no one has replied to you yet, I’m not a doctor so I have no advice to give, all I can say is good luck and I hope your daughter will be fine.
So why do you start out with the fast shoulder & arm exercise what does it have to do with the eyes.
The shoulder and arm exercises are movement assessments to test how the eye exercises impact the rest of the body. If you watch the whole video and others on our channel we talk about the extensive connections between eye movements and limb movements which is why we often use vision exercises in our work for other parts of the body. Thanks.
How many times do you perform these exercises?
Usually 3-5 repetitions, 3x/day. This varies dependent upon your endurance levels and responses but it's a good general place to start. Thank you.
Thank you. They induced migraine tho. In me. ❤
Sorry to hear that but that is a fairly common issue. We also tell our clients that if eye movements create any type of headache, it's important to consider your visual system as a possible contributor to ongoing headaches. Highly recommend you see a vision training specialist to see if they can offer you any additional help. Thank you.
Can't figure why physio don't use those wonderful and powerful tools. In chiropratic functional neurology we use thoses all the times !
We're not sure either, but it's wonderful to see more professionals beginning to incorporate simple neurological principles into treatment. I think the chiropractic curriculum in Europe was more strongly influenced by Janda, Votja and Lewis who were incorporating eye movements into mobilizations 50+ years ago. Thanks for taking the time to comment!
@@ZHealthPerformance Thanks for remplying !
Yes posturology is born in France (at least as they say) and knowledges have sprend across the globe thanks to the contribution of many podiatrists, orthopists, dentists, chiropractors, osteopaths...
In a few years health practioners should be much better than now ^^
