  • Simple to make Stitching Pony made from plywood. I want to try myself on some leatherworking in the near future which involves lots of stitching as well, so I start this journey by making this very basic but functional pony. Stay tuned for leather projects!

This is an extremely well done instructional. I must have watched a dozen or so vids on stiching pony construction but have to say this is the best. Your attention to detail is pretty impressive. Thank you for sharing this and for your time in putting it together.

Sweet, sweet stitching pony. I looked at many but going to make one just like this. The only thing I'll add is to run the carriage bolt through a spring with enough tension to open the jaws when loosing the knob.

Nice simple way to make a knob! Never thought of that

One of the best pony videos and I have watched around 50. Simple gluing the jaws makes much more sense than some crazy things I've seen. I plan on using solid wood for mine so I do not have to deal with the laminations if I thin down the body sides for more flex. Same for shaping the seat to make it comfortable. But... Plywood is all over my shop and yours turned out great.

Thanks a lot! Yeah , sadly it’s very difficult to get 4/4 lumber where i live . And i always have lot’s of plywood strips laying around.

Wow, best video so far. Attention to detail and no-nonsense. Great shop you build, seems like a joy to work in. People here throw away tropical / hard wood beds, a great source for material.

I've said it before - I love the effort you put in with your editing. Many may not catch those jump cuts timed to the music - but I do. Subtle but delightful.

Looks great. I would just add a compression spring and a couple of washers to the bolt between the two halves for easier opening.

    Hi Ollari's
I found your film on making a pony whilst I was watching how to make drum sander, been looking to make one from Pinterest but yours is live and with great down to earth techniques (love the hinge tip), will use the spring tip from the comments, will give this a go if I can get some ply wood as still in lock down from covid 19, Thanks for the inspiration.

Your channel came up as a suggestion for me and boy, I'm glad it did!! The two videos I watched was a small thin walled bowl that had some free-form holes carved out from it's sides. And this video, which is kinda spooky. Just last night I left myself a reminder to lookup one of these leather sewing/stitching pony's and without entering anything in the search box it came up. Weird! Anyway, I love the build. Very straight-forward design. I'm curious, do happen to have a cut list for this one? Also the weight number of the leather. Thanks!!

Hello. I'm Zoltán and I watch your videos from Hungary. Bigger clever or beautiful works! I would like to ask you to stand in front of carpentry equipment purchases and I am unsure about what brand of machine wear. What are the Scheppach machines? Are you doing precision work? I see you that is why I turned to you. I hope you answer my question. Best regards, Hungary Zoltán.
