Great video, you had lunch near my place! I moved to Canberra a year ago after living in Sydney my whole life. I much prefer the quieter small city pace.
If you ever come back to Canberra, you should check out Screen Sound (aka The Film and Sound Archives). Also Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve southwest of Canberra. You can include that in a day trip with Cotter Dam, Tidbinbilla Deep Space Centre and Corin Dam. Corin Dam is quite deep in the Brindabella range and the mountains are often snow capped in winter.
Thanks for the video. We’ll be living in Canberra for 6 months next year so it’s great to learn that you wouldn’t mind living there - as we’re not big city people either!
Camper and go to Tasmania in sept/oct and come back March. They send 400 odd so heaps available and you can add days for $20. Immovable is the best. Darwin relocations are obviously before and after the dry season
@@JordanandEmily Cheers. It was a wild scene. Not boring in the least. And there was a nice community spirit amongst the artistic community. If a band gave you a support gig, you'd give them one back in return. That didn't exist in the Sydney band scene. Ppl would take over squats or (once) the vacant PO in Civic and put punk bands on. The Uni bar (now demolished) was a great hang out place. I played many gigs there. Fantastic, vibrant scene. I had a ball.
Once again a GREAT video, Loved the “drive over title” editing in the beginning, looked so cool 👍🏻 Merry Christmas and a happy New year to both of you, to your family and to rest of my co followers ☃️🎅🏼 Ps. and yes, there was cake involved in watching this video 🧁🍰☕️
There are stacks of markets in Canberra on different days. My two favs are Jamo Markets and Fyshwick Market on Sunday. Others are The Little Burley, Northside/ Southside Farmers, Handmade, Hartley Hall, Tuggeranong Homestead, Capital Fresh Food, Haigh Park and Old Bus Depot that you went to.
Lol I love how it was Jordan this time that kept getting distracted "ooh bird, oooh puppy". I love Canberra but I don't know if I could live so far from the coast. I love the ocean
Hi Jordan & Emily, Another great video, can see the work you put into the multiple angle shots. Started watching your channel before going on a six week trip to Colombia (got back a month agp). Was a nice surprise to then see you visit the Old Bus Depot Markets in Kingston given I live 50 metres away from there! Also, next time you show an official Australian Coat of Arms, you could draw attention to the fact that the kangaroo is male... if you look for 'em, you will find 'em... and never be able to not see them again...
omg i've heard about sandoochie! its on my list next time im in canberra (which is hopefully soon!). capital region farmers market at the EPIC racecourse in Mitchell is a great one too if you're ever back in town, more focused on fresh produce however
Canberra has many good things about it and that's not all touristy stuff depending on your age and interests. I lived there between 1980-1995 from Melbourne.
Hi Jordan and Emily, I have never been to Australia so it was nice to experience the Capital Canberra, through this video. Being from the USA we always see Deer Crossing signs but I must say it is so strange seeing Kangaroo Crossing. I guess that is a real thing with all of the Kangaroos there. Since you mentioned about relocating of cars for Rental Companies they have really good deals for Cruises as well if you catch a one way relocation Cruise. There was a Travel Blogger that took a Cruise from Seattle Washington all the way to Sydney Australia, a 26 day cruise, for only $1,000. US dollars.
Hi Ben! We almost took that same cruise home but the flights to get from south america to Seattle were too much! We do have a one way cruise to New Zealand soon though!
Definitely a valid comparison between DC and Canberra, Huge % of Govt employees and a central area that contains nothing to do after 5pm!!.(That's not a bash lol) Hope you gave your families an awesome surprise when you got back to Adelaide!
Hey Michael, they certainly did surprise us, they came home a week earlier & had organised everything with Emily’s sister who surprisingly didn’t let slip their plans. It was the best surprise I could’ve had as I missed them both so much
I love Canberra i been here 10years just came back this year in Feb but I miss my Canberra weather nd atmosphere but the immigration rules are hard that time 😢😢
Love that you stayed in QBN but still said Canberra hahaha! Canberrans make so much more fun of Qbn than outsiders think! good video! Next time you're back down our way i definitely recommend going for a walk in tidbinbilla or the botanic gardens!
Americans have meat pies. They have more vegetables in them than the ones in the UK and Australia... We call them Pot Pies. They aren't hugely popular though. The only fast food ones that I know of are from KFC and they are pretty good. You can also get them frozen from the grocery store; some of those are not great but the more pricey ones are okay.
The reasons why Australians don't like Canberra are ignorance and prejudice. They believe that Canberra is occupied solely by terrible public servants. The fact is that most Canberrans work for themselves or in privately owned businesses.
Most Canberrans work for themselves? Is this according to you? Most Canberrans work for government departments or in private companies work with the government
I was sitting in my car parked across the street from the hungry jacks at the start of me watching the video, i literally just looked up and saw the same thing as my phone.
Just quietly there are mountains. But I think you did realise that part way through your video. Honestly don't bother with the Cupping Room. Mainly just hype. So many good coffee places in Canberra. Including coffee and food at Parliament House by the way. The Bus Depot Market is fun, what is there at any time can vary. The winning design for Canberra was by Walter Burley Griffin and his wife Marion Mahony Griffin, who is finally getting recognition. Many of the people who hate Canberra have never been. Hence what you hear is often incorrect. Lots for you to visit next time. Put The Arboretum on your list. Canberra has beautiful weather including glorious sunshine on most winter days. (Timed tickets began in a lot of places with covid.) Oh we've never cleaned a rental car when returning it.
The big lake you were at was Lake Burleigh Griffin, named after Walter Burleigh Griffin, the winner of the competition to design Canberra, fun fact for you Jordan. Canberra does get a bad wrap, more than likely because of all the politicians and not much happening after 5pm. Adelaide gets a bad wrap because it’s supposedly has a bucket load of churches but in reality there’s not, and supposedly not much happening after 5pm here as well, but I think over the past few years there’s a lot that happens in Adelaide after 5pm. The war memorial is a must see at least once but even better to go more, there’s always something you didn’t see last time. But there is one thing that would be really cool to do in Canberra & that is to stay at Jamala Wildlife Lodge, where your room is in with the lions, giraffes, meerkats or even have the huge aquarium as a backdrop in your accommodation, only thing is, it’s pretty expensive. Good one you two. Miss you both, love you, mum.xx
