J'ai écouté tellement de soprano sur le même thème mais je trouve qu'elle a quelque chose qui illumine et développe un charme formidable ! Magnifique...

People always generalise about Danielle and people love to hate, her tonal quality is indeed very bright, and she is still very young, however live recordings like this always show that type of frequency as harsh. Her performance skills are brilliant, and her voice is actually extremely dexterous ... some people just don't like the 'sound' of her voice, and everyone is entitled to their opinion of course, however not if they constantly compare her to everyone else ... She is extremely skilled and passionate as a singer and performer, and very different to other singers. She represents a new age of Opera Singer, her performances are connected and 100% committed. You're always going to get a divide based upon what you personally find aesthetically pleasing, however opinion is opinion ... Not the be all and end all, and there are some comments that are just unnecessary, because they don't add any perspective, and how can you appreciate art by basically saying 'no' to the entire piece when it's more interesting and relevant to discuss perspectives. Danielle is extremely popular, otherwise she wouldn't be singing where she sings and she certainly wouldn't have the exposure that she has had and continues to get. It just seems like a lot of bitter people criticise her as being a substandard Opera Singer. She is a professional in every sense of the word and is a world class Opera Star, because she kind of gets paid to be one ... And people want to see her and want to experience what she has to offer and it may not be Cecilia Bartolli or Angela Ghergiou ... but she's Danielle and that's what makes her shine !

Danielle just doesn't have the voice to be considered world class - this in spite of her appearances at some of the world's top opera houses and her apparent popularity. I do admire her ambition, the work she has put into the development of her voice and her acting skills but , alas, it's not enough to overcome her lackluster performances.

Muchos escapes de aire, siendo que ella es ''profesional''... se le aguantarían a una estudiante pero no a alguien que tiene tan extensa carrera...

LOL! Although I do appreciate that she strives to be an actress & is very dramatic in her performances, I must concur that that voice (& technique) is no-more-no-less mediocre…Since when was she regarded as "world-class" really? Because the Brits thought her charming & adequate, will-do, in her abilities, & with that banking on billing her as The Next Great…? I don't think so.

Well if she's performed multiple times at the Met and Glyndebourne...plus several CDs and concerts round the world - that implies "world class" in my book! It is the lack of integrity that is a bit disheartening - I am a young singer and there are a few girls I know fresh out of music school who can sing far better!

I've tried to figure out what it is about Danielle that I don't find appealing - or why I don't place her among the great sopranos. First, I describe her singing as frequently strident, sometimes even shrill or labored. Second, I think she is, not infrequently, very much out of tune.

yep..."silent breathing" is the mark of a great singer, loud breathing/snorting is but one indication of poor technique.
I find it incredibly annoying that she is exalted as a world-class singer, whereas she is so far from it!!
