@@Patchess why you gatekeeping. And no i dont think all of nelwards songs sound insane. The lyrics may be nonsensical but the actual singing isnt always. Like in Minus World he sounds like hes portraying a douchebag while in Let Me Out he sounds frustrated thanks to both his lyrics and tone. Also side note Rad Giraffe isn't nearly as popular as the other albums. The way you replied just made it sound like you think I'm a fake fan or something stupid

This is almost feel like a deconstruction of love songs. Its a tearful, exuberant confession of love that, in its metaphors, protrays it's singer not as romantic, but deranged and obsessive.
I might just be making a stretch but i think this song and Gumdrops is about gratification to hide other personal problems? It's hard to think about what bothers you when you are ingesting things to not think about what troubles you. Finding small muses or something sugary to keep the mind preoccupied. Because being on fire means you aren't dead. It isn't healthy, but you gotta stay alive.

Can I just say: Nelward’s music videos are honestly just as good as his music. The trippy visuals perfectly complement the music and lyrics, and really help to maintain that unique “Nelward” feeling about it.
I guess what I’m trying to say is, I really respect the effort that he puts into all aspects of his content. Another great song, as always ^_^

Nelward is truly and artist in every way i could think of, you really don't get to see a music video this weird but entertaining anywhere else, you don't hear beats so different yet so addicting Anywhere else except from nelward, and you only get lyrics so fun and relateable yet abstract from nelward.

my toddlers and i have watched this juntae probably a hundred times by now, and i gotta say... we like it.
I've read another comment analyzing this song and after that the more I listen to this song the more it feels like someone trying to avoid confronting something horrible.
I see the "whistling" as a metaphor for trying to be fine and cool which is supplemented by these trivial things like ASMR videos and Cupcakes.
"Keep me on fire" at first seemed to contradict this as it seemed to suggest a stoking of the flames (which in this case are the troubles that plague the singer) rather than ignoring them. However, paired with the lines "Into the burning gaze winds will obscure my ashes", it reads to me that he wants to ignore the flame entirely and just let it fizzle out. He doesn't want to stoke it or put it out, simply let it be and let it metaphorically burn him out.
There's probably more to it but that's the general gist of my thoughts. Excellent song, Nelward!
what i think makes it even better is the title of the song, “cosmic relief” which sounds similar to comic relief, may refer to the fact the “cosmic” issues adressed that are very real “keep me on fire” ~ possibly relating to real world problems like forest fires and other aspects of the world similar are being suppressed. hence the “relief”. the fact that it is also a wordplay on comic relief may indicate the idea of people using entertainment as a way of distracting themselves from such things, like in the verse “have you seen this new asmr?” and “to gratify the hair upon your arms” (this verse possibly refers to instant gratification)
