it cost 35usd per month (30 days pill) in my country, with maximum 4 months supply allowed during each purchase. Thank you for the well explained and simplified video. PrEP is indeed highly effective. However, I think it is inaccurate to say that PrEP is free of side effects! Of course, it depends on how often you take it and what kind of dosing regime you follow, but chronic use of PrEP can also cause elevated kidney or liver enzymes, and that is why it is very important to regularly check with your physician for side effects and more to test for HIV infections.

For individuals using Truvada as PrEP, how does the immune system expel HIV from the human body after it enters the body and is prevented from replicating in the cells?
The same way your immune system rids of any other invaders that enter your system. Prep just prevents hiv from making copies of itself therefore your immune system has a better chance of killing the virus completely.
Hi, everyone. I have a question. Would you know any scientific studies whether an HIV-negative person taking PrEP can be a carrier of the virus or not for a few days? While PrEP protects the user himself or herself, will it also protect other people that PrEP user is having sex with? For example, if I were taking PrEP and had bareback sex with an HIV-positive person, and I also had bareback sex a few days (say, 2 days after) with an HIV-negative person, will I be able to infect the negative person with HIV? How long will the HIV stay in my body? Will I be a carrier of HIV for a few days or not at all? Hope you can answer! Thanks!
Exactly. Like for me for instance, I’m Covid vaccinated and I, with no mask on was around a Covid positive family member with no mask on. Needless to say, I didn’t catch the virus.
If you need be out of risk and protect the next person out of risk, you need to take PrEP once a day (same time daily) for 7 days before you have sex and 7 days after you have sex (a total of 14 days).
I barebacked a pos guy while on prep, and felt like my immune system was working in my blood for a few days after. Actually felt great, energized. Or maybe it was all in my mind.
This is actually a very good simplified explanation of how PrEP works
All People should be prescribed for free for lifetime PrEP use , to stop hiv

I think we all know that there's actually a cure for HIV out there. But it is not being released.
I did catch STDs 2 times. It was gonorrhea. I had to stop having sex for weeks to months.
Great video! I’ve been on PrEP for over three years and it is highly effective!
are you still using protection like condoms?
@@style2827 oh yes. PrEP only protects against HIV. Not other STDs. So condom use is still recommended.

Similar to the way vaccines work.

You wouldn’t have enough viral load during the first few days of a single HIV virus entering your body and replicating itself to infect someone else.
Exactly. Like for me for instance, I’m Covid vaccinated and I, with no mask on was around a Covid positive family member with no mask on. Needless to say, I didn’t catch the virus.
