Every single parent will tell you that it is a two parent job. If both parents are equally invested and involved.

If parenting was a one person job how come so many single mums are looking for 'a real man to step up and be a dad to my kids'? I mean lets not even go into the horrifying statistics of fatherless children.

People in the comments are over inflating and missing the point. No one is saying that single parent can't raise kids to be brilliant successful individuals. What we are saying is that statically kids do better in a two parent situation. Financial, emotionally and across many factors make these situation better for kids even if one parent is only present Financially

Mismanagement of the state caused parenting being a two-person job, especially as both parents must work to make ends meet and sometimes still struggle

This is true, but would it better to have one parent and one parent working??

All she cares about is father's paying. Talk about the welfare state and benefits system.... And how mothers use that to avoid supporting themselves, housing themselves and avoid paying for their children!!

What would she do if benefits were cut, or the father stopped paying child support.
Shes a strong single mother until she has to provide for herself.

My mother raised 3 children on her own, worked full time and paid the mortgage on a beautiful large property. She was married to my father but unfortunately he was violent. She wasn't going to stand for it nor she wanted us growing in that environment. When she divorced him he quit his job so he wouldn't have to pay for child support. She never said a bad word about him. He never could be bothered to come see us. We all found out what a waste of space he was once we became adults. She kicked a** as a single mother and he spent his miserable life living with his sisters because he couldn't afford his own place without a job. My mother never claimed a penny in benefits and everything we have we owe it to her and her hard work. Never complained, just got on with it.

@BP-of5cp respect your mother. But your minority case study does not override the majority. Ask your mother if she thinks your father paying support would have helped at all? Cuz I know it would have financially and mentally. You may have had an amazing childhood but I bet my any money that she was struggling mentally and financially

@@celebibi4360 yes I can only talk for what I've experienced but I can also tell you that a few years after the divorce a single middle aged men was asking her out and he was quite comfortable financially. She politely turned him down and she did it because she just wanted to get us into adulthood without any interference. She probably would have been more comfortable with child support from my father or remarrying with this other man. She chose to stay single because it was what she thought was safer for us rather than her comfort. Now we're all adults and we have children ourselves so trust me we understand what she sacrificed

Thats like saying kids with 2 parents never get into trouble. The Menendez brothers is a counter point.

Parenting is hard regardless of the number of parents.

Confused by this comment… all kids get into trouble. If every situation was like the menendez would that mean the ideal standard is being an orphan?!? There’s a reason that case made headlines. Not ALL parents are paedophiles.

The black grew up in a single parent family and is now a single mother. No stick there, black fathers always disappear.

Obviously, it’s a two person job. It may sound off topic but I chanced on this cool translator that does everything and more of what a translator should have, name is Immersive Translate and one thing that can really help is it’s new feature, which lets you create a custom AI expert for translating anything. Thank me later, it's gold.

What about Widowed single mum's or dad's - If two is better than one - where does that leave those of us where death removed the option! Kemi needs to check before she says things - the reference to Autism as privilege was a perfect example of that!

Also a widowed single mum here, My son & only child just started a physics and maths degree, not a prison sentence so it's not right to put those two statistics together. Poverty and lack of youth groups and mental health support for families which when George Osborne came in 2010 with his Austerity measures.
