It's funny how time has changed and wish i could bring back the yesteryears but their gone and drag racing in the 70's were the best years and all i have left from those days are good memories
If anyone remembers Great lakes drag away in Union Grove Wisconsin. The farm field by the starting line was part of my grandma's farm. During the 70s my uncle would take a bunch of us kids back on a hay wagon and tractor dropping us off to watch the races. Great times and views from the starting line. Wouldn't trade those memories for anything!!
In the summer of 1971 or 72 they came to race at Wichita International Raceway in Wichita KS, I was a kid then but remember it fondly, those were the good old days, thank you!

Did I just see the Snake in black? And Color Me GONE is one of the best names on a car. The advertisements are cool too, cool stuff
You're right. That was Snake III. Prudhomme wanted to paint the car all black. There's a story behind his decision but I can't remember it exactly.

A lot of imagination and effort went into all these cars. A time in history that won't be repeated.
These cars would draw a crowd!! Fuel Altereds would do this too, The MOB , Nanook , Plan A , Johnny West !

I saw an ad for a 'Fighting Irish' Funny Car, which I would love to know more about! Was Tim Beebe involved, after the tragic loss of John Mulligan?
Was that a pic of Larry Reyes before his accident?
I remember going to U S 30 dragstrip off of Highway Us 30 in Indiana and then they built the South Lake Mall and closed the drag strip and it was very sad day for me and the other people involved with races.
