Two successive defeats of Super GM rated around 2800+ by GMs at 2600+ ratings. I don't know what is happening to Caruana .. but probably the online rapids and blitz affected his classical game. That's why you have to appreciate the reigning World Champion Carlsen greatness for being able to maintain consistency in classical 2840+, and in rapid and blitz. Carlsen must be the greatest all-around chess player of all time as it stands, While I still have Kasparov as the greatest classical chess player, Carlsen is fast approaching as one. I don't see anyone including Nepo could topple him in the next World Chess Championship or within the next decade. Alireza probably if he keeps on progressing but that is still 2-4 years away.
Carlson is great but only Caruana knows what is happening. If there is something wrong in his personal life it can affect his performance because GM are humans like all of us.

So Magnus is very lonely at the top with a huge margin over the rest. By the time the World Championship comes along, Nepo may very well be #3 in Elo, or #2 if you consider that Ding is only preserving his points by not playing. That basically clears up any confusion that Nepo is the best challenger, regardless of what one thinks of his chance of winning.
One of the best things I like about agadmator's game analysis is that he always tells us "and it is as of move '#' that we have a completely new game."

Hello Mr Agad! A suggestion for you; when making the thumbnail for your video you should place the chessboard on the left as it is often obscured by the time of the video in the thumbnail, which is how youtube displays it. Ideally we'd see the whole board, then the face of the player etc can be on the right hand side. It's a mistake I see a lot of even very big channels such as yourself make.

Per live ratings, he's lost 39 rating points this year. And if he just draws his remaining 5 games, there's a real chance he will fall to #7 in the world. Sure he can turn it around but this hasn't just been a bad tournament. Ever since he beat MVL in the first round of the candidates resumption its been a catastrophe for him. Nobody wants to see this happen. It's incredibly concerning to see one of the most solid players completely implode like this. Something's clearly not right.

Fabi played very few online matches so I don't buy that. Magnus has been playing in a tournament EVERY month but you don't see him losing like Fabi
This event has been a rating trap for all the 2700+ guys, especially Caruana. maybe one of the reasons Nakamura isn't playing.

There is a great book on this . It's about the coverage . I find it very easy position to draw in . Providing pawns are structured correctly

because white rook at E1 is hanging. if you capture en passant, you will open a path for black rook to capture and check
