  • Small adventures bring the biggest smiles and this small trip had quite a big outcome. It was a last minute decision as out previous airfield wouldn't enable us to land there so we spoke to Tim at STOKE GOLDING airfield and he was more then accommodating and allowed us to stay overnight. We packed our kit, checked the weather and NOTAMS and then set off. It was a really wonderful stay and I would highly recommend visiting and staying over.

    My, "Pot Noodles" the Highlife! Interesting as always, hadn't noticed location of your PTT button before. Amazed how much camping gear you both managed to squeeze in and pleased you found a suitable evening to fly at DM and no strong crosswing. Look fwd to "Grand Tour" take 2.

      @@GolfFoxtrot22 Yes was flying my Align trex 550 yesterday.. But had to step in as an Instructor as a young lad and Dad turned up needing training. I was a bit nervous as I am so rusty with fixed wing since I mostly fly the heli. And the boy had bought the plane with months of hard earned pocket money.....But he was very good, will be quick to learn and you can tell he will move onto full size as he is a natural.

    Great to see your version of events! 🙂 Just love the whole concept here, Giles. This is EXACTLY why I bought a PeaBee and I can't wait to make this kind of trip a reality. Not quite the amount of flying I'd hoped for this summer but I will be putting that right as soon as I can. 👍

    Excellent 😁 Great trip! Shame about the neighbours - ear plugs are essential for camping - even without noisy neighbours it's amazing how little soundproofing a tent offers 🤣 Certainly got the weather for it! Hi Mike, I think I've learned to tune things out, Paul not so much. It was genuinely too good an opportunity to not go. It was a real shame about the other airfield not being able to accept SSDR machines, that's a first on me.

    The chaps in the picture were actually a bomber crew and not fighter pilots.
    The field you landed at was originally owned by the owner of H J Hall of indestructable socks fame in the 1960s and his plane was the only aircraft that flew in and out. He would do a low pass before landing to clear the sheep.

    It looks like so much fun! I can't wait to go flamping! I had always dreamed about getting a bushplane to do that with, but when am I going to be able to afford that???? Besides, flying my Peabee is so much more fun. BTW, the plan is to have two Peabees, one electric (for soaring) and one gas (for cross country, flamping, etc.). Thanks for the video Giles! Keeps my dream alive. :)

      @GolfFoxtrot22  11 місяців тому +1

      Hi NSM3, I know, there are a few that have similar planning permission limitations, Turweston doesn't allow flexwings in full stop and they have tried to get this changed from recent conversations. Stoke Golding was beautiful and I will be going back.
