Well @Nathan Florence - I’m 62 and months later still trying to get over the groin tear from trying one of your previous exercises without warming up! There no accounting for stupidity (mine). Maybe knife throwing will be safer for me. A nice high target just above the top of the neighbours fence.
Seeing John John not do that spin flawlessly is.. shocking actually Nathan is always landing crazy sketchy drops on 40 ft waves we know he's a wild man 😄
I love it that Nate isn’t just the big wave silly Florence anymore (which he was already insanely good at), but the man has got some serious style and flow now. Would be interesting to see him as a wildcard at Bells or Jbay
That’s your best work , the complete package , incredible soundtrack . Unreal surfing. You live in such a beautiful world , I visited in 05 16 year ago . The way the land meets the sea , So much beauty and power Mountains to deep sea canyons Thanks Aloha That knife throwing though Lessshhhhh go
🌟❤🇿🇦 🌟❤🇿🇦 Thank You so much for that "SUPER AWSOME DISPLAY OF SPECTACULAR SURFING" Thank you sharing the Splendid Ocean Views, haven't been able to get there in 20Yrs. It's cool chillin with you guys in the yard fond and very familiar memories, hey nat I see some shades of old BK, or Jeff Hackman ln your style 😉 super mad respect 🙏 and big aloha
Dear Surf Camp Counselor Florence - great to integrate land training 360’s then for advanced surfers watch you apply on the water , and for us grooms just FUN to watch . Turtle Bay Psych School got nothing on you . And don’t threaten Nathan at Haleiwa Cafe, he will CUT you brah !!
Hey Nate, surfed 7 hours yesterday, NZ. Use Zinc sunblock similar to yours, did you apply it to your eye lids and around close to your eyes? My face was sweet but around eys and eyelids are fried!
NINJA SURFERS!!! Incredible session, all! WOW. What's it like punching through a wave to the other side? You should GoPro it. The ending segment is epic, ethereal...
Are you kidding me on that first turn!??????? @2:55 How you put the board on rail is absolutely nuckin futs. Outside of being a pro athlete with a pro athlete body/ strength and unreal range of motion… can you share any tips or breakdown on your hips and where you look, ect, would be so helpful brotha?
I spat out drink on my porch thinking about random footage from a few houses down of y’all jumping and spinning and someone thinking TF are they doing? Haha
Practice the spin on a trampoline with a small board and footstraps - that's what you do snowboarding Also wind your arms back, then release them as you pop and your body will follow!
NATHAN NATHAN NATHAN - it's called 'SPOTTING' a turn in Dance. I'm so surprised watching this video by the fact that you all were not capable of executing a clean multiple aerial turn. You're the worlds best you should be able to do a clean double to your weak side and a triple to your strong side. I love and live by your videos as an old Venice beach surfer. OK solutions - I used to teach Break Dancing to teens and adults, many of whom were athletes. Understanding the science for controlling yourself in space around your center is an art form and very important in competitive art sports - X-games, Surfing, Gymnastics etc... Anything where you use your body in creative ways as an athlete and being judged. 'Proprioception' is your brains ability to know where your body is in space. John does this naturally very well. Was he taught or did it come natural? So how to spot? Very easy conceptually, but like anything, practicing is the only way to master, as you practicing will open your world up!! Spotting - stand on the grass in your centered board position. Keys - your head placement, the feet placement, and your shoulder angle. All have talking points. But to keep it simple. YOUR 'EYES' ARE EVERYTHING. What you focus on is the key. Thats why it's called 'spotting'. I watch Koa in his video - LOL - I love the brother, but I smile every time he tries airs, his eyes go all over the place. OK so you're standing on your board ready to jump and spin and land back down perfectly. Pick (spot) something out in front of you at top of head height 20 feet away. Not to high not to low. right at your head height. Its all about timing, coiling balanced over your center, and hold your head focused on your spot and whip your head back to your spot, and mark your landing. - Thats it! Here is a random video. ua-cam.com/video/egnsR9hz1zc/v-deo.html (I just picked this out. There are many video on good spot turns). It amazes me that more athletes don't seek out dance pros to help them. By the Way Nathan that would make a 20 million viewer video if you, Koa, John the whole crew did a session with an amazing dance instructor in their studio on how to perform perfect triple aerial turns, especially if you all wear dance tights. Freaking great content!!! Soon there will be the day when Surfers find a way to leave theirs boards with aerial movements and return. Nature controls the power of ocean, you can control your body in space. We best wishes and blessing to all of you.
John John rides the board very well. His turbo rail power 💥 explosiveness is very enjoying for me to watch and imagine it was me. I have tattoos and I’m very athletic and I’ve been boogie boarding for almost 10 years not to brag but it’s true. I’m hardcore what can I say ? I know I’m not John John and I know he’s not me and I don’t need you or anyone else reminding me. I also rap back home and have some rap songs about me and John John and how we kick it every time i come to the North Shore 🏝 brah I have fins on my boogie board so I can go faster and they look just look hardcore like my turns and my tats bruh. I’m pretty good, its all good don’t hate but I should go pro. I shralp the lip and ride the tube. I have a call when I’m in the line up like a rooster 🐓 The boys know it’s me and respect is given I kinda own the lineup except when John John in the water but then it’s like a tie. We are kinda like brothers I give him tips and we rap a little in the line up. Every year my family makes it’s journey from Arkansas. I always let John brah know before I’m ready to hit the North Shore and the barrels We have a little call in the water that most people wouldn’t even know except us. Yeah brah Johnny John I should be out in January

You all are so athletic, and you're so used to thrashing about, that you fight through your center faults and land! You should be athletic, your tribe is perhaps the best in the world. Check out the GOAT in dance (Mikhail Baryshnikov) and his aerial turns. ua-cam.com/video/EhN4_vSPyaI/v-deo.html Slow down and pause the video at 3:00, they compare him Mikhail - on the right, two a strong dancer - on the left. Notice when he takes off and click through frame by frame to see how centered they are. Watch their arms, spine, head, and how they spot. NOW WATCH you turns. LOL!!!! It's so cool to see the best surfers in the world who defy belief with mother nature. Soo funny and cool, that even YOU can learn something new. Nathan - Check out your set up for your turn at exactly 0.31 sec? Your arms are out, your eyes are up, as if you're prayer to the SUN GOD! Then as you jump your eyes go down, arms overhead, and then you job your shoulder and center to land right on your board. Terrible technic, but your professionally trained body makes it work. Not so true if you freeze your frame at 1.02sec. Same thing arms out, this time your head has launched backwards. Same with Johns attempts, he is way off center, but uses his arms so effectively he fights through and lands. Especially check Ivan at 1.11 sec, he looks strong in his squat, but his first move with his head is head thrashing backwards. To really see who among you is the best at aerial turns you must attempt a double turn. Honestly, a single aerial turn is something kids do. Try Doubles, and then I strongly recommend doing two hour session with a trained dancer in town at a studio. Even Ask Mukua. He would do it. Then ask JOB for a few soft tops, and on a small day get busy in the surf moves never done before. Instead of doing a jump switch stance, try a double jump return, back to starting positions, then hit the bottom turn rocket up to a backside grab, land it racing to the bottom where you plant a 1990 before the close out!
WERE BACK IT WITH SOME QUALITY LAND TRAING EXERCISES LOL, KNIFE THROWING, AND TUBES/SURFACE OF THE SUN SUNSET! THANKS FOR ENJOYING THE VID
so sick! you should do an aussie tour next summer :))
