CCR didn't know HOW to make a bad song. Trust us, (all of the commentors), when we say that being you've loved the two Creedence songs that you've heard thus far, you'll probably love them all.
The irony of this southern Mississippi sound is that they're all from California. React to "Run Through The Jungle" or "Lodi" next, please. You'll love any CCR song you listen to. Thanks, Polo. May GOD bless you and yours!
I love how you find great songs by artists that no other reactors are doing, yet they still are great songs and showcase the bands well. Thanks for doing what you do.
And you thought Led Zeppelin was a rabbit hole; John Fogerty is still performing today! 55 years and counting. His catalog is enormous. Lead guitar and Vocals in CCR. Songwriters HOF. Rock & Roll HOF.
I was introduced to CCR when my brother came home from Vietnam. He used to stay in his room for hours with CCR cranked up. I was thirteen at the time and found that I liked them, too. My favorite group before CCR was The Monkees!!
This song came out in 1957 performed by the writer Dale Hawkins. Many have done it but this is one of the best! You should hear their version of Heard It Through the Grapevine.
That change in the vocal quality about halfway through was from Jihn Fogarty singing through a mega-phone. In the early days, a venue might easily have a sound system. To increase volume, the performers would sing through a mega-phone. No electricity is required. 😮
One of my favorite fogerty stories i read was about how he paid out of his own pocket to have a bunch of old blues players that died poor or broke headstones put in so friends, family , and fans could go visit the graves of these amazing artists. A true music icon in my eyes.
This song was in "Apocalypse Now" with Linda Carter dancing in a USO show. That image always pops into my head with this song. Run thru the jungle , fortunate son or Bad moon rising are good followups.
Such a late 1960s sound. This song is 56 years old. CCR's music is generally simple but fun. They are never super technical like Rush or Led Zeppelin, it's more the feel of their songs.
My fav. CCR song, so many parties we would play it around midnight and blow the roof of the house...They use to close their shows with it and it would be bonkers....
I’d like to request Bob Seger, Rambling Gambling Man. These great songs must live forever. Greatest period in music bar none. So glad i was born in 1967. Love your discoveries, here for the journey. Rock On!! ❤
My Dad was building a school out in the Pleasanton , CA area and these guys were practicing across the road in a warehouse. He come home and told us at dinner and my older brother flipped his top, then proceeded to go to work with Dad first opportunity. The Bay Area in those days was loaded with so many fabulous musicians - sweet memories
John Fogerty is touring with his two sons. We saw him at Tanglewood recently and it was Creedence Clearwater all night. He played the hell out of their songs, way beyond what he does on the original albums. If his tour comes to your city Keep on Chooglin and don't miss it!
I got to see CCR in Lincoln, Nebraska in the early 70's. I was with another couple and i had a blind date. My date seen some friends an was gone the whole concert. Wrost date ever but great concert. B.B. King was their opening act.
Or perhaps he grew up not listening to this genre in his home growing up or on the radio because he never tuned the radio to rock. He is also a rap fan so why would you know this kind of music. I always crack up when people say things like, I can't believe you have never heard of this song before or have you been under a rock all your life? People got to get real
CCR had at least *20 hits* in the space of about 3 short years... just unreal. And two of them (Born on the Bayou and the classic Midnight Special) aren't even on "Chronicle - The 20 Greatest Hits" (the album cover in your video), they saved those for "Chronicle part 2"!
You have to see the genius scene in Apocalypse Now of a USO performance for American troops in Vietnam including scantily dressed women dancing to Suzie Q. The sheer incongruity and power behind a nation that can parachute an entire stage production into the heart of the Vietnamese jungle feels hair raisingly sinister. The music choice is somehow perfect.
I grew up listwning and loving CCR but everytime i hear susie q now the image of the USO show in Apocalypse Now comes into my head. Coppola nailed it in my opinion.
My first introduction to CCR was hearing Susie Q on the radio. Commercial radio had just started to play longer cuts & Susie Q was just great to listen to for those extended minutes. Then Born on the Bayou was released & it was even better...
They put out 7 albums in 4 years, '68 - '72, and then they were done. And a ton of great songs packed into that 4 years. They have a 20 greatest hits album and they're all truly great hits, no skips, 20 greatest hits in a 4 year span.
My FAVORITE CCR tune!! Thanks so much for the review! Great voice quality and guitar work.... For more great guitar work, try "Heard it Thru the Grapevine" the extended version.. You won't be disappointed! Peace
My daughter is a Suzie. Short for Susan. Probably influenced my name decision. And shes a beauty. Her middle name is named after a song.too. i loved this song. Loved all ccr.
I heard this song a lot from older brothers when I was 8/9 years old. Somehow this song is one of my favorite CCR tracks. Check out the long version from the Creedence Clearwater Revival album, it has a great extended section that was missing here.❤
Old gal named Suzie, here. This brought back memories of a young football player singing this to me long ago. Thank you! ps: Listen to I Put A Spell On You and Fortunate Son. Everything they've done was true Rock Classics.
Despite the southern swampy sound that they channel on a lot of their tracks, Creedence were actually California boys. There's a really nice documentary about them on Netflix (CCR at the Royal Albert Hall, full of flashbacks and narratives). I was amazed to learn that Fogerty didn't really play guitar until shortly before the band got together and put out their first album. The lack of standard training worked out pretty well, he invented lots of incredible riffs.
Second concert I ever went to was Creedence Clearwater Revival at the Midsouth Coliseum in Memphis when I was 11 years old. Still not sure exactly how my parents let me go. 🤣 Yeah, Creedence had that southern thang going for a bunch of Northern California boys. Give a listen to Effigy sometime. Not a single, but badass. And keep listening to the hits too!
This is a (dare I say) singular and unique band. They always sound like them, but no two songs are the same. I think they will continue to surprise you, Polo. Try "Who'll Stop the Rain" or "Fortunate Son". This song is their only hit that John Fogerty didn't write; this was a cover (originally done in 1957). Creedence' did it 11 years later.
CCR is my go to band regardless of my mood. Their grooves just get you feeling right. Listen to “Born on the Bayou” and their version of “I Put a Spell on You”. They are chef’s kiss 🤌🏼
Thanks for watching. Most of my requests come from here and I also read the comments below. If you want to support the show you can do that here www.patreon.com/poloreacts or show your love for the channel by buying me a coffee using this link www.buymeacoffee.com/poloreacts
Apocalypse Now
Believe it or not... CCR were NOT from the south. They were from CALIFORNIA !!
MARILYN MANSON! React to him! Dope Hat, The Dope Show, Sweet Dreams...
CCR didn't know HOW to make a bad song. Trust us, (all of the commentors), when we say that being you've loved the two Creedence songs that you've heard thus far, you'll probably love them all.
Absolutely!🤙
CCR wrote at least 30 of your new favorite songs
@@ZacCostilla They didn't write Suzie Q, they just recorded the hottest version of it.
@@rosevfx I know that. It was originally a Dale Hawkins song. But their version is the definitive version, for sure.
I'm not a fan if CCR at all. Hated Fogerty. The tribute band with actual members is pretty darned good, tho.
The irony of this southern Mississippi sound is that they're all from California. React to "Run Through The Jungle" or "Lodi" next, please. You'll love any CCR song you listen to. Thanks, Polo. May GOD bless you and yours!
I hear California
Yep they really captured the vibe
my mind exploded when I found out that they were from Califorina. Im still not entirely sure I believe it.
And they rocked Woodstock, too!
@@richardbrown7239 From the Bay Area area yet
“Born on the bayou” is a must…
👍🏻
I'm so very grateful to have grown up with all of the amazing talent we had in the 60s and 70s.
A BIG FAT YES TO THAT!! : )
Agreed x3
Saw John Fogerty 2 weeks ago. Playing gigs for over 60 years and the man still has it!
lucky you 🤗
So jealous! Where did you see him?
@@maryrosekent8223 in NJ. He is touring with George Thorogood this summer.
@@southjersey7693 Yes! We saw him and George at Tanglewood in Lenox MA about a week ago. Great show
Seeing John was one of the best concerts I ever went to. Wish I could have seen him with CCR.
I love how you find great songs by artists that no other reactors are doing, yet they still are great songs and showcase the bands well. Thanks for doing what you do.
"I put a spell on you " is your type of jam 🤘
Another banger by them
when Polo gets the "stank face", you Know it's Good! Keep On Brother!
😄👍👍
And you thought Led Zeppelin was a rabbit hole; John Fogerty is still performing today! 55 years and counting. His catalog is enormous. Lead guitar and Vocals in CCR. Songwriters HOF. Rock & Roll HOF.
You just took this 68 year old gramma back to her youth! Thank you! It makes these old bones hurt less after I got up and danced!
John Fogarty was a California guy. Amazing how he and the band developed such a Southern style of music
Thought it was the Bayou country they were from.
I think he's on a tour. Next stop, Ohio.
@@scottzappa9314
They’re from the East Bay Area.
@@maryrosekent8223 Thank you
Fogerty......
CCR has so many great songs, Fortunate Son, Have You Ever Seen the Rain, Run Through the Jungle, just so many great songs
_Born on the Bayou_ is my fave, but _Run Through the Jungle_ is a very close second.
Have you ever seen the rain is definitely one that a lot of reactors react to and each and every one of them likes it such easy listening music
Born on the Bayou, Lookin out my back door, down on the corner, run through the jungle, proud mary...
This was the shortened version , you will really like the long version with the extra long guitar solo
Fortunate Son!! Great song by CCR
I was introduced to CCR when my brother came home from Vietnam. He used to stay in his room for hours with CCR cranked up. I was thirteen at the time and found that I liked them, too. My favorite group before CCR was The Monkees!!
Not sure if you've reacted to their rendition of "Put A Spell On You" but it is absolutely hypnotic. Blows the original out of the water IMHO
Annie Lenox has also recorded _I Put a Spell on You,_ and it’s absolutely spellbinding!
One of the greatest American bands ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
No one hit wonder for sure.
Keep going with CCR.
They are legendary.
Polo, Creedence is pretty much universally beloved. No reason to feel odd if you enjoy it!
Another killer song by CCR is "Fortunate Son."
My favourite.
Saw them open for Steppenwolf my first time at the Fillmore, June 1968 and they did this. As a Susie, I've always loved this version. LOVE CCR! ❤
So you probably actually meant to say “…a venue might easily [not] have a sound system.”
@maryrosekent8223 yep. That's what I meant. I was just thinking, the Beatles used a megaphone in part of Windchester Cathedral too.
@@sweisbrod6109Beatles? Not hardly!
First CCR tune I ever heard at age 12. Turned 68 two days ago. Love this more with every year. 😎

Linda Carter of wonder woman fame
I remember 54 years ago putting this on Mom and Dad’s stereo and just rocking! Also Green River!
I'd bet every Vietnam movie ever made, has a CCR track.
Apocalypse Now has this one…
True
CCR is AWESOME. Check out "Bad Moon Rising" - that's one of there several All Timers
Check out the long version of "I Heard it Through the Grapevine"... it is epic.
"Run Through the Jungle" is another superb C.C.R. tune.
3 number 1 albums in 1969 .
🎧 I never listened to this song with headphones before now. That bassline is Killer! 🎸
Such a late 1960s sound. This song is 56 years old. CCR's music is generally simple but fun. They are never super technical like Rush or Led Zeppelin, it's more the feel of their songs.
Love "Suzy Q" Named my Panhead "Suzie Q" The best........ Creedence was awesome at Woodstock "69" Peace out........
Wow! You have a panhead - ride on, sista!
'Keep on Chooglin' LIVE at Woodstock
Then early album song 'Long as I Can See the Light'
You'll Love Both!!
My fav. CCR song, so many parties we would play it around midnight and blow the roof of the house...They use to close their shows with it and it would be bonkers....
Great tune. Throw in Pagan Baby, too!
Saw CCR at Woodstock. They absolutely killed I Put a Spell on You!
Amazing!
He has that voice AND plays one of the nastiest guitars in rock & roll history.
Everything they did was amazing and the voice of john fogherty was incredible
Saw them in 1973 that concert still rings in my brain oh ya
Long as I can see the light is my fav CCR definitely add it to the list!😎🍻✌️🖖
My fave as well!
So many memories attached to this band and album.
This is off their first album........and they just keep getting better and better

I read or saw an interview with John where he said he focused on the sound of the words rather than correct pronunciation. “Tawk”💜💜💜
You are just getting started.Dive deeper. You won't be disappointed
7:17. This song was written in 1957 by 3 southern musicians. It was inspired by Susan Lewis, the daughter of a record label owner.
John Fogerty is a awesome singer and guitar player, he and his kids all play in a band together and they play his songs and they sound great
Best free concert ever seen at Spokane Fair grounds early 90s was so loud the legs of my jeans were vibrating ❤ ✌️ Polo...
CCR is California thru and thru! 😁 You MUST listen to more CCR. Fortunate Son, Green River, The Midnight Special, and many more!

OMG! 6th grade played this with my friend on a small record player over and over and over. Great memories associated with this song
Long As I Can See the Light. Incredible soulful vocals by John Fogerty. He also played electric piano as well as a tenor sax solo.
One of my all time favorites! The song and the band. Lov’m
HOW can a man not have heard this song before? Not only is on the radio every once in a while, it is also in countless movies.
Perhaps those things aren’t a major part of his life.
Or perhaps he grew up not listening to this genre in his home growing up or on the radio because he never tuned the radio to rock. He is also a rap fan so why would you know this kind of music. On classic rock stations, maybe.
Love CCR! One of my favs! Born in ' 65. Had the best music of all time growing up.
