True story...back in the 80s one of the big metal bands was coming to Tucson, and the warm up band was Twisted Sister. The city council thought Twisted sister was too raunchy and was going to cancel the show. The promoters offered another warm up band and the city agreed. We got to see W.A.S.P instead.
Have seen them 2 times with the current lineup. AMAZING. Have seen Chris Holmes with his own band Mean man. AMAZING that to. 🤗.Blackie and Chris have such great stage presence .☺
I was lucky enough to meet WASP back in the early 90s at Virgin Records in London. They signed my copy of The Crimson Idol, and then I got to see them play at the Monsters of Rock concert at Castle Donington the next day.
I met Blackie , once. I bought him a 6pack of corona(his favorite) gave it to him while he was standing in the tour bus doorway, he signed a guitar and then he looked at me presenting the beer and asked "Is that for me?" . I said "hell ya, in exchange for that handshake" . He obliged. 😁 WASP is no doubt...one of the baddest bands to see. \m/
Here's something different you may never have heard of, a Japanese band called "Loudness" and their song " Crazy Nights". When I was in high school I bought tickets to see Wasp, Krokus and Loudness. The event was to be held in a small venue that seated about 2000 people, still the show was cancelled due to lack of ticket sales, lol. I was so upset.
This is quickly becoming one of my favourite channels. You guys are so genuine and engaging, and you’re reacting to songs I really love. Rich is head banging and fist pumping at all the points I am, it’s really like getting to share this awesome music 🙂

I first heard this on their live album "Live in the raw." I remember how much trouble they had with the pmrc. A group trying to destroy metal.at the beginning of the parental ibvisory labels. I remember getting buddies to buy some tapes that you had to be 18 to purchase. This was one of those. Crazy stuff

I´ve heard them for about 30 years and still do sometimes :D Here is a little trivia about the W.A.S.P. name if you don´t already know : "The letters in the name W.A.S.P. don't really mean anything. Blackie Lawless himself has noted that the dots between letters were a genius idea of his - to let people figure the name out for themselves. Some people believe the initials of W.A.S.P. stand for "We Are Sexual Perverts" or "We Are Satan's People" or "White Anglo Saxon Protestants" or even "We Are Satan's Preachers". "We Are Sexual Perverts" is inscribed on their first album into the vinyl next to the label. When asked, Blackie normally doesn't give a straight answer. In one interview, he answered "We Ain't Sure, Pal" LOL :D :D So it´s anybodys pick :) P.S. The video was lagging on my end, so maybe not all technical issues are sorted quite yet :/
You gotta do the entire album #WASP The Crimson Idol. It's a concept album, a story from beginning to end. Definitely the most epic and ambitious album Wasp has ever put out. It showcases what a genius songwriter Blackie Lawless is :)
Agreed. For me it's a very close second to Operation:Mindcrime by Queensryche in terms of concept albums. I also think people overlook The Neon God 1 The Rise and 2 The Demise. Not as good but for me still an incredible listen from beginning to end.

her eyes when he said it first time...man, you got a bomb right there. and what's with all the same old songs of the same era and albums being suggested, is everyone's forgetting their maters piece "headless children"? super "the real me" cover, and masterpiece song inside masterpiece album "the heretic", anyone? or later on with the hidden gems "no way out of here" and "the invisible boy"? people's taste for the "big hits are never the best songs" is baffling (example: fear of the dark vs the prisoner). no one goes against the grain, everyone's just follows the crowd, and the crowd is rarely right.

Brings back a memory of bringing home an album and playing it loud on our home console stereo while my mom was in the kitchen cooking. All was going fine until the last track started innocently with “You’re breaking my heart, you’re tearing it apart, so fuck you”. I levitated with warp speed to get to the tone arm and almost broke it off. Mom never admitted she ever heard it. Never brought home another Harry Nilsson album again.

This was really their "Bad ass Rock'n'Roll"-Time. With raw meat and blood on stage. Musically not their best era, but rude and pure.
