Well said young man 👍... Perfect is not in my vocabulary LOL I'm a middle aged misfit trying to survive in the 21st century. Who has a lawn that is a little better than what I started with. I enjoy lawn care but I know I'll never be perfect at it. Have a great super bowl Sunday.
Thank ya, sir. I totally get ya 👊👊Something that is supposed to help us relieve stress and temporarily disconnect from the chaos of the world shouldn't end up adding to our problems. Appreciate you watching and your insight as always. Enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday as well!
Since finding your channel, you have made me a total believer in Spectracide weed stop. For years was wasting money on those brands you can't get at big box stores,Spectracide for the money and it's useful effectiveness is a no brainer. I totally enjoy your lawn videos as you make it simple n easy to understand. 😊
Really appreciate that. Happy to hear it. Glad you're finding helpful info here. Makes creating the videos all worth it. Thanks for the support. Have a great day!
Solid advice as always! I am going back to split apps and switched up to dithiopyr since I have had huge problems with lespedeza not crabgrass. Need to get my first spring app down soon but ground is saturated and have to be flexible! Happy Super Bowl Sunday 👊👊
Can’t wait!!! We had that warm spell after all that nasty weather and all I wanted to do was work in the yard. Still a bit early but I’m already fired up 😂
You know what…. last year I said screw it and used no PE. Did I have some weeds? Yes but it was ok. This year I will apply just to see the difference. ❤
I just sent Tru Green to your favorite neighbors' house 😂 they are ruthless. Yea, man, i do the same thing at my house blow and mow/vacuum all the crap up and put the granular prodiamine down and hopefully soil temperature is 55 or above up here in MI when its put down.
Still a little cold up here, soil temp about 32 so we have a little while to go still. Still have leaves hanging from lower section of the oak trees to deal with and a lot of sticks and branches. Great video as always Travis - go 49ers!
Yup. Im still in the process of doing a "pre"scalp because old homeowners left the bermuda about 3" tall and its 20k sq ft lol, need it a tad lower before i can get my pre-emergent down. Ill also be waiting on rain as well.
Nice!! just had my first mow on Super Sunday and cut some palms down as well!! Felt good!! Going to put some preemergent down Tuesday!! LOL Great video as always Travis!!!
Similar here, had snows and soon after, 50s and 60s ... and I completely forgot about pre-emergent. It'll have to be next weekend. I don't even care about rain. It can sit there on dry grass for all I care until it DOES rain. Or I may apply on wet grass; it'll still dissolve. Spectracide Weed Stop For Lawns Plus Crabgrass Preventer is cheap enough that it need not be perfect. I do have to travel to get it however, about 40 minutes each way and that weekends only. Last year was the first I ever paid attention to the lawn. This Winter when the Bermuda went to sleep I finally realized what I had: Large random chunks are not Bermuda, the rest is. I was tempted to see how I might get rid of the non-Bermuda. Maybe next Winter.
You’re welcome. Appreciate you👊. It has gotten rather mild but still too soon to start planting. My last frost or freeze is usually sometime in mid April so I’ll be waiting until around then to start planting. Hugo has been MIA since fall. Heard some coyotes going crazy on something back there last week. 🤔🤔😂😂 thanks as always, my friend.
I just built a house in Bluffton, SC. They laid sod but we got freezing Temps less than a week after for a few days. Do you think I should fertilize now that the weather it getting warmer?
I swapped over to Prodiamine 65 WDG because it's actually 1/30th the price of buying the specticle bags if you can handle the 90$ upfront cost for a 5lb jug. I know that's not your style though, never seen Prodiamine at a walmart or home depot or lowes so I get what you do.
I'm a little late. But it's been cold up and down here. 40s one day and 60s the next. I just scraped my yard with a rake and cleaned up and just dropped barricade. It's gonna be a down pour tonight and tomorrow.
I’m a new homeowner with Bermuda. Don’t think any weed preventer was done in the fall as I’ve got weeds popping up and my neighbors yard is spotless. Should I be putting down pre-emergent or go with something different for the existing weeds? I’m in eastern NC
Congrats on the home. I don’t get too concerned with weeds this time of year. If they’re not completely overtaking the yard, you could go ahead and apply pre emergent and spot treat existing ones when the weather is warm enough. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
Im across the border in NE Oklahoma. Battle crabgrass every year. Question - there are lawn companies (not the bog ones) here that go around spraying a pre emergent on lawns. Do you thing they're using the same chemical in a liquid format ? Thanks brother, great channel
I moved into a new house and new lawn and I’m having the issue of having bare spots in the grass. Should I put down preemergent now to stop weeds, or should I let them bare spots grow in and then do post emergent treatment for the weeds?
Bermuda grass? If so, I’d mow, water, and fertilize and push it hard to fill in. If needed, I’d use post emergent this year and wait till fall for pre emergent.
In transition zone and interested in this product as both pre and post emergents. We are expecting rain starting early Monday morning. The lawn will be mowed sometime today or tomorrow. Should we apply on Sun morning when the lawn is wet from morning dew and wait to let the early Monday morning rain to water it in, less than 24 hrs after application, or should we water it in immediately after putting it down? Please help. New subscriber! Tia.
It needs to be applied to damp or dewy grass and not be watered or disturbed for at least 24 hours for post emergent control. So your timeline is cutting it close to rain with an application on Sunday morning. Only water in immediately if using as a pre emergent. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching and subscribing.
Wow, thanks for the quick reply. Follow-up questions: since we have some weeds in the lawn, is it too late to use as a pre-emergent? If so, using as a post emergent will require no rain within 24hrs after application, right? Tia
@@bettyjean-do8cy No, it's not too late for a pre-emergent. Some weeds may have already popped through, but it will help prevent others. For post-emergent, yes, you don't want it to rain within 24 hours after applying.
Hello. I like your channel. I have not done any pre emerge or fertilezer for a year. I am having some problems with chikweed, dandelions, and bare spots. What can I do at this time? I"m late for some treatment? Thank you.
Good morning. Thank you for your response. I live in Maryland, zone 8a/b, my zip code is 21060. The house is about 5 years old, I'm not completely sure about the grass, but I think is tall fescue.
You need to decide if you're going to try to seed your bare areas this spring. Most folks prefer fall for seeding cool season grass. It's not too late to apply pre emergent. You may be too late for some weeds that have already germinated, but you can stop others. You can also spot treat your trouble areas with a weed killer. Mowing a lot will help control weeds as well. Hope this helps.
Really just depends on where you're at and what your long range forecast looks like. Lots of variables at play, but as I said in the video, there's never really a bad time. Only real bad times are when seeding, sodding, or just flat out needlessly overapplying. We want to be responsible with our use. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
How do you manage putting the spectracide (has 2,4 D) down with your dogs going in the yard. Apply to front and back yard a week apart or just water it in and call it good?
Been pretty darn mild over the last week or so. The henbit is popping up here as well. Don't sweat it. That stuff will be gone when the heat gets here anyway. Thanks so much for watching.
@budgetlawns Went to buy the spectrum and it’s illegal to use in Texas. I did find Preen at Sam’s club. Is it a waste of money or is going to work? Feeling a little lost 😞
Preen is used in flower beds usually. See if you can buy the Lesco 0-0-7 at the big box store. That would be my next choice besides Spectracide. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching.
I was super frustrated because I scheduled my pre emergent in January around some rain and most of it got washed away because it rained a lot longer and more than what was forecasted! So wasted time and product. 😔
I bet it's not as bad as you think. I've applied before and the same thing happened. I still saw good results from the product though. You won't really know until the time weeds should be coming up unless you're already seeing massive breakthrough. Thanks for watching. Don't sweat it.
I’ve got some clover coming up pretty good and a little wild onion. I just hand picked them out bc that’s what kind of person I am. 😊I thought about putting a small app down to hold me over this weekend before the rain but March will be here before we know it! Lol
@@deegupton I've got some clover and wild onion too. Most likely from my September app wearing off. The clover is easy to kill with a post emergent. Keep up the good work. Sounds like you're thinking in the right direction.
