I got this for Christmas of 1990. The control pad was atrocious enough that the (few) games where the turbo buttons were helpful didn’t offset it. Traded it to a friend within a couple months
Geez, this is going back nearly 30 years lol. It was for an nes game but I can’t remember which one. I’m thinking it was either Knight Rider or Jaws. Both terrible games haha
That's actually really interesting. I never knew that the whole D-Pad/Stick section depressed like that. I legit thought it was just sort of a stick that used a membrane underneath, with four inputs corresponding with the usual d-pad directions. Definitely wouldn't want to use it for most games, but it's a shame that the NES doesn't have any arcade fighter era games, because it could be decent for special move inputs. Unlike a normal analog stick, it's flatter, and has digital inputs. So it would have the smooth action of a stick, but the binary inputs of a d-pad. Presumably that would make things like quarter circles easier to do like a real analog stick, but not as inaccurate as a real analog stick.
That's always the conundrum I find with fighting games. Stuff like quarter circles feel less accurate on a d-pad, but I find that general movement is less accurate with an analog stick. I hadn't thought of the cycloid pad as a sort of happy medium between the two. There actually IS one official arcade fighter I know of for the NES. TMNT Tournament Fighters is actually a pretty competent fighting game for the system, but a physical cartridge of the game is ridiculously expensive. Like, $100+ kinds of expensive. Worth checking out next time ya boot up an NES emulator though, hah.
Probably my favorite video game controller of all time. I miss having controllers with turbo buttons. Can't have them now unless you mod one yourself or order a modded one for $400; which are banned from use in multiplayer games, and getting caught using one will get your accound banned.
I know you mention the notification bell, but nobody can actually tick it or anything. Apparently because this channel is marked as making content for children, it doesn’t allow for that bell. Just saying it cos it would be great to be able to tick it.
Blok Head's Reviews Yeah for some reason it says that whenever I touch it, and the bell itself also has a big line crossed through it and is greyed out. It’s definitely not the account I’m using because I can tick the bell on other channels. Did you upload any videos that were labelled as content for children? I suppose that could explain it.
dinosaursrule236 I just went back and manually marked all of my videos as “not meant for children.” I tested it with a personal account and the notification bell should be an option now.
Was originally promoted for use with ice hockey, which actually played better with the max.
I'm sad this guy hasn't made any new videos, he was a funny up&coming channel
I bought one for my collection expecting the "joystick" to be terrible to play with. Guess what! It is.

Yeah, the control pad is definitely a "make it or break it" aspect. Out of curiosity, what did you trade the controller for?

Btw keep up the good work. I like your style of video. I’m new to creating on here as well and it’s hard to get that launch. But just keep it going!
Not even a good game eh? Shame, hah. Thanks for the support man!

@@blokheadsreviews679 Ewwww, Ninja Turtles? Grooooooossssss :P
I have three of these things to get fixed and at least working okay. Second hand store find NES with 6 controller's and a 4 way adapter. 😁

4:56 you can just hold it down and move it around rather than pressing the dpad
It’s “cycloid”, not “cyclone”. There’s a TV advertisement for it on UA-cam that says this.
Very well done and funny. Great job.
Thank you!
welcome back
Thanks! Glad to be back.
The red pixel throughout the video drives me nuts 😅
Does it work on pal console ?
Yes.
Why is it yellow
It's 35 years old. 😂

It is? I have the setting set as "I don't make content for kids" as the default for my channel. Man this website is just messed up sometimes...

Blok Head's Reviews Yeah its working now :)
Dont matter cuz he never made another video 😔
Don't appreciate the false advertising >.> Head isn't Blocky enough. 2/10.
Dang, now the FTC's on my tail.
Glad to see garbage review channels understanding when they are crap and stop making videos
