all my friends are mocking this car for being a kia ,for costing more than a scirocco,for the fact that it is slow while it gives 201 hp....still am saving my money to buy this car and i don't care with all the bs shits out there.end of the day this car is sexy for me.

In my country this costed at least $20k less than a sirocco.
Had my GT now since April 14 here in Australia and loving it! Car is very solid and drives very well.
Australian cars have received handling tweaks over the European and UK cars. Aussie bound cars have thicker rear anti-sway bars, re calibrated steering inputs and different dampers which are a step up from their Euro cousins. NZ bound cars no doubt see the same settings as those in Australia.
Australia and NZ are the only countries outside the EU which is a magnificent accomplishment for KMAu in getting these cars here.
I am absolutely loving mine. The quality and build of this car is outstanding and the handling is something else. The GT is getting a big thumbs up through the local motoring press.
I am about to drive mine Perth-Melbourne-Perth, a distance of 7000km....I know I will enjoy every bit of the drive. Love this little car...
I'm in Melbourne and recently bought one. Overall satisfied. Have you driven the Golf GTI? The motoring press craps on like its literally the best car in the world.

Kia is no longer a massive piece of shit, people need to have some faith I for one is going to buy this car simply because it's awesome and thats coming from someone who has owned a ST and GTI The insurance is cheap and also good on the fuel and still fun to drive so KIA carry on the good work.

I never thought I'd buy a Kia, but Kia have changed and really improved in all areas. If I were to buy any new car now, it would be this Pro Cee'd GT model. Killer looks, decent performance, decent handling, good price, and a 7 year warranty.

I've had a test drive in one, the instrument cluster options are pretty cool, one thing I don't like is the electric power steering as you said, but the model I tried is you can change the weight of the steering, you can go from light (one finger) to a bit heavier. The model I tested also had an air conditioned glovebox too :P

Have to honest, Never really liked KIA but this, well it looks absolutely fantastic, specially in white. And to be honest 200Bhp is more then enough on day to day use imo. hell, im getting 136 bhp on a 1045 kg Swift sport, and thats more then enough to get you going. . .

The Kia also has steering modes that can stiffen and loosen the steering also.
they don't sell the cee'd in the US however we get the turbo Optima

i found the 150hp 1.6 turbo in the 22 plate sportage with auto box really quick on kick down, so this GT should be a beast in comparison. doesnt need to be a hot hatch, it has 200hp like a lot of sporty hatchbacks, so it wil be in the same league. they also look less boy racer

If you’re thinking of buying of these here’s some points to consider. I have come from a fiesta st which I had mountuned to 215 bhp. But ofcourse I drove my st when it had the Norma 182 bhp (200 with overboost)
Here’s some key differences I noticed.
Fiesta st had more low end torque
Fiesta st was more fun to drive
Fiesta st inside cabin was noisy
Fiesta st feels cheaply made (plastics inside)
Now for Kia Gt
Slower to pick up than the St but certainly not slow
Better interior and more Gadgets as standard such as ( heated seats, climate control and heating steering wheel)
Less road noise for the Kia
Bumps and potholes (in the uk a lot more forgiving in the Kia Gt)
Steering feels good but not pin point sharp as In the St.
My conclusion is you shouldn’t be put off buying the Kia just because it lacks a bit of punch lower in the rev range. It still picks up very well and is fun to drive.
I’m not unhappy I switched from my fiesta st to the Kia Gt.
Totally agree with everything. I bought my Kia proceed first edition 5ish years ago, And I tested the ST at the same time. I wanted a daylie so I went for the kia

Why Hyundai-Kia decided to offer the VT rather than this in the US is beyond me...The car looks more attractive in both interior and exterior and it looks so much meaner/aggressive than the VT.
Like this car so much. But unfortunately it's not available in Australia because of the poor market reactions. I still don't understand why Australians don't like this. I had to choose Kia cerato koup instead. But I 100% would prefer pro ceed if I had a choice...

For anyone in the US who is interested in this car, the Forte 5 SX and Koup are very similar mechanically outside of the rear setup.
+J Michael Barrett Its actually massively different. No IRS, slightly different gear ratios, slightly different tune on the engine (because US regular fuel is like paraffin), much heavier and softer suspension. The closest equivalent to this car from Kia Hyundai would be the Voloster Turbo R-Spec, and even then you lack the IRS.
No, outside of the body and IRS it's the exact same powertrain with the same ratios. The tune may vary a little bit because of the differences in gas but the wheel output is very similar. Both ECU's (15+) are similar to the R-Spec Velosters. Weight wise the PGT is 3000lbs, the koup weights less than that and the base model F5 SX is slightly more. Not a huge difference. All in all, the only "True" difference is the IRS.

1st gear on a Veloster R-Spec is 3.615:1
Pro_Cee'd GT is 3.308
Just to show one example without listing every gear.
Final gear is the same, but all other ratios are different.
Kerb weight of the PGT is 2945lbs
Forte SX Turbo is 2964lbs
So thats closer than expected, probably due to the IRS in the Cee'd.
They are massively different cars despite platform sharing.
That's pretty stout in my books, well done on kia's behalf for turning out something which not only looks sweet but handles, stops and goes well on such a budget buy. Next option should have the 2 liter turbo with an automatic and five door, now that will have a better chance of selling in places like Australia and other countries where most just buy on practicality and ease of use.
+Ihaveabigbrownbear Five door already exists (Cee'd GT), and they have actually just updated the car for 2015 with a bigger Turbo, bigger brakes and even better suspension. No entry level model now, however, the Tech is now the only trim level but its still massively good value.
To be honest I like it. It's a good little hot hatch.

What's the difference between bhp and hp? Why do the British say 0-62?
Horsepower is an old measurement of work done by a horse over a give amount of distance, Brake-horsepower is measured at the flywheel so after subtracting drag from the gearbox and the drivetrain it will be a smaller figure at the wheels. Tbh as far as I know they're both pretty much the same.
Also 62mph is 100kmh so it's easier to convert from imperial to metric. Most British people quote 0-60 though.

I'm getting 25-30 mpg city driving and 35-40 on motorway. If I am booting it around city then definitely low 20s.

Muscle has the power but it has the weight too. Power is pretty pointless when you can get a smaller car that is faster and more agile. Plus better gas mileage. Horsepower is just a number by itself

Kind of. You can get a 2015 Kia Forte 5 with the same 1.6L 201HP turbo engine with a 6-speed manual for around $20k. Keep in mind that sadly, we don't get the independent rear suspension here in the states like the Pro_Cee'd but yes, you can kind of get this car in the states :)
a fiesta st is a better car, but I love how this is such a good all rounder
+Jack Wheatley But the Fiesta is much smaller. That matters I had a Swift Sport and then a Fiesta ST both outstanding cars, but now im sick of being a guy in a small car, I want something bigger. The Golf GTI, Focus ST etc are getting a bit silly near enough 25k-30k when you tick a few options. Cee'd GT seems to tick a lot of boxes for fun and usable everyday.

Lancelot Moore-Yorke Sadly, no. Two of the E's in Ceeed (hence the apostrophe to make it Cee'd) actually stand for "Europe". The only reason it managed to get an import to Australia was because Kia Australia pretty much begged and sacrificed a goat. Plus there is a genuine market there for a fast hatchback, unlike America where the majority of the populace would probably laugh at a $30,000+ hatchback from Kia.

Lancelot Moore-Yorke America's car market overall is pretty poor. Its because the general American attitude towards cars (that I've witnessed, please correct me if I'm wrong) is very "one track mind".
Like, an American will walk into a Chevrolet Dealership and buy a Camero because its a Camero and it has a V6. Europeans are more pragmatic - we'd (generally) look at that Camero and go "yes its a Camero, yes its a V6, but its dirt slow for the power output, extremely uneconomical, has a low quality interior, can barely hold two suitcases and refuses to turn around a corner properly without skidding off into a bush". Said European would then probables walk out and get a Peugeot RCZ-R instead or something :P
Its probables for those reasons that Chevrolet cancelled their plans to bring the Camero to Europe, and why Ford has given the 2015 Mustang a clearly European makeover and the more economical engine as standard (the EcoBoost) for this market.

Tom Hodgins V6 Camry pushing 196? Those never existed, I think you mean 192BHP. So you'll either have an XV20 or an XV30 with the 1MZ-FE engine.
If you have an XV30 AFTER 2003, it'll have 210bhp.
The 210bhp version of the XV30 has an official 0-60 time of about 7.4s, the same as this Kia, whilst also weighing about the same. I you have the 192 it takes just over 8s. If you want to get anywhere close to your 6.9s claim, you'd have to be driving a 3.3L V6 with 225bhp.

i have 235/45/17 tyres on the car which allow me to go full trottle off the line... where you can't do that standard....
Also my Camry is on LPG.. and with the way it is tuned it will rev out to 8000RPM!!
So it has 196hp from 5500RPM to 8000RPM.. it makes a difference...
