I had a white Pro Ceed GT from 2014 until 2018 and it never missed a beat. Absolutely loved it. Only upgraded because the I30N came out. I’m now in a A45 and I still look online for this car, checking the price etc. Can see myself picking one up again. 100%. Just a fantastic car. A real head turner actually.
It was the GT Tech. Standard trim and options was fantastic. Heated seats and steering wheel as well. And see just upgrading the infotainment to an Android touch screen (it possible) that’s basically the thing that brings the car back to looking reasonably modern again. As externally, it fits right in. The engine, 201bhp was nice and smooth power delivery. Lovely car.😢
I recently purchased a 2017 Pro_Cee'd GT w/ 47,000 miles on the clock here in the UK, safe to say it's the best car I've ever had and I'm still enjoying every mile. Power delivery, handling, comfort, safety and reliability have been excellent so far but it can get a bit thirsty. Very underrated, I only wish the newer models still had a manual gearbox but I guess that's where the Hyundai i30 N comes in.

I bought my wife one of these back in 2015, she loved it and never had any issues. I normally drive a Lexus LS430 but if I was working on the coast, which meant a drive down one of three mountain passes and return, I’d swap cars with her. Pure fun. We only sold it because we needed an SUV for our retirement plans. Fuel economy was around 7.5l on the highway, around 10 in town but could be worse if you got too excited. Seats were brilliant, fit and finish terrific and the handling/steering sublime. The looks, well everything is subjective but we thought it was stunning. Downsides, only the road noise, but then that’s probably an unfair comparison as I’m used to near silence. Mind you fresh tyres made a big improvement. My best memories of the car were two trips around Tassie, it seemed to be the perfect car for that environment.
Not close to retirement but I drive the North American cousin the Kia Forte5. We never got the 2 door version here but the Forte5 SX is very close to this in almost every facet. That's where the praises end. The gas mileage is horrendous with one reviewer saying it is as thirsty as a corvette.
An honest and underrated car that has a better build quality than the mentioned Focus, Fiesta, and Renault. We were lucky to get them in Australia despite being for a short term given the car was primarily pitched at the European market being built in Slovakia hence the indicator stalk being on the left of the steering column but everything else was on the correct side unlike a number of its rivals
This video help me decide on buying one. Just bought one a little over a month ago. Found an awesome deal for a 2014 GT Tech with less than 57k kms for less than 18k. Great drive and actually looks current in terms of styling.

I’ve owned Porsche , Commodore S and an Aero SAAB convertible and I think this is the best car by a mile. Thanks for this brilliant review. You guys seriously rock. Cheers Patrick H - BrisVegas.
Bought a GT Tech in Track Red in 2014, first one sold new in WA and we still have it. These were imported direct from Kia’s Slovakia plant in Europe and as such, they’re actually better built (IMO) than other Kia product out of Korea. The paint on the Proceed is actually standing up much better than the Stinger we also have, it seems thicker and more scratch resistant, the seat belts are thicker, the body uses thicker metal especially in the doors, and the trim is standing up incredibly well. It’s a daily driver too. It is serviced bang on time every 7500kms and has a complete service history from new. It’s done two trans-continental trips in comfort and we’ve fitted an aftermarket AVN that is integrated in the dash. It’s got genuine illuminated GT kick plates either side and all optional extras including European Kia genuine thicker floor mats. Handling is great and these love corners. Give it a good detail and it looks new…that proves the quality build. They’re great fun to drive and quite rare. Only a little over 700 were sold in Australia before the European tap was turned off. A few made it into NZ too. Great little car. The intention is to keep this one in the family. The only issue with the 1.6 litre turbo donk is the first gen direct injection. Give it a good throttle body service including valve train every now and again as the carbon build up can cause them to run a little rough at idle..do that and the idle settles again…and AK didn’t mention the digital dash…press the GT button and the speedo changes…Enjoyed your review…
@@jamesrodney8737 …ours still runs like a Swiss watch at nearly 190000km…every time it’s serviced, the dealer remarks on how well it’s kept and the overall excellent condition. Right up there with the Toyota brand I’d say…Great to hear you enjoy yours too.
I just purchased a 2014 model a month ago and so far I absolutely love it, such a fun little car. With the fuel economy numbers, I just did a 180km highway trip last week, it was a typical country road with a 100 limit, I was averaging 6.6L per 100, that was with a few hills and the odd overtake but otherwise sticking to the speed limit. Around town, I am so far averaging about 8.3L per 100. This is with 98ron fuel and a stock engine.
Bought one two years ago and had it Kia-tuned. It's definitely hot now (around 235 HP) and drives fantastic. Also very reliable and consumes around 8 liters per 100 km. It actually became more economical after tuning. This car is going to stay with me until it's very old. I absolutely recommend it!

Hello from a subscriber in the UK. If people think KIA are cheap and nasty cars then they need their heads examined. I would have one of these over any European rival. Great car and thanks for the review!
I second this. In 2010 I bought a 2008 Proceed CRDI with 15,000 miles .. fast forward to 2014 I handed the car back to the leasing company with 100,000 miles with nothing more than oil changes & tyres.
Thanks for your review. I test-drove a 2014 GT Tech through a dealer in Melbourne a few days ago and was so impressed that I bought it. I own a 2012 Kia Sorento, so I know Kias are generally very reliable and don't require as much maintenance as Europeans. Those red decals look good. I am trying to find those red decals but can't seem to find them anywhere.
Great video, Would you be able to share some information regarding the upgraded car play unit in this car as I'm not having much luck searching online.
These are awesome, really the biggest gripe I'd have with them is the name, why did they have to get cute and add underscores and apostrophes where they don't belong? I'd almost be embarrassed to tell someone I own a "Pro_cee'd".. just call it a Proceed. Just one request, under "what is it" please specify the engine and transmission options (or if too many, just the engine, or just the one of your demo model); you do mention it shares the engine and platform with the Veloster Turbo but you don't say what engine it is (I guess it's a 1.6T ? ) Thanks for the videos, this one goes on my shortlist for when my wife's March gives up the ghost..
This one is a 1.6L GDi direct injection twin scroll turbo engine making 150kw (201HP). 80% torque available at 1500rpm, it what makes it fun is the small peaky turbo. This only came in a short ratio six speed manual.
Sorry AJ I sold my Pro_ceed, I needed 4 doors - ah, life! Anyway I just wanted to comment on the carrying capacity of this car - with the rear seats folded down & the front passenger seat forward, I was able to carry a 4 foot fish tank, it's flat packed stand, a massive canister filter plus all the other junk you need for fish, heaters, bags of gravel etc etc.. unbelievable. Oh I'll miss that car 🥹
I just sold mine, very good car for the price, very well built in qualitywise. the power comes in first around 3800 rpm. the exhaust muffler can go. the coils can die permenantly. the sun roof is noisy at high speed over 170 km/h. the brake calipers of automatic parking breaks are faulty and tricky to rescrew the pins the right way after changing the pads. road noises are relatively high. driving at 120 km/h @ 6th speed, the engine runs 3000 rpm, too high.
I had a 2014 model in it's basic trim level. Nice to drive and looked good. Plenty of people were curious and asked me what it was as they had never seen anything like it. I sold mine as i personally didn't like the huge doors after some time and it was a pain to avoid dinging cars parked next to me. The fuel tank was too small for long distance driving and the rear blind spot was horrendous. Mine also had a rattle from the rear boot cover. The rubber stops on the hatch were there but still allowed movement of the cover over bumps. Not many of these around. Quite rare and you'll be lucky to spot one. Didn't sell many in Australia mostly due to the fact that it was a 6 speed manual and the unknown with Kia's radical new design by Peter Shreyer.
Hyundai and Kia are extremely popular here in the UK. Especially the Ceed, i30, i20, Sportage and Tucson. The Kona and Niro are also very common, European manufacturers have lost a lot of market share to the Koreans and it appears to be growing. Looking into the segment though, all European manufacturers even VW price themselves in the upper regions whilst Kia and Hyundai are still reasonable but competitive in terms of kit reliability and style. People are not stupid, manufacturers can only rest on their Laurels for so long, (looking at you Audi) and that good value for money will always win customers and market share not playing on heritage, image and marketing.
Was not expecting the Pro_cee'd to be today review car especially since it only just appeared on the underrated mod cars list you guys did. Out of curiosity who was doing the KPOP-esque vocals in the safety features overview? Did you manage to find the bird that was vocal bombing the takes by any chance or did it slip through your fingers? Good review guys and look forward to next week's batch of videos as per usual lol and have a safe weekend too 👍.
I was looking at one of these for a while then I realised how rare they are to find where I live (Tasmania). When I understood about them being super similar to the Veloster I looked into those too but now I've switched to a Mazda 3 SP25 as my top pick when the prices come down to a post-covid level. (2023 hopefully)

I am sorry, but I can't sell you one. But I had a 2017 Cerato Koup 1.6 Turbo automatic and I loved it. It is difficult to drive economically though, because it is quite sprightly (nine had the 152 kW engine) and very difficult to drive sedately.

@@qualityguacamole9142 I enjoyed the manual so much as s rental in Tasmania. Can't imagine the auto to be so enjoyable.
@@mvnorsel6354 i have driven an auto, its okay like a little cerato. A cerato is a good roundabout car same as the rio. Both current models. But with manuals, they will be better.
Always like the look of this on the road. Based on your video, I reckon you will also love Suzuki Swift Sport AZ or ZC33S with 1.4T engine. Weigh under a tonne, drive brilliantly, hot hatch pretending to be a warm hatch IMO. Hopefully you can review this car in few years time.
Looool looking tomorrow for a Fiesta ST, but this would also be pretty good.
Well I'm sold. I bought a 2014 in red. Pick it up in 2 weeks.
I'm so jealous! - AK
You guys have made the new format very smooth
Cheers!
Do i30 SR next. I just bought a 2018 model and I'm actually amazed at what you get for the money
I have had mine for six years love it
We do ❤
Did you do any tuning? How would you rate reliability? And how many km/miles did the machine do?
This car is gorgeous.
This is GORGEOUS and I hope you get to buy one🤞🤞🤞
I'm seriously considering Cee'd GT. It's basically the same car, but has 4 doors for better practicality.
Hello from a subscriber in the UK. If people think KIA are cheap and nasty cars then they need their heads examined. I would have one of these over any European rival. Great car and thanks for the review!
Only the north American market has massive quality control issues just like Hyundai.
I second this. In 2010 I bought a 2008 Proceed CRDI with 15,000 miles .. fast forward to 2014 I handed the car back to the leasing company with 100,000 miles with nothing more than oil changes & tyres.
I just wish Kia AU was brave enough to bring the current Proceed to Australia, which is now a shooting brake body. :(
Thanks for your review.
Google "renault megane decals" ;)
Great video, Would you be able to share some information regarding the upgraded car play unit in this car as I'm not having much luck searching online.
Snap
I never understood badge snobs who still tag on Hyundai and Kia. They're making amazing cars for the money these days and have been for a while now.
I have a dilemma between this and Megane 4 GT 1.6. Which one would you choose? Do you recommend any other warm hatch with ~200hp from 2016 or younger?
I just got kia proceed gt 2014 for my first car!
These are awesome, really the biggest gripe I'd have with them is the name, why did they have to get cute and add underscores and apostrophes where they don't belong? I'd almost be embarrassed to tell someone I own a "Pro_cee'd".. just call it a Proceed.
Just one request, under "what is it" please specify the engine and transmission options (or if too many, just the engine, or just the one of your demo model); you do mention it shares the engine and platform with the Veloster Turbo but you don't say what engine it is (I guess it's a 1.6T ? )
Thanks for the videos, this one goes on my shortlist for when my wife's March gives up the ghost..
Newer models have dropped the wacky name and are just called proceed now ☺️👌
I got the 2020 GT shooting brake style and I bloody love it 😄
@@hafentoffen2 oh that's great news, just the upgrade I was waiting for haha
This one is a 1.6L GDi direct injection twin scroll turbo engine making 150kw (201HP). 80% torque available at 1500rpm, it what makes it fun is the small peaky turbo. This only came in a short ratio six speed manual.
@@Asymmetry0 thanks! Sounds fun yeah.
What will this be like on fuel
Nice video, fellas! Love the K-pop references 😁 the Proceed looks like a nice budget performance car that is reliable.
There needs to be a compilation of all the bloopers :D
Sorry AJ I sold my Pro_ceed, I needed 4 doors - ah, life! Anyway I just wanted to comment on the carrying capacity of this car - with the rear seats folded down & the front passenger seat forward, I was able to carry a 4 foot fish tank, it's flat packed stand, a massive canister filter plus all the other junk you need for fish, heaters, bags of gravel etc etc.. unbelievable. Oh I'll miss that car 🥹
I just sold mine, very good car for the price, very well built in qualitywise.
the power comes in first around 3800 rpm.
the exhaust muffler can go.
the coils can die permenantly.
the sun roof is noisy at high speed over 170 km/h.
the brake calipers of automatic parking breaks are faulty and tricky to rescrew the pins the right way after changing the pads.
road noises are relatively high.
driving at 120 km/h @ 6th speed, the engine runs 3000 rpm, too high.
got the same 1, love it
I had a 2014 model in it's basic trim level.
Cheers mate!
It's definitely heaps better looking than the Hyundai equivalent, probably explains why there are not many available in the used car market
The equivalent would be the Veloster right?
I get mine tuesday 2014 i was in love after test drive 28k on clock
I was looking at one of these for a while then I realised how rare they are to find where I live (Tasmania). When I understood about them being super similar to the Veloster I looked into those too but now I've switched to a Mazda 3 SP25 as my top pick when the prices come down to a post-covid level. (2023 hopefully)
Loving the channel.
I had a seat Leon 2016 fr 1.4 tsi 150 cv and now I own the Kia gt 2015 and I have to say it’s much better and way better build no rattles in the interior like the seat a lot better suspension
I used to have a 1.8 fr, but now i am thinking to get a kia, do you have the same opinion? And about the fuel economy from seat to kia, also with he maintenance cost, are you happy?
I am sorry, but I can't sell you one. But I had a 2017 Cerato Koup 1.6 Turbo automatic and I loved it. It is difficult to drive economically though, because it is quite sprightly (nine had the 152 kW engine) and very difficult to drive sedately.
Good stage 1 like celtic tuning is 250bhp nd 400nm of tourque it really feels nice en its like a whole new car performance wise
Had my PCGT for nearly 6 years, 70,000 Km as a weekend car .
My wife has the Cerato GT which is faster off the mark in comparison now.
Yeah. Bit of a a KIA fanboi family
We have two. Rio sport and a Picanto GTline. We have had absolutely no dramas.
I have one and i love it
Wow, it really does look amazing. Very reminiscent of something Peugeot would come up with. We missed out on them in the US though.
No. Peugeot is yuck, dunno how you can compare that to the Proceed lol.
I have had one since new, purchased in 2014 here in Queensland. Absolutely love the car, and this was a great review! I am however unfortunately aware of a major engine issue which I have had to deal with in mine, currently being repaired and has been off the road for 4 months. Would be happy to give more info if the team at ReDriven would like it!
What was the issue
Please share your knowledge? P
Wish they would bring this to the states
Great review! Love these cars. Surprised they got a baby seat in there, how hard is it to get the kid in?
That’s a question for the owner, but we’ll get back to you!
I have one I owned it for 4 years now it's amazing car I love it I like the fact that there is not many on the street. Question mate do you think it might get up in price as there is not many? Thanks for the video
Tough question Karim. With everything going on in the world financially mixed with supply chain shortages, it’s really anyone’s guess. - AK
I LUV THESE VIDDSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!! so much consumer advice. pls pls do a cx7 review PLS PLS! ✌✌😍😍
Review a Kia Koup Turbo please :) I’m a father of 3 and we have a large MPV already.I’m deciding between the Proceed GT or Koup Turbo ….or a 2012 Is250
If we had this car over here I would 100% consider it... but we have a different shape which doesn't look as good as the hatch, so I went with a gt86 instead.
Amazing video
When are you going to review the Kia Optima?
What´s that fancy mat on the dashboard? I want that!
You know if you chiptune it like i am gonna do soon so it gets 240hp it transforms from a Spicy hatch to a hot+ hatch!! 😃
Such a bargain buy atm, few little mods such coilovers, exhaust, tune, lsd and you'll actually have a really cheap reliable hot hatch
Hey I'm looking to buy a Nissan Micra SR 2015 and would love to see a review. I'm not sure if it's reliable + I'm comparing it to a Chevy Spark (2015). Both reviews of those cars would be lovely honestly!
I know it’s not out for quite that long but is it worth buying a used i20N?
Where do you even find them used at this point already?
love your reviews on hot hatches 👍, would you review modified cars?
100% mate, check out our Evo review. - AK
Because Sydney traffic 😂. That made me laugh!
The BTS reference got the missus laughing bahaha Great video as always 👍🏼
I have a Kia proceed 2014 I have been told that they do have a transmission problems and I have found out that the hard way
What are the best head units to get for these that looks like the one in the video? I am getting a 2014 gt tech and love the look of a big head unit.
search "seicane ceed radio"
Only other negative i'd put on the list, is the resell value on these would be much lower than a Focus Rs/ST, Golf R or i30N. Hardly seen any of these on the roads here in Melb.
You're comparing a "spicy hatch" lol, to full blown hot hatches tho. Ofc the resell won't be as good.
I wish we got three door hatches in the US. The only one we get is the Hyundai Veloster N these days.
Please male a review of the Kia Koup Turbo
Nice car but heavy for what it is. 0-100 in 8 seconds, while Cerato GT does that in 6.7 seconds (and that car is 150kg lighter)
Hey AJ I have a mint 2014 Pro_ceed GT Tech that I would LOVE to sell to you… buuut - sorry mate - it’s just to good to let go of 🥺
