That was also the time when the Dodge Li'l Red Express truck was infamously the fastest American vehicle you could buy without police lights. Pretty tragic to have a Charger in the lineup when you're saying that.

Am much as some criticized this s197 body, it will never changed the fact that when this came out it changed everything , it started the retro craze that drove manufacturers like Chevrolet and dodge to jump on the bandwagon .

Showing their age, but OMG I love this mid 2000s musclecar era!!! Just from the design standpoint, they were such a perfect blend of retro and modern, and came at a great price!
$30k in 2004 is worth about $50k today, so honestly the price of the mustang has mostly kept up with inflation, since a base level v8 will only set you back $43k. It's nice to see Ford isn't price gouging at least.
One thing that I think got a little lost when he was like "Oh its not that fast and fancy" is that most of the old Mustangs weren't really that fast unless you modified them or paid for the really high end package.

These mustangs had American Tremec 5 speed manuals. Can’t believe ford switched to the Chinese MT82 after this gen and kept it all the way up to the current gen.
The humor, scenery and sight gags are the best part. Driving in a straight line and not much a detailed review makes this a bit dim. The S197 years become more desirable with each passing year. Ford designers got the retro look just right, much better than the retro T-bird. I really enjoy my 2011 convertible with 6-speed manual and don't give a hoot that it has a live rear axle. I did upgrade the Sync system to a modern LCD display with Android and backup camera, but I would never change the analog gauges. How fast is the car going, how fast is the engine turning. Classic. All I need to know.
Finally, the Mustang made a big comeback with an iconic new design after almost 3 decades of getting ruined. This was my introduction to the Mustang and muscle cars. It got me interested in cars for the first time in my life and instantly developed my taste in cars too.
