Thank you so much for reacting to this great tribute to a true legend. I grew up listening to his music. Glen Campbell was one of the most talented entertainers & guitarists in the world. This awful disease of Alzheimer's affects everyone from all walks of life. It robs people of their hopes & dignity. And it is even worse for the caregivers.
He had a lot of hits such as "Wichita Lineman", "By the Time I Get To Phoenix", "Gentle On My Mind", "Dreams Of The Everyday Housewife", "Galveston", "Try A Little Kindness", "Rhinestone Cowboy", "Southern Nights" etc.

Glenn was able to tour internationally for about 20 months using muscle memory to continue playing guitar, he was a virtuoso!

Glen is part of the soundtrack of my youth. Wichita Lineman, By the Time I Get to Phoenix, Galveston, Gentle on My Mind, Rhinestone Cowboy, MacArthur Park....sooo many hits. He and Jimmy Webb were an unbeatable combination.
I can't imagine how hard it was for him to write this. I think the early stages of Alz must the absolute hell - KONWING you are going to be losing everything you know. But they do say that music is one thing patients still retain.
OK - right now, while you are thinking about it - GO GET A BOX OF TISSUES!!! Or your subscribers will start mailing them to you.

Very sad, but a beautiful song. I am sure you guys must have heard some of Glen's music. A few of his hits...Rhinestone Cowboy...Wichita Lineman...Galveston...and tons more. And he was one helluva guitar player as well.

I grew up listening to Glen Campbell. He was an amazing musician-Jeremy, he played the William Tell Overture on guitar! My father had dementia and died from the effects of it, so this one hits home. You might like to check out Wichita Lineman, By the Time I Get to Phoenix, Gentle on My Mind, Galveston, and/or Southern Nights. He had one song that was kind of cringey, but he sang it well - Rhinestone Cowboy. He could also hold his own with the best guitarists of the era. Thanks, Jeremy and Jillian!

Yes some great songs by Glen. This my favorite song of Glen. My 2nd favorite Glen song is Southern Nights. I was stationed at Camp LeJeune when it was a hit. "I'm Not Goin Miss You"

Glen Campbell was a great guitarist and singer. He had his own TV show called the Glen Campbell Goodtime Hour. He was part of the famed session musician group known as The Wrecking Crew, who played behind everyone in them 60s and 70s. There is a documentary about the called The Wrecking Crew, they played behind Sinatra, The Carpenters, the early Monkees, they were world famous Los Angeles session men. Glen was a phenomenal guitar player and a great vocalist and had some great and timeless hits. He was even a Beach Boy for a while. This song made me bawl when it came out. Good reaction.

Thank you for reacting. Not only known for his Rhinestone Cowboy, Galveston, Southern Nights and many other songs on his own, Glen was an actor in the original True Grit with John Wayne, had his own TV variety show and played as a sought after session musician on hits by Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Beach Boys and the Righteous Brothers. I appreciate you!

Campbell’s many accomplishments as a singer songwriter are legendary in the music industry. As a guitarist who couldn’t read music he played on many great entertainer’s songs as a member of the wrecking crew! He also spent a short stint as a Beach Boy!

Glen was part of a group of musicians known as The Wrecking Crew. They appeared on 1,000s of songs as studio musicians. He played on Sinatra to Elvis to The Beach Boys to pretty much any big name you can think of from the 60s. He's one of the greatest guitarists ever. Check out his playing in live versions of Galveston or MacArthur Park. Simply amazing.

I remember thinking who would have thought Alzheimers would be a blessing, but when my best friend died at an early age from cancer her mother had already not recognized or remembered her for over a year so she would never be aware of and feel the loss of her child.

Wichita Lineman has to be one of my favorites. A seeming simple concept that lets you see the world through another's eyes with such clarity and pride. The strings used in the song send the electricity down the line. Masterful.

Alzheimer’s is a horrible horrible way to die. Lost my dad and father in law to this. It robs the person of everything. It broke the connections between my dad’s brain and body. He forgot how to walk, forgot how to chew eventually forgot how to breathe. Having said that, this song is an amazing tribute. Thank you J & J … much love and, ways ❤❤

I love that you guys did this. My dad would listen to old Glen Campbell stuff when we'd ride down the road in his GIGANTIC white Mercury, the longest car ever made, lol, you know, with the black seats that burned your butt when you sat down and seatbelts that probably melted your skin when it hit you. So this immediately brought back memories when I heard his voice again. I had not heard this one from him. It's too hard to finish. Alzheimer's is devastating and scary.

Some of my favorite GC songs: Galveston, Witchita Lineman, Rhinestone Cowboy. He was an amazing guitarist. I recommend watching some of his jam sessions. Side note, he toured with the Beach Boys in the 60s, filling in for Brian Wilson.

Alzheimer's had to be the CRUELEST disease ever!!! I think, as hard as it would be, I could take on cancer, or support a loved one with any number of nasty diseases. But, Alzheimer's, takes your soul, and the soul of everyone that loves you! The fear, of not knowing , lost memories, I just can't imagine. 😢

He played lead guitar on an album that is considered to be one of the top 10 rock albums ever. He then had a solo career that landed a number of his songs in the top 100 of all time. Makes me question your cred

    • @musikbyjh
      @musikbyjh  7 місяців тому

Perhaps a generational gap. Questioning someone's credibility based on not knowing one artist in a genre that wasn't their primary growing up seems harsh. Either way, we are grateful to learn Glen now. Thank you for stopping by and the comment. ✌🏽
