Another tip... if you want to enter something in as a fraction (this is also helpful for entering division equations) you go alpha, y=, enter. It also gives the answer as a fraction
or just press MODE go over to "Answers:" and scroll over to FRAC-APPROX and press enter then press 2ND MODE and everything will automatically be a fraction
Thanks for all the advice Brooke, you've been a great help on my SAT studying journey. I'm taking the exam on May 6 and have been studying for a whole month, can you give me some tips for this last week of studying?
Apparently nobody knows this about their TI-84s, but there's a bunch of quick-access menus you can get to super quickly by hitting alpha+(any of the top row/Fn keys). They cover everything from frac in the first one to abs(), summation, even integrals as well as a super easy matrix generator where you can input the number of rows and columns up to 6 I believe. They tend to be much faster than any other way I've seen to do them. If you went/go to a school where you had to reset your RAM, that's what the opening screen is telling you about after you reset it. It's been a while since I took any standardized tests- I'm an IB alum, but I took the SAT and ACT a few times and got reasonable scores. In my experience, it's much more effective to study for the content than to use a downloaded program. If you take the free practice exams that the ACT and SAT both post online, it's a pain but it makes it super easy to see where you're going wrong- Just make sure you're keeping an eye on time.

STAT>CALC can already find the equation of a line, quadratic if you give it the points in LIST... which can be stored as Y1 and graphed right away ... you don't need to download a program for that

I have a math final tomorrow and it basically determines whether or not I’m getting kicked out of the duel enrollment plan and I’m stressed bc my math teacher has taught nothing. Freaking tf out
missy case it actually went really good. I do not mean to sound very egotistical, but it was very easy in my opinion. I realized that about the first 15 questions for each section were really easy, and then everything after that was increasing in difficulty. Other than that , it went well. To be honest, I did not study at all and looking back at it, I didn’t need to study. Just a simple and standard test!

I recommend a calculator with CAS if you have got a weak factoring skills. CAS helps me sometimes on the Khan practice (calculator permitted questions)
Pro tip: Sell your TI on ebay and get a brand new casio. The interface is much cleaner and everything is literally 4 times faster, all for half the price.
Marta Castillo this is late, but check kijiji or craigslist. You can get graphing calcs for more than half off. I got a ti-84 for $40 (that’s $40 in CAD btw sooo it can be done on a budget!) just be sure to ask the seller to demonstrate that he calculator works
The calculator already has a built in program for solving quadratics. If you press apps and then 9 it brings you to a screen where you can select the info about your quadratic
I'm not taking the SAT and somehow I knew these stuff My grade 10 class has these Ti 84's to borrow so I geeked out and just tries to figure how to use this calculator with it's god like potential
Or, for two unknowns you can use Matrices, because all graphing calculators have that function. Basically if you have: 2x-3y=4 3x+5y= 10 You can press 2nd and whatever button your matrix button is and scroll right to edit. As your A matrix, edit A as a 2x2 and put your matrix, the example would be: [2 -3] [3 5] Then you’re going to press 2nd quit and go back to edit; to edit another matrix and edit B to be a 2 by 1 for your 2nd matrix and the ex would be: [4] [10] Then you’re going press 2nd quit. Then you are going to press 2nd matrix this time, DONT scroll to edit, just press the A when u get on the screen... after that you’re going to have A on your screen and press your inverse key (x to the -1) then you’re going to press your matrix button and press b and it will multiply it for you and spit your answer. The answer will be in order as the variables are. The same would apply for a 3 equation 3 unknown problem. The size of your matrices will add a column and row. That’s another way for you guys.

1:55. You don't need to use brackets. Follow your maths laws!!! Division comes before addition. WOW. A tutor doesn't know that. Anyway you should be using the fraction button (alpha + f1 then 1)
As a math teacher and tutor, I highly recommend the TI-36X Pro for the SAT! Solvers are built in. Exact answers with roots and pi are built in. Fraction button on the face with a fraction to decimal toggle button on the face. Faster and easier. No programs to download
