When I got my TI-84, I discovered I wanted to be a programmer. I created a program for all my math notes in which I could enter all variables and the calculator would show you each line to solve a formula. They still used it 5 years after I graduated (I happen to see someone transfer the program between two calculators in front of me). Since I was using my calculator too much, my batteries died for the final exams... Two years in a row (had the wrong backup batteries the second time).

An easier way to clear all is to go to the "draw" command and go to "ClrDraw". that clears the whole graph. also there is a way to make an easy version of snake.

A large part of this video was to introduce non-programmers to some of the most basic levels of programming. I'm sure that he did it the "long" way for accessibility, to ensure that everyone could easily understand what was happening. It's pretty easy to understand programming string outputs line-by-line, but you'd have to get into actual logic to write that looping program in fewer lines.
