The best thing is it isn't a diamond alternative, but rather a diamond upgrade. Something totally cool to add something more powerful than diamonds, but without lower the value of the diamond ore
It's crazy how this is already a year old. It feels like just yesterday I was having my mind blown with all this new nether stuff. Now we are getting a cave update.

On top of that, for a “wild” update, it didn’t even do anything for the overworld or wilderness of Minecraft!! I know there’s the mangrove swamp but c’mon. Outside of one visit, what else is different? What sets it apart from anything else you do? The wood type there is nice and mud bricks are amazing looking! But outside of intrinsic motivation there’s nothing incentivizing you to go visit that area. And on top of that the biome is so fucking rare that your intrinsic motivation will probably either be long dead or damn close to it by the time you finally Come across one... and the ancient cities are great! But the same issue (albeit to a smaller extent but still present nonetheless) just makes 1.19 that much more frustrating.. again, it’s good update. On paper. But everything that’s in it was either Frankensteined from C&C or bare-minimally implemented from one of the minecon votes.. (By Bare-minimally I mean not implemented any further than what was shown in initial concepts, or even going as far to cut certain features that were shown IN those initial concepts.. *Fireflies*) Oh wait, not a commitment! I mean to be fair. It isn’t really but when you literally show and communicate it to a community of over a million people as being the opposite, than yeah, it kind of IS a commitment. i'm before guy, going to the nether in diamond anyway, never lost a suit of diamond armor. One time though, i ripped by accidentally aggro zombie pigs after i exited my blaze farm. It was a safe area item wise, upon return i saw something truly scary: a baby zombie pig in full diamond gear fast, small hitbox and tough as nails. Luckily my spare bow was almost as good as the one i carried before i died, and my aim is true (also, kiting is a thing) Recovered all of it

@@dio1647 it's just up to the person but in my opinion Terraria is better because of the HUGE amount of items, bosses, and enemies and it's more grindy but eventually pays off so much better. Minecraft is meant for the creative while Terraria is meant more for PvE (again in my opinion) and that's why I love Terraria it isn't as good when it comes to creativity but so much better for events, bosses, loot system, and just more to do.
Just a few things i discovered while testing on my own: 1- soul fire actually does twice as much damage as normal fire (and half as much as lava) 2- Ancient debris has nearly the same spawning conditions as emerald, except it spawns at y 26 (three blocks below lava lake level) and in groups of up to three 3- for some reason, hoglins burn in fire. this is odd as it is a nether mob 4- ancient debris smelts 1.5 times slower than normal (0.75 in a blast furnace) 5- fungi don;t need space to grow, unlike normal trees 6- the new wood types dont burn like normal wood 7- Endermen can pickup nylium and shroomlights
I was playing a survival in this snapshot and when I got to the nether I was so excited! I tested different types of blocks and I came across a funny bug. When you make doors out of the new blue wood, the you place the door and destroy it... You get 2 out of the 1 door 😂
@@ocnarf40 Withers don't blow it up, they have an attack where they crunch through nearby blocks, including obsidian. This is to prevent you from just summoning it in obsidian and having no risk.
A lot of the revenue is made from the Realms subscriptions and the in game Marketplace. Still agree that updating a game like this to this day and not paying more than $30 (depending the system/desired setup) is a great way to keep people interested.
You forgot that the blue fire makes you take one heart of damage instead of half a heart ( which is how much damage normal fire does when you're standing in it )
Just thinking about the fact that this is the first time we've seen Mojang add a new tool set since crafting and tools were introduced back in January 2010 (Edit: with "toolset" I mean pickaxe, sword, shovel, axe, hoe and the standard 4 armour pieces. I have to disagree with you on that like it looks to me the amount of trouble it takes to get these new tools is absolutely not worth it it only is a little bit better than diamond but it doesn't allow us to instant mine new blocks and doesn't allow us to one shot new mobs without strength either. I am very disappointed with this I think this new material is going to just be a gimmick like golden tools because the trouble it takes to obtain them is not worth what you get out of them. I am going to be sticking with diamond because there is no way I am going to risk mining under the lava and dying in the nether for this I think this was a total flop.
@TheROBLOCrafter I get why they want it to be hard to obtain these items but at least make it rewarding if you get these items where it can instant mine new blocks and have an actual use for them to make up for the trouble it takes to get it.
I feel like it would’ve been better if it was easier to get, but also it was in between iron and diamond but kept the lava immunity, it would be an interesting trade-off, and thus wouldn’t devalue all the diamonds in every world.

@@hoetato4193 The new ore spawns in the Nether below the lava and has to be combined with another material to create the ingots. It's basically hellstone.
Diamonds may still be better because they are easier to get, much like how iron replaced bronze in human history, despite bronze having a few advantages over it. Copper and tin were both hard to get.
I think that eventually it should have been because it would get a bit boring after I got diamonds and this makes it a little more fun and challenging to get it which makes diamonds the better option because it’s more obtainable
Now they need to turn it up to 12...out of possible 5. Add the aether but make ir HARD AS HELL to get to. I'm talking 11 Netherite blocks arranged in a 3×3 with a beacon at the center of the top or bottom. THEN it needs to be struck by lightning. (Of course it will have an increased chance to get hit. But still take a while)

I remember playing with the Tekkit modpack years ago, and one of the mods was the addition of ores in the Nether. What made it so appealing was that it had all the regular ores you'd find in the overworld, but when refined you could get 2-4 times the items. The only drawback is that they had a chance to explode like TNT when mined, but that was a risk we were willing to take.

It spits fire balls at you like the blaze does OR spawns a lava source block within 6 blocks radius around it. Its behaviour like the drowned. It won't attack unless you attack first or enter the lava. Or at night time in the overworld. It burns grass, flower and tree when in contact with them as it slithers over the grassblocks
So not only is "Neverite Ore" rather rare, though you need 4 (and 4 gold ingots) just to make even one ingot of the stuff!? ...ah, only need one ingot plus the diamond equipment, not bad. Well, heck. It it'll definitely need Mending and whatnot. Cool they are Immune to melting in Lava.
Maybe speedruns will update? I'd be curious about the time save you could have if your portal end up in a warped forest versus the 1.9+ dragon fight being slower.
@@im_sntsz but you'd come out insanely far from your main portal making a new one. 1 block distance in the nether is equivalent to 8 in the overworld, so you'd be traveling massive distances to return home.

You should still use Iron. You can get your Diamond Tools from the Overworld then use the Smithing Table to Make Diamond Gear into Netherite.

I screamed so loud when I first found out netherite was gonna pass diamond. I’d rather wear some shiny blue armor than some ugly black armor.
It doesn’t really beat it if you still need it to craft the netherite stuff

Diamonds may still be better because they are easier to get, much like how iron replaced bronze in human history, despite bronze having a few advantages over it. Copper and tin were both hard to get.
I think that eventually it should have been because it would get a bit boring after I got diamonds and this makes it a little more fun and challenging to get it which makes diamonds the better option because it’s more obtainable
The netherite is mojang finally saying: We've got over our crippling fear of changing classic minecraft progression!
Now they need to turn it up to 12...out of possible 5. Add the aether but make ir HARD AS HELL to get to. I'm talking 11 Netherite blocks arranged in a 3×3 with a beacon at the center of the top or bottom. THEN it needs to be struck by lightning. (Of course it will have an increased chance to get hit. But still take a while)

I remember playing with the Tekkit modpack years ago, and one of the mods was the addition of ores in the Nether. What made it so appealing was that it had all the regular ores you'd find in the overworld, but when refined you could get 2-4 times the items. The only drawback is that they had a chance to explode like TNT when mined, but that was a risk we were willing to take.

It spits fire balls at you like the blaze does OR spawns a lava source block within 6 blocks radius around it.
Its behaviour like the drowned. It won't attack unless you attack first or enter the lava. Or at night time in the overworld. It burns grass, flower and tree when in contact with them as it slithers over the grassblocks

So not only is "Neverite Ore" rather rare, though you need 4 (and 4 gold ingots) just to make even one ingot of the stuff!? ...ah, only need one ingot plus the diamond equipment, not bad.
Well, heck. It it'll definitely need Mending and whatnot. Cool they are Immune to melting in Lava.

@@im_sntsz but you'd come out insanely far from your main portal making a new one. 1 block distance in the nether is equivalent to 8 in the overworld, so you'd be traveling massive distances to return home.
