Tom Smith I hear you man, it's hard to let go of the past and face what's right in front of you. But times change and people need to change with it. We are a resilient people. I understand the sadness, we grow up thinking that we are going to stay with a company for 50 years and have a pension and all of that used to be true. But those days are gone. And that's not this gentleman's fault. I mean, we have self checkout lines at the grocery store now. We all need to diversify our skillsets because even though the automation and technology are taking over, computers can't do everything. I respect where this man comes from, his struggle, that's why he needs to stop fighting us and join us instead.

But it is because we DO CARE about them and about us that it is so frustrating to see people be so stupid and vote against their own best interests. And in the process, they've dragged us down with them. Despite warnings and pleas, they refuse to listen. Now we have the devil in the White House. All they had to do was "think", for a second. Trump made promises, but he never explained *HOW* he was going to deliver, and they were too dumb to ask or care. And because of that, we all have to deal with him being in power. Their stupidity affects us all. Let them struggle. We all do.

This sad to watch. One of the reason these companies are gone was because they were killing the workers and workers have severe health issues. Ex. Small town in Kentucky same situation..blames Obama blah blah but benefiting off of his healthcare because 70% of those people have high levels of health problems. Where they are seeing doctors three to four times a week where one former worker have $6000 worth of medicine b/c working in the mills ruined his heart, lungs, and body that they don't have to pay for he walks with an oxygen tank for god sake and he was still mad about the mills being closed whereas he could barely stand with heart and lung problems
I lived in that area for a few years and to see how bad it really is, anybody in their right mind knows steel isn't coming back...

Don't worry! It will take 5 to 10 years to construct a steel plant. In the meantime Trump will rely on his closest ally - Russia to supply the US with steel and aluminum.
It just baffles me how little people know. I knew Trump was full of s**t before he was a candidate. And people still cling on a hope that Trump will be true to his word.
The industry may come back, but the new plants will be automated with minimal actual staff. I can't understand how folks can't see this as it's happening all over the world. Towns like Monessen will have to diversify to survive. They were conned by DJT; he got their vote on a false promise and now he's turned his back on them. I sincerely hope they have long memories when they come to vote in November and 2020.

Part of the capitalistic system, which America promotes. America failed to stay competitive in that market. It's still sad to see so many people losing their job due to poor management and poor national policies. And this is not just a democratic or GOP thing, both parties are equally guilty by playing partisan politics and short-term gains. Actually this is partially also true for Europe.
China is doing better because of their long-term policies and planning. The progress we're seeing from China was planned long ago.

Support them and get the corporate money OUT of politics. If you are a CEO of an American company your number one priority is to your share holders, not your workers, if the stock stays high you keep your insanely over paying job. Trump built many of his building with steel from China, his clothing line was also made in foreign countries. I work in automation and if Americans could see first hand what robots and software can do it would blow their minds. Its only going to get worst for the educated and unskilled, I wish Trump and Hillary would have told them the truth. I have worked in my line of work almost all of my life and I am now 58, I now have mixed feeling but there is nothing I can really do to change things. I work in places that used to employ dozens of people and now its a few.
