I've seen 'Up' so many times now, and not once have I been able to get through that opening montage without crying. Before that, I had never even cried at any movie.
Honestly, this list should probably be divided into two lists: one for protagonists and one for villains. For example, the death of Littlefoot's mother in "The Land Before Time", and many of the Disney villain deaths could easily make this list. I think this'd be a good top 10 for protagonists: 10) Optimus Prime, 9) Charlotte, 8) The Iron Giant, 7) Tadashi, 6) Stoick, 5) Coral, 4) Littlefoot's mother, 3) Bambi's mother, 2) Ellie, 1) Mufasa For villains: 10) Mother Gothel, 9) Shan Yu, 8) The Evil Queen from Snow White, 7) Gaston, 6) Syndrome, 5) Clayton, 4) Ursula, 3) Scar, 2) Frollo, 1) Maleficent
i think people should know this. 4:40 when tarzan falls down on the ground, there is a lightning flash. look closely at the tree when the thunder releases its flash.
Yeah, but villains usually failed in their evil plots during that time in Disney films. Gaston had a song about killing the Beast in Beauty & The Beast, Ursula schemed about killing Ariel in The Little Mermaid, and Frollo sang about burning Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. However, all those villains failed, and suffered dearly for it. Scar actually killed Mufasa like he said he would, which didn't happen that often.
+Horatio Nelson That's what I was just about to comment: "Be prepared? Yea, we'll be prepared....for what?" Scar: For the death of the king. That's why Mufasa's death, while shocking, wasn't that sad because the audience was sort of...."prepared" for it.
Iron Giant still makes me wheep and I'm 25 years old for christ's sake. And UP was messed up, I went to the movie for laughs and joy, and after 10 minutes I was sobbing in my chair.
Sedina Mahious No, they were not. They are only perceived as a big deal due to having been first seen by everyone as whiny little kids who get upset at anything.

LokiCat well you know how in that one part when Wall-E was kind of crushed and didn't turn back on until EVE fixed him? Yeah well to me it seemed like he died like that so :/
Cece Holt No, and the fact that they followed it up with Optimus (I've seen that movie a million times and I haven't made it through that scene without at least one tear) was almost too much for me. Thankfully Bambi's mom came next and I was able to dry my eyes.
Jorge Hernandez that was watership down, one of the most famous books to ever come from america. And yes, it is very bloody at times, but it's still an incerdibly good movie and an even better book
Little Foot's mom's death made me bawl more than Mufasa's ever did. It still makes me teary eyed and I'm 23 already. And yet it didn't even get a damn honorable mention? You shitting me?
I know. She was a memorable death and deserved to be on the list. Come to think of it, I didn't agree too much with Clayton's death being on the list at all. Kerchank or whoever the name of Terk's father was is a better death than the dumb hunter.
Flat on was on the list for HOW he died. If you look on the big tree on the left of the screen during the lightning, you can see a shadow of him. He was hung on the vine as if it was a noose.
Why do you think scenes like these are put into movies that are made for children? Is it a way for them to learn that life ends for everyone eventually? It seems that a lot of children may be too young to be exposed to and comprehend this subject :-\.
Ellie Fredricksen is certainly the most realistic. It touches my heart for several reasons: 1st it is so realistic that it can happen to any of us. 2nd It's a good way to die, you live a happy life with the you love and finally you peacfully pass away beside that person. A good way to die. Personally, for me, the number one tied with Ellie is The Iron Giant's...no..he is Superman now
Well, i guess Mufasas death in the Lion King will be #1, but i actually think Ellie in Up deserves this spot. It's even more sad in my opinion, just not so nostalgic.
I honestly think that they should have put down hazels death instead of the efrifan rabbits. Hazel died peacefully, and right at the end too. It was followed by a beautiful showing of Hazel's ghost following the black rabbit to his owlsla. It was so sad yet fulfilling. You get to know that hazel lived a long and happy life after the death of woundwort. I honestly live this film,no matter how violent and scary it may be.
Crazy Muffin Animations I still think Blackavar's death was the saddest. I didn't expect it when i saw the film (since he lived in the book) The scene they showed of the dog killing the rabbits in that scene was the end climax of the bad guys dying. It's like saying the saddest death in Star Wars was Tarkin's and the death star
Eduardo Nunes Everyone is different on the emotion scale. I didn't cry when Bambi's mother got shot, But I also come from a family that hunts deer... so maybe theres a reason you don't find these deaths sad enough to make your cry. Doesn't make you a sociopath lol
The old dog didn't die from the train hit. But yes, Tod's mom did die very early in the movie. Too early for me to remember it, in fact, which is probably why I didn't think of it.
#10 Charlotte (Charlottes web)#9 Little foots mum (The land before time)#8 Coral (Finding memo)#7 Bambis mum (Bambis)#6 Usula (The little mermaid)#5 Flynn rider (Tangled)#4 Baymax (Big hero 6)#3 Ray (The princess and the frog)#2 Ellie (Up)#1 Mufasa (The lion king)
My Body Is Ready That's called chit chat, small talk, etc. It's a way to start a conversation and keep us from not talking to each other at all, ultimately leading to the extinction of mankind! Any other questions?
When I was young my mother traveled a lot so I didn't see much of her, and I always had this terrible anxiety that I would never see her again. Seeing Littlefoot's mother die made me think of my mother, which made the scene that much more traumatizing. But that doesn't diminish the movie at all for me. It actually brings LBT closer to my ❤
scar is such as monster that not only he killed his own brother the king, he also want to kill simba especially when he still a cub and simba back then trusted his uncle scar. he never thought his favorite uncle will kill him just for the throne and betray him. it will be even more shocking for simba if zazu told him that his uncle never likes him at all that his uncle even said to his father and servant that he wish that simba wasn't even born.
+Andrew Gan Mufasa should have banished him when he still had the chance. and in the sequel, Covo was suposed to grow up to be like him and diddnt want to and Simba gave into stereotypes. any brown lion with a black mane is evil.
WatchMojo left out one of the most beautiful endings and bittersweet deaths by far in an animated film -- one that still makes men my age cry like babies: Hazel meeting the Black Rabbit himself in the epilogue/ending of Watership Down (1979). The Black Rabbit himself has come to escort Hazel to the bunny afterlife, which is an incredible honor for the courageous, noble Hazel. That ending is still one of the powerful endings I have ever seen -- so perfect, so bittersweet.
Except he doesn't have a really tragic death in the movie, and this is a list for film. If you want a tragic death, watch the south park movie, and watch the part where the Mole dies. THAT is sad.
Up! Yes! I was in my early 20's and I still cried a little for Up. I guess in my head I was thinking tragic. The #1 was beautifully done without a single word spoken. Bravo WatchMojo! Bravo!
Joseph K yeah, the actual Disney animated studio fell off a long time ago. What was their last movie even? Can anyone name it without googling? I know I can't.
+zahid Alexandro Mares Never seen Bambi from beginning to end. only parts of it. I've heard that the scene of Bambi's mother dying is ALSO the final scene of Bambi as a baby dear. In the next scene he has grown but not yet the adult deer he would become at the end
The Ellie Fredrickson reminded me of my grandmother who passes away from cancer and looked very pale and honey and my mom didn't want me to remember her like that so I never got to say goodbye and it made me cry so much and I wish I could just see her again. Sometimes I have dreams about her and then I wake up and realize that she is still gone.
I think that #5 is incorrect, but only because I think it should be #4, ahead of Transformers. There is NO WAY that OP is sadder or more memorable than Iron Giant!
Little foot's mother should have entered the top 10 list. Her death is heroic, saving her child and staying with him until the end. WAY sadder and shocking than nemo's mom, and ursula on this list..
the tv series is much more child friendly... i loved it as a child and then i made the mistake to watch the movie (not that it is bad or something, just not the best thing to watch for a 7 year old...)
Try Plague Dogs....yeesh. And there was another movie that I can't remember it's name; it i was a murder mystery that involved talking animals, mainly house cats. I just remember the blood, intestines, and head of a dead blind cat.
Rayne Kraven oh he has a worst one at least in my opinion "the plague dogs" It's so unbelievable sad, it's a beautiful movie, but be prepared to cry.... a lot.
Rayne Kraven Actually, the rabbits that were mangled in that brief scene they showed were the bad guys. I think the saddest death in Watership Down was Blackavar (especially since he lived in the book, it was totally unexpected)
Rayne Kraven I agree. It was violent. (I saw it as a kid, and back in the late '70s, cartoons did NOT have blood!) But all i meant was that it didn't have an emotional heartstring impact as when a good guy dies
The saddest one for me would have to be the mom in the land before time when she desperately tries to assure her son that he will be alright.T-T I cry every time.
(How do I keep mentioning this dang movie in the comments???) I cried so hard when Stoick died in HTTYD 2 :( It was probably one of the few times I actually cried during an animated movie. With Stoick finally being with his wife again after 20 years of thinking she was dead, only for a hypnotized Toothless to kill him after he protected Hiccup from the death blow. Not saying it deserved an honourable mention, but still pretty sad :( Also, Ash in the first Pokémon movie. Still cry to this day.
Just so everyone knows, HTTYD is a 13 book series and Stoik does not die. Toothless is a whiny green dragon less than a foot long, Astrid is actually a wild haired crazy girl named Kamikazi and Fishlegs is skinny with a vegetarian common garden dragon. The books are so much better than the movies. The movies just use the same name as the books. The story lines are totally different with no romance in the books. So. Much. Better.
I was thinking the same @Marina Wingender but man #1 was absolutely emotional. I wish we could've gotten a short film of their relationship but sadly didn't. That opening was for me the best opening minutes of an animated film I've ever seen. Perfect(ly sad)
I think Optimus Prime should have been number one. I'm not going to lie, I never cried at any of the characters dieing on this list except for him and that was because I and everyone who love Transformers had a serious attachment Optimus Prime, and to see him die after fighting Megatron was really hard to watch. Imagen if in a Ninja Turtles movie one of the turtles died, IT WOULD BREAK YOUR HEART!!!!!
Transformers was my childhood. I mean G1, not that Michael Bay garbage. I remember waking up every single day at 6:30 all the way until season two ended and then the movie came out. 2 years of bonding with Optimus and he died 25 minutes in the movie. I was so upset I almost didn't even want to watch season 3. But I did and when the episode came where he was resurrected just to heroically commit suicide to save the autobots, I was upset again. I didn't think he would ever come back.
***** I felt the same way. It was really hard because he died a hero's death and those are the ones that hit the hardest. The second time was even harder than the first and he did that saving others as well.
I'm only 13 but when I was 5 or 6 my parents bought me transformers G1 box sets. I've seen seasons 1-2 but have never seen season 3. I couldn't believe prime died. I couldn't believe so many transformers died in that movie! Damn! It was autobot slaughter! Did anyone else feel sad when starscream died?.
alright i got a serious problem...how are people supposed to watch this who don't want some movies spoiled? I mean i havent seen every animated film ever...and for every entry they say who dies immediately, so no time to realize you havent seen that movie yet...They should say "Spoilers for such and such films" at the beginning...
Marky Oosterveen ***** Guys, I think you misunderstood him. He says that just "Spoiler alert" in the beginning isn't enough, as he is still interested in watching the video, but unsure cause he probably watched half of them and the other half of movies mentioned will be spoiled for him unintentionally. That's why he suggests that WatchMojo alerts before of which movies they are going to give the spoilers out. In a way I agree with him, but WatchMojo would lose their power of suspension here, so unfortunately we have to just deal with it :D
I always thought that ray's death was the sweatest death of all time, in other words I like your list but I think ray definately should have been in one of the top spots instead of an honorable mention.
I agree Bambi ' s mother death was sadder, we got to know the mother longer than mustafa and also bambi has never seen his mom's dead body, he just run like his mother told him to, hes happy they escape, but realise after that she's not with him.It was heart breaking .
Me? Crying?... No... I'm just sweating from my eyeballs...
It's natural...
Not gonna lie.
I still cry when I think of Bambi's Mother and how she told him to not look back. RIP
Wait, Bambi was a boy? O_O my world fliped over.
JoeMartinez18 Wait, you thought he was gay o_o
Moon,〈3s Chained I though He was a girl XD
JoeMartinez18 Oh my gad XD
JoeMartinez18 So you never really seen the movie ! Because if you saw it you would noticed that Bambi grew as a deer, with antlers.
I've seen 'Up' so many times now, and not once have I been able to get through that opening montage without crying. Before that, I had never even cried at any movie.

OH MY GOD U MENTIONED TADASHI
wedonotspeakofhisdeathhewasthebestbrotherandcallahanwasstupidtoleadhimtodie
Ellie and Mufasa made me cry the most out of all of them.
Ikr ;(
Same here
I still weep at the Iron Giant. No shame.
Remove that Zed pick. He died in season 3.
But he didnt die. THe end of hte movie shows that.
***** wow vin disel played a nice character other than groot.
*****
They did say that resurrections count.
No shame at all, Shady. Gets me every time.
i think people should know this.
4:40 when tarzan falls down on the ground, there is a lightning flash. look closely at the tree when the thunder releases its flash.
Oh my god i JUST saw what you meant! That used to scare me when i was little. And it still scares me );
I saw what you meant when the lightning flashes you see the shadow of Clayton's body hanging from the vine that was around his neck.
Oh......god.... O_o
I noticed that just now.. Never noticed it as a kid... These deaths are pretty brutal for kids movies
That was just his shadow.
Wait... did they say Mufasa's death was unexpected? After a whole music number about killing Mufasa?
Yeah, but villains usually failed in their evil plots during that time in Disney films. Gaston had a song about killing the Beast in Beauty & The Beast, Ursula schemed about killing Ariel in The Little Mermaid, and Frollo sang about burning Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. One of my favorite songs in the musical is the song when they kill Mustafa.
+Horatio Nelson I know right!
Madeline Swilley I was backstage singing the whole time
Iron Giant still makes me wheep and I'm 25 years old for christ's sake. And UP was messed up, I went to the movie for laughs and joy, and after 10 minutes I was sobbing in my chair.
We watched UP at the end of my school year. God damn it took so much self control to not cry.
SUPERMAN...
One of the most emotional deaths is Kenny's. You know, from that film... "Every South Park Episode"
I cri evry tiem! :(
You bastard!
Lol how did I get 21 likes from that.
still grieving over Bambi's mom & Mufasa :(
And Little Foot's mother (instant tearjerker).
And Optimus Prime. [SFM] I died for your sins!
Me too :D
I didn't see Bambi or the Lion King, were the deaths THAT bad?
Sedina Mahious No, they were not. They are only perceived as a big deal due to having been first seen by everyone as whiny little kids who get upset at anything.
What if she didn't die but there is a bigger plan later in Bambi's life. 0_o
littlefoot's mother's death is the one I cried a lot when I was a kid until now
same here, I can't explain why but the water works are semi serious
Mighty eagul 101 same

The death in Finding Nemo isn't really a spoiler since it happens in the first scene, though.

Clearly you didn't think about this, somewhere along The Iron Giant, The Iron Giant can Relocate to his body and reassemble any decapitated limbs.
Yes, but he was completely vaporized. I don't think he can make his limbs come back together from billions of scattered atoms.
Toy Bonnie wall-e doesn't die
LokiCat well you know how in that one part when Wall-E was kind of crushed and didn't turn back on until EVE fixed him? Yeah well to me it seemed like he died like that so :/
i always cry when i watch up:(
Then watch down, problem solved
Elisa Martinez thanks:)
I'm so Pun tastic
you little bitch
+Elisa Martinez can i have your number
Am I the only one who always cries when they see The Iron Giant die?
Cece Holt nope
Cece Holt No worries I cry too
Cece Holt No, and the fact that they followed it up with Optimus (I've seen that movie a million times and I haven't made it through that scene without at least one tear) was almost too much for me. Thankfully Bambi's mom came next and I was able to dry my eyes.
Nina Garcia so do i😊
No, my mom, my brother, and I all get teary-eyed.
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT FILM OF THE LITTLE RABBITS GETTING TEARED UP?, HOLY SHIT
Sorry I lost my temper but wow, that was some gruesome animation.
Jorge Hernandez
that was watership down, one of the most famous books to ever come from america. And yes, it is very bloody at times, but it's still an incerdibly good movie and an even better book
It was called "Watership Down". Check out the Top 10 Creepy Kids Movies to learn more.
I died when u said that comment
sheelaflower Um, actually, the book is British.
I never cry in ANYTHING, but #1 actually made me get the feels. (I didn't cry, but it was the most depressing thing ever)
Little Foot's mom's death made me bawl more than Mufasa's ever did. It still makes me teary eyed and I'm 23 already. And yet it didn't even get a damn honorable mention? You shitting me?

I MEAN CLAYTON! Stupid autocorrect! -_-
Avanelle Hosey I know about that tree. I think that was the one value I got fro his death, but otherwise, that death just was not memorable to me.
Forget any of them
What about Setsuko's death from Grave of the Fireflies????
Hello??
I thought I was over it but then I heard: 'We're in a club' and I started tearing up again. I swear to god, Ellie's death always gets me.
Bambi's mother was the saddest death ever in the whole movie.
tell me about it
Ok
Jesse Azcky thanks for the advice
true
Jesse Azcky ok now that is just... on the next level
"no surprise here"
actually it is, most of us expected mufasa to be #1
actually there is a surprice : musafa isn't the number 1 in this one
I just said that
***** oh i didn't read the last part my bad -_-
mrsuns10 Yep, you're the only one.
Is it only me who thinks the death of the watership down rabbits was a bit overkill.
Damn you, Pixar. A grown man shouldn't be seen with a teary eye while watching an animated movie.
I think Up's composer nailed it.
Pixar. The company that can take the manliness out of men
I can't watch this...Land before time..omg I cried so hard when that movie came out and she died...
+Blonde Zombi The first one never made me cry, but number ten, EVERY TIME it goes to "We Will Still Be Your Friends" I burst into tears
Same. The land before time was my favorit movie as a kid and that scene really hit home
I'm 28 pushing 29 soon and today Littlefoots mothers death still makes me cry

Grave of the fireflies - when the little girl died :(
SPOILERS
Noxrad How is it a spoiler when they are dead from the beginning of the film?
I've never seen it (obviously) but if you go in with such information then its still less of an impact.
Huke Chong ive never seen bambi and it spoiled me.
Miguel Borrero They said spoilers in the beginning, dumbass
What!?!?!?!?! Not a single one from anime???? The ones from Grave of the Fireflies was gut wrenching ! GUT WRENCHING!!!
anime =/= cartoon
An anime is not a cartoon
An anime is not a cartoon
More likely they are going to make one for animes.
work on your english.
Mufasa's death and Ellie's death was the most saddest ones! They made me cry ;(
+Raz Prachia i know right!
same, but mufassa's death madd me cry more😭😭😭😭
Me too!!
You know what's the worst? Watch mojo
In all seriousness, why the fuck would they show us charlottes web in fucking fourth grade?
Ellie Fredricksen is certainly the most realistic. It touches my heart for several reasons: 1st it is so realistic that it can happen to any of us. 2nd It's a good way to die, you live a happy life with the you love and finally you peacfully pass away beside that person. A good way to die.

how could you not include littlefoot's mothers death? it was one of the super saddest deaths in animated movies!
How could they not include Setsuko from grave of the fireflies?
DisneySeeker yeah soooooo sad
damn it as soon as "up" appeared I started crying, that was so sad
The first time I saw Up I was at my best friends house, we were 16 and we held each other and cried like little girls when Ellie died!
You were little girls.
Is it weird that I didn't shed 1 single tear even as a child during any of these death scenes?
Future generations will prove failing to cry during Up is a sign of being a sociopath.
ztslovebird So does that mean I'm a sociopath since I didn't cry?
Eduardo Nunes Everyone is different on the emotion scale. I didn't cry when Bambi's mother got shot, But I also come from a family that hunts deer... so maybe theres a reason you don't find these deaths sad enough to make your cry. Doesn't make you a sociopath lol
Clayton is actually Tarzan’s cousin. Tarzan’s birth name was John Clayton the third, cousin to William Clayton
fox and the hound was pretty sad
No one died in that one.
***** Your forgetting the train scene? when the old dog gets hit by the train?
***** The fox Toby his mother died and like the other guy said the old dog gets hit by a train
When the when he fell off the train track he didnt die. But I dont get how he survived with only a broken leg
The old dog didn't die from the train hit. But yes, Tod's mom did die very early in the movie. Too early for me to remember it, in fact, which is probably why I didn't think of it.
How can Little foots mother's death not be number 1? :|
Agreed
Disney hype
I didn't cry when when I read The fault in our stars (I understand you probably think I'm weird) but I was really sobbing at Ellie and ray's death.
you finally include the land before time
10:15 WHAT KIND OF CHILDREN MOVIE IS THAT!?!?
I know those images give me nightmares and make me cry and make me feel bad about owning a dog.
it gets worse, a lot worse.
It is a really good one Also fitted for adults (in my opinion). You should watch it.
A fucking scaring one I know and is dose get a lot lot worse that that
Nightcorerulz Worse?! What could be worse than watching rabbits getting killed?!
I don't understand why Littlefoot's mother was not included in this countdown. It scarred me so deeply :'C
Sims 3 Forever Dude I thought she died because of the T-Rex attack and the earthquake :0
I'm not crying you're crying
Same reaction whenever I watch Up and Bambi

Damn! Those rabbits got FUCKED UP!!! I got to see that movie!
Lol ^^^
Not as same as Rowt and Snitter on 1982's Plague Dogs :\
That movie with the rabbits and dogs is the only movie that I haven't seen.
Watch Felidae after.
I've heard that it's about bunnies it's a kids movie and has dead rabbits and blood I think
easiest way to prove youre a movie expert: Suck up to Pixar!
because every critic sucks up to Pixar so I must do the exact same thing or people would think im sTooPiD!
Suck up to every Pixar movie except Cars 2.
Vincent Lyle Pixar is very popular because it really is good. Just not to you and the rest of the minority apparently.
When I was young my mother traveled a lot so I didn't see much of her, and I always had this terrible anxiety that I would never see her again. Seeing Littlefoot's mother die made me think of my mother, which made the scene that much more traumatizing. But that doesn't diminish the movie at all for me. It actually brings LBT closer to my ❤
claytons not dead hes just hanging around
Lol
Haha
Lol. Puns.
Miguel Borrero thanks glad you like my joke
"Clayton!"
Haven't watched yet, but I'm sure The Lion King will win!
and I was wrong...
callmemarc but clooose
callmemarc lol I thought he was gonna win too! So shocked that Fredrickson won!
I knew up and the lion king would come 1st and 2nd but i didnt know which way round it would be ;)
callmemarc I was wrong too..... But it did come close and im happy for that!
6:34 even now I had a tear in my eye ;(
Me too man... :,(
Try blinking a lot, it helps ;(
At first, I was surprised that Mufasa wasn't number 1, but as soon as I saw Ellie, I started tearing up. Well done WatchMojo, well done.
how can you not see mafusa and scar as thor and loki
Edit: damn this comment is old..
I saw that connection a long time ago.
Omg you're right XD
+The Lucario Gamer Gal larke “Silver Slyveon” Except that one did not kill the other sibling.
scar is such as monster that not only he killed his own brother the king, he also want to kill simba especially when he still a cub and simba back then trusted his uncle scar. he never thought his favorite uncle will kill him just for the throne and betray him.
it will be even more shocking for simba if zazu told him that his uncle never likes him at all that his uncle even said to his father and servant that he wish that simba wasn't even born.
+Andrew Gan Mufasa should have banished him when he still had the chance. and in the sequel, Covo was suposed to grow up to be like him and diddnt want to and Simba gave into stereotypes. any brown lion with a black mane is evil.
the only one I didn`t see was the one with the dogs tearing up the rabbits, man that looked gruesome
the funniest thing about that movie? It's rated U in the UK which is the lowest age rating we have ( not counting Uc)
0.0 Dang!
Welcome to Britain
XD thanks....I think
+Eve Swazy500 reminds me of animal farm
The iron giant killed me
And Ray
And Ellie fredrickson
And stiock
WatchMojo left out one of the most beautiful endings and bittersweet deaths by far in an animated film -- one that still makes men my age cry like babies: Hazel meeting the Black Rabbit himself in the epilogue/ending of Watership Down (1979). The Black Rabbit himself has come to escort Hazel to the bunny afterlife, which is an incredible honor for the courageous, noble Hazel. That ending is still one of the powerful endings I have ever seen -- so perfect, so bittersweet.
It's 1978 not 1979
I think this movie is too gruesome, but if it's ok with you, what about the end of The Plague Dogs?
aleister crowley Not ashamed to say I cried like a baby when Hazel died.
They forgot Kenny dies
Kenny always dies, and non of them are really notable.
Those were all pretty funny.
Hellguard274 There is an episode where he dies of some kind of disease and is gone for a whole season afterwards. He does come back though.
Except he doesn't have a really tragic death in the movie, and this is a list for film. If you want a tragic death, watch the south park movie, and watch the part where the Mole dies. THAT is sad.
Those bastards!
Yeah, nope. Ellie's death saddens me but.... goddammit Mufasa's death always, I mean ALWAYS, made me cried like a little bitch. It's really emotional
I know right! Ellie is sad but Mufasa is waaaaay sadder!
I GET WHAT YOU MEAN ITS JUST THE WAY SIMBA SAYS , WELL EVERYTHING IN IT ITS JUST SO SO SO SO SO SAD PASS THE TISSIES
Nabila Ghina Fadhila
Clayton should have kept his hand at the level of his eyes...
Ahah...... I see what you did there with the poto reference
Photo?
+Bekfast ahhaaa bekfast
Blue Electric Neon Cat :D
Please visit my channel to watch more cartoons. Thank you so much!
Oh, damn it WatchMojo! Iron Giant, Bambi's mother and Ellie all made me tear up like a baby! THE TEARS WON'T STOP NOW! D:
Before I watch, what else could be number 1 besides Mufasa? I seriously can't think of anything else for that slot.
Up! Yes! I was in my early 20's and I still cried a little for Up. I guess in my head I was thinking tragic. The #1 was beautifully done without a single word spoken.
Bravo WatchMojo! Bravo!
merkabah47 I know! Disney's known for making the best love stories with absolutely no words! They've made absolute masterpieces
***** Pixar, not disney, disney distributes and releases pixar films, disney movies are crap for the most part
Joseph K yeah, the actual Disney animated studio fell off a long time ago. What was their last movie even? Can anyone name it without googling? I know I can't.
merkabah47 Frozen
Am I the only one that seriously has never seen Tarzan?
Nope, never seen it
Yes!?!
I've never even heard of it until now.
I have officially seen it now, now i feel like i have just felt a very exclusive club for absolutely no reason, it's an okay movie but not the best.
Who agrees with me that Syndrome's death was hilarious!?!?!😂😂😂😂😂
I cried on the iron giant one 😢
Emma Lee Something me :)
Emma Lee Something When I saw him die.. I couldn't help but to die laughing XDD
Rest in peace,Orion Pax
Why did the death of those rabbits have happy sounding music along with bodies ripped open showing there guts?
Because the rabbits that get torn apart in that scene are the antagonists.
Huitzilopochtli still, pretty damn fuckd up.
mestre12 The whole movie/book is kinda fucked up. (It still has a great story though.)
your all soo right
mestre12 I know it fucked me up when I was a kid
Koda's mom's death from Brother Bear was the first Disney one that made me cry. Neither Mufasa's death or Bambi's mom's death.
+zahid Alexandro Mares Never seen Bambi from beginning to end. only parts of it. I've heard that the scene of Bambi's mother dying is ALSO the final scene of Bambi as a baby dear. In the next scene he has grown but not yet the adult deer he would become at the end
+zahid Alexandro Mares That's not the ONLY dark moment in Bambi. Later in the film, about 80 percent of the Forest burns down
Top 10 anime deaths!
No.5 is incorrect the Iron giant was alive and rebuilding himself after the explosion.
They say at the beginning that it still counts as a death even if the character is resurrected.
but he wasn't resurrected it was called self repair. You'd have to die first to be resurrected Iron Giant was blown apart but he never died.
baraki808 Shut up..
I think that #5 is incorrect, but only because I think it should be #4, ahead of Transformers. There is NO WAY that OP is sadder or more memorable than Iron Giant!
Dont over comlicate the world. You should get the idea of the video
Little foot's mother should have entered the top 10 list. Her death is heroic, saving her child and staying with him until the end. WAY sadder and shocking than nemo's mom, and ursula on this list..
+samy29987 Little Foot's mom's death was number 10. very sad :(
Daphne Loose no coral
I feel Littlefoot's mom should have been #1
how about inside out? (when Bing Bong turn's into dust)
+Rizaldy Añoza Bit late. THis video was made in 2014.
maybe if there going to another top 10 vid, they can do that
ok
ok
ok
the iron giant's death was one of the most saddest death I ever seen
Mufasa's death always gets me to cry.Especially when Simba tries to wake him up.
Scar.... You deserve to rot in hell.
dont worry, he is rotting in hell :)
I had never heard of Watership down before now but Jesus that looks gruesome.
It is, but it's also really good.
the tv series is much more child friendly... i loved it as a child and then i made the mistake to watch the movie (not that it is bad or something, just not the best thing to watch for a 7 year old...)
Yeah, good old British cartoons.
Try Plague Dogs....yeesh.
And there was another movie that I can't remember it's name; it i was a murder mystery that involved talking animals, mainly house cats. I just remember the blood, intestines, and head of a dead blind cat.
Coopaontehtubez
That was it! Thanks man.
whoever created the watership down cartoon deserved to be mangled by lions the way those rabbits were mangled by the dog
Rayne Kraven oh he has a worst one at least in my opinion "the plague dogs" It's so unbelievable sad, it's a beautiful movie, but be prepared to cry.... a lot.
kennya bc I'll try so find that
Rayne Kraven Actually, the rabbits that were mangled in that brief scene they showed were the bad guys. I think the saddest death in Watership Down was Blackavar (especially since he lived in the book, it was totally unexpected)
***** still violent though..
Rayne Kraven I agree. It was violent. (I saw it as a kid, and back in the late '70s, cartoons did NOT have blood!) But all i meant was that it didn't have an emotional heartstring impact as when a good guy dies
They've shown Optimus' "death" scene, but didn't even mention Dinobot from Beast Wars?
The saddest one for me would have to be the mom in the land before time when she desperately tries to assure her son that he will be alright.T-T I cry every time.
I got one for you guys: Tadashi from Big Hero 6
+monica chan Video made a year ago
+monica chan The Black Cauldron - Gurgi's Sacrifice
big hero 6 when his brother dies
Cute Cat Gaming that was before the film was released but it wouldn't hurt to request another list for that
"Number one: Up."
Me: *skips to the end of the video*
Top 10 deaths in anime?
NoPicture
it's his suggestion dude, jeez
NoPicture
I believe it's weirder not to like anime.
ACE!!!!!
he didn't die, he was still alive in the Titan's stomach, then he turned into a titan
NoPicture make one for anime too or add them in this list. there should be definitely grave of the fireflies
I think Stoick from HTTYD2 was the saddest
MsCreeperCrafter it was Drago's Fault
I know.
+alerkina4the6th yeah, fuck drago
i totally agree
(How do I keep mentioning this dang movie in the comments???)
I cried so hard when Stoick died in HTTYD 2 :( It was probably one of the few times I actually cried during an animated movie. With Stoick finally being with his wife again after 20 years of thinking she was dead, only for a hypnotized Toothless to kill him after he protected Hiccup from the death blow. Not saying it deserved an honourable mention, but still pretty sad :(
Also, Ash in the first Pokémon movie. Still cry to this day.
You know not everyone has seen that movie yet right... 😠
That death from HTTYD 2 didn't get me at all. It immediately got me thinking about Mufasa's death
Dammit who put this bowl of onions next to me.
Mufasa's death was always the worst for me as a child.
Top 10 South Park Episodes?
Okay, I absolutely agree with #1. I'm not even kidding. Up is not a movie you can watch without crying.
Inside out,Bing Bong
He fads inside the pit and is forgoten forever.
he made me cry.
Inside outs overrated
Yeah, all my adult guy friends cried in the theater when he died XD
m
Quasimodo's mother from The Hunchback of Notre Dame
Autumn Monds Yeah Frollo killed her shhesesh that guy is sadistic
+Francisco Balatbat ironicly that's how he died.
How to train your dragon 2 when stoick sacrifice himself to safe his son
YAS
Amy Wannawak’s Life so true
The ending of The Plague Dogs reduces me to tears every time, even though the movie leaves it up to the viewer to decide whether the dogs live or die.
Optimus Prime is a freakin ROBOT, who is loved by 7 year olds everywhere.
Jared Hawken Of course! Starscream was my favorite decepticon!
The iron Giant didn't die
Great movie though :)
It was
hey he flew into a nuke but he is iron that aborbs energy so he could of lived mabye
They said resurrections count.
he got blown up by a fucking rocket
alright i got a serious problem...how are people supposed to watch this who don't want some movies spoiled? I mean i havent seen every animated film ever...and for every entry they say who dies immediately, so no time to realize you havent seen that movie yet...They should say "Spoilers for such and such films" at the beginning...
Pretty sure in the very beginning of the video they said spoiler alert.... God dude, can't you watch the video? ??
Marky Oosterveen ***** Guys, I think you misunderstood him. He says that just "Spoiler alert" in the beginning isn't enough, as he is still interested in watching the video, but unsure cause he probably watched half of them and the other half of movies mentioned will be spoiled for him unintentionally. That's why he suggests that WatchMojo alerts before of which movies they are going to give the spoilers out. In a way I agree with him, but WatchMojo would lose their power of suspension here, so unfortunately we have to just deal with it :D
they did say spoiler alert did you even bother to watch the start gawd
Marky Oosterveen but they dont say what they are spoiling, therfore that info is totally useless
But wouldn't that just spoil what's on the list?
I always thought that ray's death was the sweatest death of all time, in other words I like your list but I think ray definately should have been in one of the top spots instead of an honorable mention.
While I won't argue Ellie's death was tragic, I still think Mufasa's death was number one. Ellie's death would have been number two for me.
Yes I agree
+Amelie Lord who's Ellie
+Silver.867 I think Bambi is the one every one should remember😃
yas
That scene always makes me get teary-eyed. Muffasa is more of a tragic death when it comes to a stampede with welder beasts. I always cry.
of course Ellie would be the 1st lol :)
I didn't expect it lol
Her death did make my heart hurt.
Bambi should've been #1
It's an the all-time film death scene, not just an animated one
Very true
Actually the lion king should have been first it was definetly a more popular movie and the death was never forgotten.
+Galaxy gaming You're new
I agree Bambi ' s mother death was sadder, we got to know the mother longer than mustafa and also bambi has never seen his mom's dead body, he just run like his mother told him to, hes happy they escape, but realise after that she's not with him.It was heart breaking .
Fuck man. I can't even get past 11:45 to 12:20 without tearing up. Damn you Up for being the best Pixar film of all time.
