Dr Doof needed more than an honorable mention. His crazy backstories started off funny but after they kept piling up you can't help but feel for the poor guy. He just wants to get out of his brother's shadow and be the best father he can be
I think Azula needs more love, honestly. She was a fourteen year old with the weight of worlds on her shoulders, pushed to insanity by her circumstance.
TheAverageGuyTAG Congratulations! It really takes extreme effort to be this ignorant. Did you even watch the show? It's true that the depth of her character wasn't shoved down the viewers' throats as was the case with Zuko. But if you're capable of actual observation and don't just swallow the things that are being served to you, you can see it's all there. How Ozai's toxic influence damaged her outlook on life and her relationships with her friends and brother. How Iroh, who had endless amounts of love, understanding and compassion for Zuko, but didn't have even the tiniest bit for Azula. He didn't even try to reach out to her. Instead, he simply pits Zuko against Azula (JUST LIKE Ozai does) and encourages Zuko to treat his sister as viciously and mercilessly as he possibly can. How Ursa's utter neglect of her, blatant favoritism of Zuko and lack of love left Azula believing that her own mother thinks she's a monster. How lack of genuine love, understanding, compassion and support from ANYONE in her life lead Azula to rely on fear to control people around her. Azula's life was ten times worse than Zuko's. It's true that Zuko didn't have his father's love (neither did Azula). But he always had genuine love, understanding and support from at least two people in his life. At first from his mother Ursa and later from his uncle Iroh. *Azula literally didn't receive that from ANYBODY in her ENTIRE life.*
Partner of the Light Iroh has never stated that Zuko should treat Azula horribly nor has he ever hinted at it. Her mother tried to love Azula but it clearly showed at an early age that she showed signs of a psychotic illness. and she wasn’t alone she had friends and it wasn’t all bad at the beach episode she is shown asking Tylee for advice on how to talk to guys.
She’s always been evil and then she complains that her mom didn’t show Her love while her dad was always on her side and she was always trying to be mean to zuko and her friends may and tileh so don’t say he is ignorant
Oluf the Explorer Amon wasn't jealous of anybody. Did you even watch the show? He was against bending because he had come to view it as the source of all evil in the world and wanted to establish equality by removing it from the world entirely.
PkmnandUT fan His Parents didn't attend his birth, he became a gnome, his best friend, baloon got released accidently, he should wear a dress, his mom love his brother more than him. And when he become the adult and evil, he's always got defeated by a platypus.
Eve Is Not An Eevee Yeah, Team Rocket deserved to be on the actual list. They just want to get Pikachu to please their ungrateful boss but they had to have left behind most of their best friends and they still blast off again everyday.
Their boss isn't fully ungrateful; he was pretty smart to even think of having them. They have a special position in the company. It's easier to be miss-understood as not a real threat and keep quiet on crimes, despite your gang is already known about, by having a distraction. If it wasn't for the obnoxious and possibly immortal henchmen, Giovanni would have never gotten so far as to create a super mutant, then escape without anyone being able to trace him. Jessie and James were an open cover for Team Rocket just much as his personal cover as a gym leader.
The first couple of seasons in adventure time I considered ice king as finn and Jake's arch nemesis but in the end I think ice king (simon) is one of there closes friends
TBH, In my opinion, Azula should've gotten Zuko's spot because Zuko managed to move past his turmoil and he became a hero and the Fire Lord. Azula ended up crazy and alone.
Jabez Merritt Compared to being personally humiliated by your father in front of everyone and exiled from your country and having to spend a good chunk of the story trying to win back your father's approval and admittance into your country, Azula's story does not even compare.
TheAverageGuyTAG Did you even watch the show? It's true that the complexity of her character wasn't shoved down the viewers' throats as was the case with Zuko's redemption. The honorable mentions (and zuko of course) were clearly the best. Doofenshmirtz!!?! Plankton and omfkcijeofjrbg Team ROCKET are what I live for holy shit emotions here
Not sure if Varian from tangled the series was a villain when this video came out, but if this ever is redone he should DEFINITELY be on here. I mean, he was only 14 during his villain arc. And how he became evil was tragic. When we first meet him he is such a sweet, joyful character that you can’t help but love. Soon he begins to try to take action for something destroying his village but accidentally makes things worse, and his dad becomes trapped trying to save him. He then goes to seek help from Rapunzel who made a promise to make things better but was unable to help him. He returns home to find that it is now impossible to save his father, and he becomes angry that nobody helped him when he needed it the most. Obviously he did awful things but right below the surface was a terrified, heartbroken child.
Ice King should be top of this list and by a mile. Unlike the other characters his back-story is both heroic and tragic. I actually got a little weepy watching part of it.
Well she was never a sympathetic villain, she's just a villain villain. The fact that she went bonkers at the end was just because everyone left her, which hardly counts as a backstory
well he is supoust to be a parody of tragic backstory villans, since he has a lot tragic past (most of them are just dumb things like missing a baloong, or having an ex-girfriend that leaft him for whales) untill the point that he is just a mock product than an actual sympathetic villan. all these villans mentions had ONE backstory
The guy has money for Rockets, dynamite and other absurd traps. At some point he should realize he could just order out for food instead of harassing a roadrunner
Plankton should've been on the list rather than an honorable mention. He used to be friends with Mr. Krabs until an argument broke them up. Since then, Mr. Krabs has been successful and Plankton can only hope that he'll one day steal the Krabby Patty formula to turn things around.
Guy Brooks And while I do think Spongebob has been improving lately, Mr. Krabs won't allow Plankton one customer (Plankton's Regular) and is willing to torture him (One Coarse Meal).
Strange that none of the Homeworld Gems from Steven Universe are on here. Lapis and Peridot both started out in villainous roles and Jasper's motivation of seeking vengeance for her diamond makes her pretty sympathetic.
Honestly I mostly sympathise for Harely and the Ice King As badly presented in Suicide Squad, Harely is in love with the Joker, who pretends to love her back just to use her for his own bidding, although Harely does find true love with Poisen Ivy, 1. they have had some break ups 2. Harely gets killed by a corrupt Ivy in trying to save her in a comic/comic series and 3. Harely still craivs the Joker's approval, who hates Ivy and is possibly a homophobe What a lovely world DC is
Nightmare Moon from My Little Pony comes to mind. She fought, as Princess Luna, to rid Equestria of Discord, King Sombra and Tirek alongside her sister Princess Celestia, and then devoted herself to protecting ponies in the night, including fighting their bad dreams. Her thanks for this? Fear from the populace and being shunned because ponies associated night time with monsters. She gave her all to liberate and protect Equestria, and was feared for it while her sister was loved.
If WatchMojo were to do another Top 10 Sympathetic Villains In Cartoons, I'd like it to include Dr. Doofenshmirtz, The Brain, Plankton, Jack Spicer, Lord Hater, Vegeta, & Team Rocket, and if possible, Sunset Shimmer Or Starlight Glimmer.
I think Jack Spicer of Xiaolin Showdown should've been here. It's stated he sided with the Heylin side because of his fear that he would fail at being good, just as he failed at being evil. His motivation for world-domination was to compensate for his own feelings of worthlessness. In other words he's just looking to be accepted.
If Watchmojo ever makes another list like this. These are the top four villains that should be on it. 4. Scarlemagne from Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts. 3. Nox from Wakfu. 2. Spinel from Steven Universe 1. Catra from She-ra and the Princesses of Power.
Ice King became less of a villain and more of just a foil for Finn and Jake, especially when he stopped kidnapping princesses and just tried to make friends.
Ok, ok. When i saw that the Simon was only number 3 i was about to ream y'all a new one, but i decided to reserve judgment. I'm glad i did because, while his story wasn't quite as rough as Simon's, i feel that Zuko is a fucking FANTASTIC choice for number one! His pain, his passion, his will, his perfect embodiment of the human condition... Zuko was an absolutely perfectly written character and is pretty much perfect for number one. Great job guys.
12:29 hard to belie the same guy who voiced zuko voiced a teenage dragon who can't understand sarcasm IT ISN'T NICE TO SEE YOU, I HATE YOU ring any bells
We did have Kuvira. I sympathized with her from the very first episode of Book 4. I actually believed that her terms were not unreasonable, and I was angry at the one scene where one of the governors tears up her terms, and tells her to get the fuck out. In times of peace, yes, Kuvira would have been considered evil. It was, however, a time of great instability and chaos. All she wanted was order in the Earth Kingdom, and for people to have the right to live without being robbed, murdered, or raped by bandits. Her strategy was this: if she saw a town with something she needed, be it food, materials, or just labour, she approaches the governor and says "Look, your people are suffering. Join me, you can keep your title of governor. Your people will be fed, my soldiers will protect you from bandits, and I will give you jobs. All you need to do is bow and call me Great Uniter. Bandits will just raid you eventually and steal everything. At least I'm giving you something in return. But, if you tell me no, well, I don't need to threaten you with consequences. I'll just pack up and leave you to the mercy of bandits. I can't afford to protect something I don't own." Maybe I'm a little fucked up, but I don't think that's unreasonable at all. Not to mention, the whole reason she did all this was because Korra had disappeared for three years while the Earth Kingdom was in chaos. By that extension, pretty much everything that happens in Book 4 is Korra's fault. If she had returned sooner, Korra could have taken over from Kuvira, as her duty is to bring balance to the world. Kuvira couldn't just stand by and do nothing. If someone else like Korra came along, she could have been convinced to stand down before the shit hit the fan. The more I think about it, the more I think Korra's PTSD was a convenient plot device to explain why she was gone for three years. It seems like Nickelodeon discovered that the villain was too sympathetic, so they forced the writers to write her into a situation where she commits an atrocity that nobody can ignore. Add in a tragic backstory where her parents abandoned her because reasons, and you have a very close contender for a Zuko-like villain in Legend of Korra.
DarthCruciare87 Kuvira had potenetial but her arc was far too short, that's another thing Legend of Korra was missing, all it's books felt to stand alone
I. Th. not really, they where all separated in everything except Korra, that's why it could have used a Zuko, a side story to give fans a look on the other side, it's actually common any many shows and makes them more interesting
The most sympathetic part of Mr.Freeze is in the Harley Quinn show *Spoilers* you actually see him give up his life to save Nora's using a blood transfusion
Of all the versions of Baxter Stockman they could choose, they picked the one from the 1987 cartoon. What about the 2003 cartoon, he was literally torn apart every time he failed the Shredder. Eventually all that was left of him was a brain and one eyeball.
HOW IS PERIDOT NOT IN THIS LIST WTF WATCHMOJO REALLY HATES SU HUH Edit: I know that she turned good, But Zuko did as well and he is number 1 on this list
ItsJust Lientje!! I mean, there really isn't any tear jerker with Peridot. With all the other choices, they actually have something bad that happened to them.
A top ten Synpathetic Anime Villains would be pretty hard work compared to American cartoons because in almost every anime they would have a people been straight up evil at first then became a good guy later on. Also for those who are still villains throughout the story there are those that are given depth, whatever it's a tragic backstory or a hidden softer side.
jeremiah james usboko oh yeah I think there a few sympathetic video games villains, like Saren from Mass Effect. Actually I saw this video from outsidexbox talking about video games villains that actually had a good point.
When I saw the ADVENTURE TIME episode that showed the history of Ice King and Marceline ("I Remember You") I was literally moved to tears. It completely changed the story of the Ice King, turning him from a creepy lech into a tragic hero. I've loved the show ever since.
Waitwaitwaitwait Eustace Bagge didn't even get an honorable mention... Or Lord Hater Or Princess Luna Or The Homeworld Gems Or Mr. Crocker Or pretty much any jerk on Hey Arnold? WHAT?!
Why is Magento from the X men cartoons not on here, all he really want is world where Mutants rule. Which is something many of us would like to have, plus he survived the halocaust from WW2 so he deserves alot of sympathy
Mr. Freeze for sure. Also, villians who didn't turn evil by choice. I re-watched Darkwing Duck recently, so it's on my mind. Villians like Megavolt and Bushroot definitely.
The Ice King arc is the sadist arc in cartoons. It was a hugely well done story in Adventure Time! It helps that it was right out of left field. It was not expected for a crazy, neurotic nearly unsympathetic character from his start. It was clear from the start that he just wanted to fit in. But such a sad arc for a very comedic character. It was epic.
Well at least team rocket were honorable mentions but jessie james and meowth's back stories are really heartbreaking Jessie's mom being killed while on a team rocket mission and growing up poor she ate snow regularly, James was the complete opposite he grew up in a rich family that really only cared about him marrying jessibel in a pre-araged marriage and being lectured constantly about how to "act properly" james had enough and ran away met jessie and tried out pokemon tech that didn't end well for them after that they joined a bicycle gang got kick out and eventually they joined team rocket, meowth was just a ally cat living with a group of meowth led by a persian got kick out of there fell in love with a girl meowth she didn't feel the same way about him and told him if he were more human like she might change her mind man I feel for meowth he spent months leaning how to walk on two feet like a person and to speak human speech he succeed and that bitch called him a freak meowth and she could never love a freak Pokémon like him, and after all this time Giovanni can stand them and berates them for failures one by one he tried to replace them with Cassidy and butch witch failed you would think they could just walk out of the crime organization and live normal lives but they remain as members because James,Jessie and meowth just want to feel accepted and love by someone but in the end they have each other in my perfect ending for Pokémon I can see jessie and james getting married since there best friends we have seen they know what the other is going to do before the other does it but that my own fan fiction haha I love team rocket meowth that's right🙂❤ .
I could not agree more! I’ve always felt bad for them, not that I don’t feel bad for the others on this list but Team Rocket just needed some acceptance and love. I was actually hoping that they’d join Ash and his friends at some point. If I were in the series I would’ve gave each one of them a big hug and told them “Its gonna be okay!” and maybe, just maybe, they might turn good.
nobody knows if miyamoto is alive or dead. Sakaki (giovanni) and the rest of team rocket presume she's dead, but she could still be out there. Musashi (jessie), Kojiro (james) and Nyarth (meowth) are really great characters (i prefer bashou (hun) and buson (attila))
No Jack Spicer Evil Boy Genius from Xiaolin Showdown? He's an ineffectual sympathetic villain. Weeps. He tries to be evil but fails. The heros are unnecessarily cruel to him, a neglected teenager with no role models to be anything but evil hhhh. What even WAS that bad CGI cartoon. ;m;
I think Harley Quinn got picked due to popularity, but the character Baby Doll is a much more sympathetic character. Her first story is amazing to watch from BTAS
I know this is an old video - but i still wanted to comment. Invader Zim - did you even watch the show? He was/is exiled because he almost anihilated his very own Race in the first campaign of their Univeral conquest. Not because he was "overzealous" He didnt even leave his home planet and started to destroy everything.

great news a new adventure time mini series called Islands is coming up in the winter
samuel hadjaissa that's awesome!
inkeriananas yeah he just wants his princess and as bg looks like her he just needs her to live but Finn and jake screw it up everytime...

+Jack Frost Hello, Zuko here.
+MetallicaRules Iconic
well, what else could it be though
Zuko is one of the best characters ever.
yeah and i never thought of him as a villain
He's more an antagonist and in the later seasons, becomes more of the rival archetype over the villian archetype.
His voice is kinda annoying tho
mounir maged still not better than prequel kenaki, Eren or draculA
Nox from Wakfu is the absolute best.
Watchmojo: #1: Zuko
Me: CALLED IT!
I thought it could be Magneto.

Ruby [Doc] Yeah. She is so sweet, but I can’t believe she was left behind.
Yeah she only wanted a friend, and the only "friend" she had left her alone for 16000 years
If anything she should be mad you would've of killed pink diamond if you were spinel cause pink diamond left spinel on the island for 6000 years
i say doofenshmirtz should have been #1. neither of his parents showed up for his birth how much more fucked up can you life get.
DEFINENTLY!
He was a lawn gnome and had someone who loves him pour water on his head to get his attention.
Never really saw Harley as a Villain, she always struck me as another victim of the Joker.
Jack Von Bartesby she is just as much a murderer and a thief as he is. she just has a tragic reason
Quin Nunez i am not saying she's innocent,
i am saying she's another victim, you know? as in promising young woman snared in an abusive relationship with a psychopath?
She's still a villain though. Even after splitting from Joker she keeps being a villain
I think you can argue the same for the Joker though. Both equal products of tragedy.
Well you're a stupid comic nerd she's a Fucking villain
Watch Mojo-Jojo ... sorry I just have to do it.

Zuko is not a villain, is an antagonist with the best character development arc ever.
Dr doofenshmirtz should have been #1
Definitely,he needs a hug!
Ikr
*yes*
Yea his parents didn't even show up to his birth!
I agree his past is super trashed!! & By super trashed i mean super duper trashed than Shoto Todoroki's past
Honestly, Zuko is more of an anti-hero than a villain!
Amon from Legend of Korra is also a pretty sympathetic villain!
Zaheer was better
Oluf the Explorer Amon wasn't jealous of anybody. Did you even watch the show? He was against bending because he had come to view it as the source of all evil in the world and wanted to establish equality by removing it from the world entirely.
I knew Zuko would be number one. Avatar is the best cartoon that has been made.
Connor Reda I used to always watch it when I was a kid
TheGoldenGame same bro
Can't argue with that
To me ATLA is second only to LOK
mini2239 they are both amazing thats for sure
You know what I expected?
"I AM THE BOX GHOOOST! BEWARE!!"
I expected him or Vlad
@@phantomwitch731 yeah I felt bad for Vlad
F Vlad
You forgot Rob.
You know...
From The Amazing World Of Gumball?
Nobody?
I member!
I forgot he existed
FunnyBird Like Doofenshmirtz, he is also a wannabe.
Yeah of course. But he's a wannabe villain not even close to being good.
I forgot about him and I do hope they make another list so he can be on it
where is Dr.Doofensmirtz?
How did his parents fail to show up at his own birth?
Enric And Music test tube baby
Dr. Draken. Even Danny Phantom's main enemy.
i lobed when trees fell saying doofensmirth
Enric And Music Dr. D is in honorable mentions
Dr Doffenshmirtz (I don't know if I'm saying his name right) should be on this list. His backstory is so sad.
margareth michelina
Doofenschmirtz? Maybe. But anyways... I know!
PkmnandUT fan His Parents didn't attend his birth, he became a gnome, his best friend, baloon got released accidently, he should wear a dress, his mom love his brother more than him. And when he become the adult and evil, he's always got defeated by a platypus.
I know.. I feel so damn sorry for him.
More like backSTORIES, each one more painful than the last.
I swear,he needs a better mom...and a hug!🌹
I love team rocket, they are my favourite villans especially james
James is my favorite character in Pokemon
Nitsan Amitai Yeah I think he is the only reason I am still watching the anime, I love finding out about james past
Eve Is Not An Eevee Yeah, Team Rocket deserved to be on the actual list. They just want to get Pikachu to please their ungrateful boss but they had to have left behind most of their best friends and they still blast off again everyday.
Yeah, but I can't stand Meowth.
Why are all of the villains but Zuko and Harley either scientists or the result of failed science experiments? Damn Science, have some mercy!
Literally came here to see if Zuko was on the list... did not disappoint
Damn fucking right Zuko is Number 1, and rightfully so.
MetallicaRules Zuko is one of my favorite characters ever but then all that changed when the Legend of Kora attacked....Jk I had to make that joke tho
helllllooooo Azula and Zaheer are way better than Zuko!
MetallicaRules Nah Doof should have been number 1
- Schattenpflanze - only Zaheer azula is a typical villain
F u it's ice king
Have a nice day random person scrolling. 😊😬
Don't tell me what to do
Average American you too :-)
Average American thanks :)
I wonder if Average Americans voted for Trump?
Average American thank you
The first couple of seasons in adventure time I considered ice king as finn and Jake's arch nemesis but in the end I think ice king (simon) is one of there closes friends
Zuko always struck me as troubled at the first of the Avatar series. Then his backstory was revealed and I understood and pitied the poor guy.
TBH, In my opinion, Azula should've gotten Zuko's spot because Zuko managed to move past his turmoil and he became a hero and the Fire Lord. Azula ended up crazy and alone.
Ain't no way in a billion years I'm feeling even slightly symathetic towards Azula.
***** Well I can understand that but I really just find her story sad.
Jabez Merritt
Compared to being personally humiliated by your father in front of everyone and exiled from your country and having to spend a good chunk of the story trying to win back your father's approval and admittance into your country, Azula's story does not even compare.
TheAverageGuyTAG Did you even watch the show? It's true that the complexity of her character wasn't shoved down the viewers' throats as was the case with Zuko's redemption. Instead, he simply pits Zuko against Azula *(JUST LIKE* Ozai does) and encourages Zuko to treat his sister as viciously and mercilessly as he possibly can. How Ursa's utter neglect of her, blatant favoritism of Zuko and lack of love left Azula believing that her own mother thinks she's a monster. How lack of genuine love, understanding, compassion and support from *ANYONE* in her life lead Azula to rely on fear to control people around her. Azula's life was ten times worse than Zuko's. She just doesn't whine about it as Zuko constantly does about his life. It's true that Zuko didn't have his father's love (neither did Azula). But he always had genuine love, understanding and support from at least two people in his life. At first from his mother Ursa and later from his uncle Iroh. *Azula literally didn't receive that from ANYBODY in her ENTIRE life.*
Partner of the Light Iroh never has said that Zuko should treat Azula horribly nor has he ever hinted at it. Her mother tried to love her but it showed at a early age, that Azula showed signs of psychotic illness.
So much nostalgia and memories in this video.
And I agree with all the honorable mentions.
This series is so underrated !😭
Ice King should be top of this list and by a mile. Unlike the other characters his back-story is both heroic and tragic. I actually got a little weepy watching part of it.
I actually pitied Aluza more because she became crazy near the end of the show.
Well she was never a sympathetic villain, she's just a villain villain. The fact that she went bonkers at the end was just because everyone left her, which hardly counts as a backstory
That 5 minutes at the end of the show that was how zuko felt his whole life i know who has my sympathy
Oluf The Explorer I disagree. Her father forced perfection from her. She never received the love that Zuko did from Iroh.
John Canary the comics, from what I heard, seem to explore her character a bit more.
Masterv235 She was always crazy...
Noxamilian from Wakfu. You can watch his origin on UA-cam.Its worth a watch.
Yes,wakfu
hell yes all he wanted was to see his family again
IKR?
only did the damage he did because he thought he could reverse time far back enough to undo what he did. Genius motivation for a tragic villain.
Jergan von spwe-en Yeah I wish he was in this Video, I really feel sorry for him
No Dr. Doofenshmirtz?
But.. he isn't that bad.. without him other villains would have conquered the world.
well he is supoust to be a parody of tragic backstory villans, since he has a lot tragic past (most of them are just dumb things like missing a baloong, or having an ex-girfriend that leaft him for whales) untill the point that he is just a mock product than an actual sympathetic villan. all these villans mentions had ONE backstory
Dion River watch the list before commenting
Dion River oh yeah he did do that do you remember episode with the bald guy I don't remember his name
*The Regurgitator!* (cue thunder sounds and light flickers)
In the final episode (it's honestly hard not to cry while typing that) he becomes a good guy
I thought dr doofenshmirtz would be 1
Just A Fan same
I don't know. I thought Zuko was a good choice.
same. or 2 at least
Thought so tooooo
Doofenschmirtz is epic.
Even Perry feels sorry for him at times
Great job guys! Top 3 were spot-on!!!
Spinel: Am I a Joke To You?
Me: no i was thinking of you the whole time❤❤
Watching drift away
Daddy why did you eat my fries?
Det ved jeg godt nok ikke.
I brought them and they were mine
Daddy why did you burn my face?
But you ate them, yeah you ate my fries and I cried, but you didn't see me cry.
Because son, you're a Disgrace~
I always felt a bit sorry for Jack Spicer from XS.
Oh yeaaah My fave episode was always that one where Jack went to the xialon temple to become a monk! I really wanted him to become a monk of Darkness!
Or the Dragon of Metal?
Yeah; he could have made this list!
I kinda expected Jasper
Advanced Penguin same or peridot at least
I expected Blue Diamond.
same
I expected DOCTOR OCTAGONAPUS PWAAAH!!!!
Annnnd found you again
you out Spectacular Spider Man here
thank you for recognizing something more superior than Ultimate Spider Man
*cough cough* Rob from TAWOG *cough cough*
Ye
🎵Gunter... why did you goont my fries.. I goonted them, and they were mine.🎵
Not even a mention for Wile E. Coyote? Come on Watchmojo...
Hybrid Divide lol how would he be a villain? He just doing what animals does.
Kendrick Lavalais building rockets and bombs?
Not much room to sympathize......
He's not a villain
The guy has money for Rockets, dynamite and other absurd traps. At some point he should realize he could just order out for food instead of harassing a roadrunner
I EXPECTED PLANKTON TO BE #1 and doesn't zuko turn good
Plankton should've been on the list rather than an honorable mention. He used to be friends with Mr. Krabs until an argument broke them up. Since then, Mr. Krabs has been successful and Plankton can only hope that he'll one day steal the Krabby Patty formula to turn things around.
Brett Quimby that's exactly my reasoning also
Brett Quimby Lets not also forget that Mr krabs rubs his victory in his face
Guy Brooks And while I do think Spongebob has been improving lately, Mr. Krabs won't allow Plankton one customer (Plankton's Regular) and is willing to torture him (One Coarse Meal).
Suko still counts cause he was a good villain with the best motivation at first and he want back to villain again later in the end of book 2
Strange that none of the Homeworld Gems from Steven Universe are on here. Lapis and Peridot both started out in villainous roles and Jasper's motivation of seeking vengeance for her diamond makes her pretty sympathetic.
Honestly I mostly sympathise for Harely and the Ice King
As badly presented in Suicide Squad, Harely is in love with the Joker, who pretends to love her back just to use her for his own bidding, although Harely does find true love with Poisen Ivy, 1. they have had some break ups 2. Harely gets killed by a corrupt Ivy in trying to save her in a comic/comic series and 3. Harely still craivs the Joker's approval, who hates Ivy and is possibly a homophobe
What a lovely world DC is
In my opinion Doofinsmirtz is the most sympathetic villain because he was abandoned by his mum
And father
Luckily Harley became more of an anti-hero then a villain in her own comic-series like she was in gotham sirens before
um zuko turned into a good guy sooo hmmmm
Yes, but he was a villain for most of the series.
+MetallicaRules agreed.
He was only a good guy for 6 episodes out of the whole show so that doesn't really count
For 6 Episodes, quite a few comics, and oh, a whole nother series that came out after Avatar, where he is an old man.
you could argue he was kind of a villian protagonist for awhile
Great Video! *I feel bad for all these villains, especially Ice King*
She gave her all to liberate and protect Equestria, and was feared for it while her sister was loved.
tara, teen titans
Sting Rey yeess
christim
christim hey b0ss
Oh gosh Terra irritated me she couldn't make up her mind on being good or Evil and she got mad at beast for something he didn't even do
If WatchMojo were to do another Top 10 Sympathetic Villains In Cartoons, I'd like it to include Dr. Doofenshmirtz, The Brain, Plankton, Jack Spicer, Lord Hater, Vegeta, & Team Rocket, and if possible, Sunset Shimmer Or Starlight Glimmer.
Adam Drye WHAT. THEY DIDNT PUT DOOFENSMIRTZ IN HERE? UNACCEPTABLEEEEEEEEE
YES SOMEONE KNOWS WHAT INVADER ZIM IS YAYAYAYA YOU JUST EARNED A SUB YAYAYAYA
Villains arent bad they'll only be when we treat them BADLY
In Adventure Time, Ice King only posing as a villain in the first 2 seasons. After that they just treat him as an old grandpa with dementia.
I think ice king is the hero of adventure time personally
Big-HR Gaming more like Betty Grof is the hero.
I see Ice King/Simon, I click 👍🏾💖
If Watchmojo ever makes another list like this. These are the top four villains that should be on it.
4. Scarlemagne from Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts.
3. Nox from Wakfu.
2. Spinel from Steven Universe
1. Catra from She-ra and the Princesses of Power.
Ice King became less of a villain and more of just a foil for Finn and Jake, especially when he stopped kidnapping princesses and just tried to make friends.
i agree... zuko should be #1
does he even count as a villain since he turned into a good guy?
He was only a villain in Season 1, Season 2 he is an Anti Hero, Season 3 he is basically a good guy.
Dylan Janulis just saying. His transition from being a villain to
But he is only a villain in 1/3 of the series. He spends a majority of the series as not a villain.
Dylan Janulis I mean up until the finale of season 2 he was pretty much a villain. Remember when he betrayed team avatar and his uncle?
Dr. Drakken better be here..
Just because he's halfway incompetent and once suffered a single laugh riot from his college friends doesn't make him all that sympathetic.
4:43 NO! THE MOOSE HAS FAILED ME!!!
I love that line xD
You know someone isn't truly evil when they keep penguins as pets that they have conversations with but one penguin is secretly a space monster.
SHELDON J. PLANKTON
12:29 hard to belie the same guy who voiced zuko voiced a teenage dragon who can't understand sarcasm
IT ISN'T NICE TO SEE YOU, I HATE YOU ring any bells
Gilda the Griffon american dragon?
yep.
ToQ 3gou Jake Long?
what was Legend of Korra missing?
a Zuko
He was in Season 3
MetallicaRules a Zuko character, not the actual character
Man, Nora is going to be so pissed if she ever lives again and finds what her husband has done... and all the puns he had made.
HOW IS PERIDOT NOT IN THIS LIST WTF
WATCHMOJO REALLY HATES SU HUH
Edit: I know that she turned good, But Zuko did as well and he is number 1 on this list
She isn't really a villain anymore, and when she was, she was just a looney.
Steven Bills But still!
ItsJust Lientje!! I mean, there really isn't any tear jerker with Peridot. With all the other choices, they actually have something bad that happened to them.
ItsJust Lientje!! Its probably because Rebecca Sugar confirmed that there are no villains in Steven Universe
ItsJust Lientje!! I know right?
what about a top 10 sympatric villain in either anime or game?
A top ten Synpathetic Anime Villains would be pretty hard work compared to American cartoons because in almost every anime they would have a people been straight up evil at first then became a good guy later on. Also for those who are still villains throughout the story there are those that are given depth, whatever it's a tragic backstory or a hidden softer side.
Yeah. You got the point. But what about video games villian. I'm sure few of them had some tragic past.
jeremiah james usboko oh yeah I think there a few sympathetic video games villains, like Saren from Mass Effect. Actually I saw this video from outsidexbox talking about video games villains that actually had a good point.
your second statement pretty much would make the list though XD
NOX.
I happy that Zim on this video 😀
When I saw the ADVENTURE TIME episode that showed the history of Ice King and Marceline ("I Remember You") I was literally moved to tears. It completely changed the story of the Ice King, turning him from a creepy lech into a tragic hero. I've loved the show ever since.
Waitwaitwaitwait Eustace Bagge didn't even get an honorable mention...
Or Lord Hater
Or Princess Luna
Or The Homeworld Gems
Or Mr. Crocker
Or pretty much any jerk on Hey Arnold?
WHAT?!
Why is Magento from the X men cartoons not on here, all he really want is world where Mutants rule. Which is something many of us would like to have, plus he survived the halocaust from WW2 so he deserves alot of sympathy
RIP Nox ! :c One day you will be in a top
Mr. Freeze for sure. Also, villians who didn't turn evil by choice. I re-watched Darkwing Duck recently, so it's on my mind. Villians like Megavolt and Bushroot definitely.
The origional Harley Quinn mad me cry so many times...
I also love Simon's tragic backstory with Marcy. 💜
DAFUQ !! What about the doofous of a doctor??? The famous DR. DOOFENSHMIRTZ........ bruh
I mean I know he was honorable mention........ But why not list? I mean I thought he would be atleast #2 even #1
Thee Apollo his childhood is pretty sad cause really until he left his family his life was terrific
Poor Zim, always getting kicked around like a dodge ball.
TraciPeteyforlife ikr I didn’t even know he was a bad guy I mean I knew he did awful stuff but I didn’t know he was a criminal
Why the fuck is plankton only an honourable mention
Yes! You put Hex in the vid! I love Reboot, it was so much fun to watch!
It was epic.
ice king is the most i feel bad for
Well at least team rocket were honorable mentions but jessie james and meowth's back stories are really heartbreaking Jessie's mom being killed while on a team rocket mission and growing up poor she ate snow regularly, James was the complete opposite he grew up in a rich family that really only cared about him marrying jessibel in a pre-araged marriage and being lectured constantly about how to "act properly" james had enough and ran away met jessie and tried out pokemon tech that didn't end well for them after that they joined a bicycle gang got kick out and eventually they joined team rocket, meowth was just a ally cat living with a group of meowth led by a persian got kick out of there fell in love with a girl meowth she didn't feel the same way about him and told him if he were more human like she might change her mind man I feel for meowth he spent months leaning how to walk on two feet like a person and to speak human speech he succeed and that bitch called him a freak meowth and she could never love a freak Pokémon like him, and after all this time Giovanni can stand them and berates them for failures one by one he tried to replace them with Cassidy and butch witch failed you would think they could just walk out of the crime organization and live normal lives but they remain as members because James,Jessie and meowth just want to feel accepted and love by someone but in the end they have each other in my perfect ending for Pokémon I can see jessie and james getting married since there best friends we have seen they know what the other is going to do before the other does it but that my own fan fiction haha I love team rocket meowth that's right🙂❤ .
No Jack Spicer Evil Boy Genius from Xiaolin Showdown? He's an ineffectual sympathetic villain. Weeps. He tries to be evil but fails. The heros are unnecessarily cruel to him, a neglected teenager with no role models to be anything but evil hhhh.
What even WAS that bad CGI cartoon. ;m;
I think Harley Quinn got picked due to popularity, but the character Baby Doll is a much more sympathetic character. Her first story is amazing to watch from BTAS
I didn’t even know the Ice King was a bad guy
I feel bad for the Team Rockets..they actually have a soft corner, especially James
Especially Meowth.
Agreed. They aren’t actually villains, they’re sometimes better than the protagonist
Now I could easilly add the Diamonds in Steven Universe.
*me* Man Mr Freeze is number 2? Who could be a more sympathetic villain than him?
*reveals Zuko as number 1*
*me* ahhhhhhhh that makes sense.
Victor was an awesome sportsmen and Olympic gymnasts
